  1. Looks great. Makes me want to do mine again.
  2. My boy would go crazy to see that diamond python. Would love to pay a visit one day when it's hanging around.
  3. Ends of Day 31. What a pearler. Beautiful weather and no wind. Perfect for painting enamel. No matter mow much I cover things up it gets everywhere. What a great feeling to have this done. Tomorrow to paint inside and some of the bibs and bobs.
  4. Sounds like a great tribe. My boy is the apple of my eye, just isn't into cars. Totally obsessed with reptiles. We are out every second week till the early hours looking for snakes. Found a nice baby brown on Saturday. Luckily I like reptiles and enjoy the outdoors. Maybe our outback adventures need to be in the Mustang so we combine the two hobbies.
  5. End of days 29 and 30: Well my goal was 30 days and I didn't quite get there but I have two weeks of holidays and if it is driveable at the end of this I will be very happy. I took the feedback and moved the column so it lines up with the centre of the instrument cluster. Didn't take too much work and really appreciated the advice. I spent today preparing the underneath and engine bay for paint. Hopefully I will have the black on tomorrow. Wednesday is forecast windy so I need to make sure I get it done. I really hate painting with enamel so this is the last shitty job I have to do. I'll spend most of the day covering everything in the garage with drop cloths. Can't wait to start assembly.
  6. Hey Ash, Love your work. They're some pretty serious repairs. I am so jealous that your daughter gets into it with you. My 14 year old boy will only come into the garage if he needs his fishing gear. Doesn't even ask what I'm doing. If he did not look like a mini me I would have him DNA tested. Absolutely no interest in cars let alone mustangs. Can't wait to see your project when it's finished.
  7. I've done a fare bit of sheet metal cutting in the last few months and found an air powered nibler invaluable. Two things. Buy a good one and you need a decent compressor that won't run out of puff every 10 seconds. This was a good excuse to buy a new compressor as well. Sometimes I need to justify my spending and an excel spreadsheet won't always work.
  8. I was studying the scheematic today as I could not for the life of me work out how a Mustang is wired for the brake lights to flash as blinkers. Not legal in Australia. The diagram was extremly helpful and I will now have no problem splitting them. Thanks again
  9. Wow, this is great stuff. And perfect timing for me as I am doing some rewiring with the right hand drive conversion as well as separating the blinkers from the brake. Thanks.
  10. Thanks for that. I have just orderd one from Sydney Mustangs. Near by and I have otehr parts on order as well.
  11. Yeh, I agree. I was really wanting an overwhelming response that it is better where it is. Two steps..........
  12. Hi Danny, thanks for that. The circuit wasn't fried but became damaged with me taking it in and out of the car. Also appeared a little corroded. I'll certainly take your advice when fitting the new one. Once I am ready to fit it I'm sure I'll be back fit more guidance.
  13. Thanks Midlife. One less thing to do.
  14. End of day 28. Had an issue with the instrument clustercircuit board. I damaged the circuit on a corner. The wire was corroded and broke when I touched it. I managed to solder a wire to bipass the bad bit and coated it in areldite. Doesn't look pretty but will work until I can get a replacement circuit board from CJ. Have bolted in the aircond, steering, pedals and instrument panel to make sure they all fit properly before I begin painting. Took me hours of modifying the two panels for them to fit correctly but I am pretty happy with how they turned out. The RHD firewall I used came with mounts for the steering and pedal box. Unfortunately it has moved the steering column a couple of inches to the left. Ergonimically it works quite well but it doesn't look great not being central to the instrument cluster. I am pondering whether or not to move it. A big job but if I am going to move it I have to do it now. I would appreciate any thoughts on this. It's very rewarding to see the panel in place.
  15. I tried cleaning the coroded wire near the edge and of course it broke. Soldering a wire was not too difficult and has completed the circuit. I have now embedded the circuit and wire in areldite. While it works I will be ordering a new crcuit board form CJ. Hopefull it will turn up before I get he car back on the road. Otherwise I will need to fit it at a later date. I nticed that there is a lite socket missing on the panel. Is anyone able to tell me what it is for? Really hoping you will say it's a spare but I couldn't be that lucky.
  16. Great article. It's nice to know a bit about the people helping us on the forum.
  17. Thanks for that. I will give this a try and if it doesn't work I'll replace it.
  18. Hi guys, I have noticed the circuit on the back of my instrument panel is damaged. The circuit itself does not appear to be broken but has come away from the backing. I'm looking for suggestions on the best way to attach it and provide protection over the top.
  19. Try Googling 'U Nuts' . I was recenly looking for some and this link is in Australia - http://rageem.com.au/product-category/u-nut-speed-nut-u-type-speed-nut/
  20. Loving every minute. Almost to the end of the welding/grinding. The painting and assembly will be the cream on the cake. I have taken the last 2 weeks of July as leave and the goal is to have it driveable by the 31st. Will not be completely finished but driveable is the goal. I will blow my 30 day goal but if it is done in 40 I will be very pleased.
  21. End of day 27. Have swapped the dash centres over. Lots of rework to get the curves right. While the intrument panel and clock panel are different curves and will need a little modifying I think it will work. Had to do a bit of fiddling with the wiper and light switch holes but seem OK. An intersting thing I discovered. I thought the panel was coated in a vinyl textured finish. Turns out the patern is in the metal and has conventional paint over it. I still have a days work on the dash area for final fitting and refinishing but I think it will work out OK. I appreciate the advice about cutting the panel under the end caps but really want to keep the aircond vents in their original positions if possible.
  22. I know what you mean with the pushrod. I have modified it so it is the correct length. I'll be on the lookout for rear lock ups. Thanks.
  23. Thanks for that. I was given this advice previously but want to avoid having th events in the centre. I'll have another look on the weekend and see which way I go.
