  3. yes, exactly, i'm refering to the sidewall buldge. funny thing, i looked at the tire comparer too, before i made the posting. as i said, it's ~4mm on both side of the rims. i'm not sure if you see it in real life, but i'm pretty sure you won't notice that on a scaled down model :-)

  5. the calculation should be ok, but you have to divide the difference by two so... (42mm-34mm)/2= 4mm on both sides, that's not much but you might be able to see it. i guess the best thing is, next time you see a car with that setup take a close look to find out if it might bother you or not. 8" = 203.2mm 9.5" = 241.3mm

  7. with the setup above, your front wheels will be wider then you back, compared to the rim size. (245mm-8"=42mm vs 275-9.5"=34mm) if you go with 285/40R17, they would be 44mm wider then the rim and the diameter would be sighly larger in the back (26" vs 25,7"). this might look better.

  9. i just checked rimsntires.com the recommend putting 225/50R17 up front and 255/45R17 in the back on the rim that you would like to have (TT M, 17x8.0 ET0 PCD 5x114.3 (5x4.5) )

  20. it might work without spacers dependent on the offset of your rims. tires should work.
  21. just tell them how many sequences you want per minute and they will program it for you.
  22. 10" tire? i think 285/35R18 should work as well. it does make the ride different, if you had 14" wheels before.

  24. what's your current tire size? 225/30/20 -> 25.4" 255/30/20 -> 26.1" do you want your front tires to have a smaller diameter? 18" alternative with the same size: 235/40/18 -> 25,4" 295/35/18 -> 26.1" other 18" alternatives: 255/40/18 -> 26.0" 295/35/18 -> 26.1" 225/45/18 -> 25.9" 285/35/18 -> 25.9" side notes: black rims will look small even if you go with 20" my front wheels are 235/40/18, so this might give you an impression how it looks -> http://www.grendelmeier.ch/uscar/holziken2009/slides/IMG_1431.jpg
  25. if you like the looks and your fully aware that you have to drive extra carefull not to damage the rims or the tire..... you might want to give it a try. if i would want to have a 26.1" wheel diameter, i would probably go for 295/35R18. the wider tire can save your rim from scratches if you get to close to the curb while parking and the higher sidewall gives you comfort and might save your rim from deformation if you run over a pothole. (last fall, i broke a 500$ rim on my daily this way.) in both cases, you might have to tweak the inner fender well.
