  1. Thanks guys! I am going to try all your suggestions. I like the diode idea too - thanks very much for the link! Also, been doing a bit more reading on timing, I probably need to put my idle back at 12-13 degrees and then swap out the washer in the distributor to get a bigger advance, so it will still be at 12-13 at idle, and 37-38 at 3000. I'm a bit slow on progress, but I'll do all these and report back! Thanks!
  2. Gotta admit too I guess I got lucky too. When we moved to our house 2 years ago there was an empty un-remodeled 15x15 room in the basement. I was able to talk the wife into letting me have it. Make it nice to work down there in the winter vs the garage. So what did I do? Built 4 tall shelving all the way around the room - over 200 ft of shelving, and a free standing walk around 6'x4' workbench in the middle. Then added a utility tub and lots of lights. So now its the Mustang room....lol.....and as long as I keep it all in there - I'm not in trouble.
  3. My info will be very limited because the previous owner installed it. 2-3 shift is fine, but I don't shift at high rpm. No gear mods. Hurst shifter, lines up fine. No cutting of the console or tunnel. Not sure of clutch, but it is hyd. Lastly, it leaks like a sieve - cant seem to get it stopped. I believe its the rear tail shaft seal and I replaced it - only to still leak. I hear most of the TKO600's do this.....lol.
  4. I am running 93 octaine only - from my local Marathon station. No additives. I'll check on the coil power - but I believe its off, but I will double check. The carb is an 850 Demon. Not sure of the compression ratio. I do know its a 390 block with the original 428CJ crank, and slightly oversized (.030 tops) pistons, and it has the original 428CJ heads too. So its kind of a 390 bored, and stroked with the 428 crank. Not sure if any of this helps! Thanks guys!
  5. Wondering if I can get a little advise. My car seems to have a dieseling or engine run on when I turn off the key. It happens a LOT. It sounds horrible and I cringe every time - thinking a rod is boing to go thru the block. Sounds like a horse when they flap their jaws, with bearing noise added in....lol. So, I have replaced my ignition from Mallory to MSD to resolve other issues, I have messed with timing during tune ups - and one thing is consistent - it has done this all along and still does it. Although it does seem to do it more with my higher timing advance setting. Would u guys lean towards carbon build up in the cylinders causing a hot spot? If so, would a can of BG44K sucked in thru the carb plate, let to soak, then run help me out? As for timing, I originally had it at 12 initial and 33 total, but it was very doggy. I since changed it to 16 initial and 37 total and it has regained its power back w/o pinging. I'm debating changing it to 14/35. Any advise appreciated!! Thanks!
  6. Hey 69volunteer - the bolt be at the post office monday morning. I'll p.m. u the tracking number. Take care! Joe
  7. beecj0! Its your lucky day - but HURRY. I just saw this (not mine). http://www.ebay.com/itm/1969-1970-Ford-Mustang-Vinyl-Top-Body-Trim-Moulding-4-Piece-Set-OEM-/131145453630?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A1969%7CModel%3AMustang&hash=item1e88e0d03e&vxp=mtr
  8. Ok, looks like I have one! Take a look at the pic here of the bolts I found. I have 3 different styles. The ones in the middle do not have any shoulder, but have the same diameter as the ones on the right. I believe it is the one on the left in my pic you need. It also has a courser thread than the others. Seems to measure 14tpi vs 20tpi on the others. I do have 2 of them (only one shown). What about washers, do any of the washers shown go with it? It almost looks like you need the washer that is on the one that is on the second to the right (the black washer)??
  9. OK, I see it now - u need the one on the right! I'll check my "extra Mustang Bolts" bin and reply back soon! If I have one I'll just send it to you, no worries!
  10. Hi 69volunteer. I have some extra ones, but I'm not sure which I have. Didn't realize they were different either. If you can post a pic of the 2 different styles, and the one you need, I will check to see if I have one. If I do, I'll send it to you for just postage. Thanks!
  11. Hey Zipppo! A restored non tach cluster may have $500 invested in it?? Have that guy call me! I will give him mine for $1500 and he can keep the restored cluster....lol. I'm going aftermarket gauges anyway, this will just make it happen sooner! (sorry - not intended to be a thread hijacker). Chuck, This should be a very nice build!! I'm looking forward to watching the progress!
  12. Looking forward to see it come toghther too! Should be way cool!
  13. I replaced my tracks with 1 1/2" x 1/2" rectaugular steel tubing. I drilled thru the tubing bottom up to bolt to the seat, then drilled thru the tubing top down to bolt thru the OEM floor holes. I added 5" to the leg room, and added head room also. Only draw back is the seat is in a "fixed" location now - which is fine with me because I prefer to be the only driver, and prefer to leave the back seat empty!
  14. Thats funny! Sorry guys - it really is!
  15. My car is a 63C Mach 1, built 2/12/69, and it came with manual drums.
  16. If you put them back on, make sure they are facing the correct way. I believe (someone correct me if I am wrong) that the horse is supposed to face forward. The previous owner of my car put mine on facing the rear and its on my to do list to switch them. Hoping its 2EZ.
  17. Hopefully its ok to cut/paste my own blabbeling from another post..... I'm fuzzy on my memory but along with the 1970 larger bearings, I believe the benefit of the drum spindles is they are supposed to be stronger compared to the disc spindle - due to the disc spindles having a hole drilled in a location that could cause weakness. I think I have that statement somewhere above 50% correct.....lol.

  19. Love the headlights on the kitchen table! You have a supporting family!! You guys eat healthy too....lol. But seriously, its looking great! What are the tabs coming out of the carpet (or laying on the carpet) where the passenger seat goes? Not familiar with those. I worked for a company called Valeo for 6 years, a French owned company. One friend of mine there was from France and he drove an early 70's El Camino! He absolutely loved that car! It was cool to see him, heavy France accent and all, cruising around in the El Camino. He had the back end jacked up, very wide tires, etc. Straight out of the 60's/70's!! I'm pretty sure he took that car back to France too. Looking good!!
  20. Agree - all bolt on! The 69 front marker lights are in the lower valance and the 70 is in the fenders. If you have ALL the 69 front end stuff (fenders, valance, grille, trim, etc) should bolt right on. Even the hood trim is different. You will have to do a little wiring harness swap or mod too for the 4 headlights vs 2
  21. Had a few leads but no pics or prices yet. Still looking. Thank you!
  22. That car is SO damn sweet!!!! I love the flat black paint!!! Good luck selling!
  23. Hi stangnet33! Looking forward to the seat install. For the louvers, I used the repo hinges that came with the kit. They are chrome plated like the originals. All the hardware needed to install them (hinges, latches, fasteners, gaskets, etc) came with the louver kit.
  24. Cool - sounds like leather was a good decision! I will get pics posted up once installed on my build thread! I'm super excited to get them installed! I've been laid up with hernia surgery so I cant do much now - should be ready to go once the covers come in (2-3 weeks)! Thanks guys! :001_smile:
  25. I'd LOVE to live in Arizona Tg, Id got to Sedona in a second. But then I would find myself chasing UFO's instead of working on my car.....lol. Well, a small update. The weather let up for a few days then took another dump on us! On top of that, I just had hernia surgery and I am down for the count for a few weeks. But in a few weeks I'll be ready to go, and the weather will be breaking! So, I got a chance a few months back to install and drive the car with the Fiero seats. I love them!! Soooo low and comfortable!! So here's my progress: Today I took the plunge and ordered a set of Mr Mikes Leather seat covers for them. They will look exactly like the seats in this picture. So in a few weeks when I heal, weather gets better, and covers arrive - I can put the covers on. I will take pictures of the tracks I made, and the install, and the finished product then. I also am hiding the reclining seat levers on the inside (between the seats and the console) by swapping the seats. This get rid of the big spring cover and handle, and I will have a hidden custom made by Mr Mikes "finger loop" to pull to flip the seats forward - which will be hardly ever. Especially since I may omit my lower rear seat for a carpeted storage box covered by a fold down rear seat top.
