Caseyrhe reacted to RPM in Carpet Install
I heated up a rod for the different sized holes. Worked pretty well.

Caseyrhe reacted to Brian Conway in Carpet Install
I put a point on my soldering iron just for this job. Going a bit anal I also put some blue tape on top of the carpet before drilling any holes. Makes it a bit easier to see where the hole is drilled and where to burn thru with the iron. Brian

Caseyrhe reacted to Vicfreg in Dash mounting tabs location
I am pretty sure you can use the dash without the tabs.

Caseyrhe reacted to Vicfreg in 1970 Convertible Restoration
Well, the day has finally come. The car is about to be transformed with new paint. It waited in the shop for 9 months in line to get to this point. I will document the progress..... I am now going to open my favorite beverage and have a toast the car I have named "Gerry". Named after the older gentleman who I acquired the car from. He had planned for years to restore it, but never got to it. He passed away this January, and never got to see the car completed. I will make sure his Daughter and Family get the pictures when it is done.

Caseyrhe reacted to Rsanter in New tool......er, toy
I have been wanting a belt grinder, ok I have a belt grinder but I have wanted a specific type of belt grinder.
so I finally broke down and built one.
the vac base was a $40 swap meet find.
all the steel was free, salvaged from other stuff. I can’t allow new or slightly used steel tubing go to scrap if I see it’s usable.
the motor was free.
the paint I already had.
the wheels I bought, was planning to make them but I wanted to move this along.
still need to buy the VFD

Always amazed by the skills seen on this site. I replaced a spring on my lawn tractor and felt I accomplished something :)

Caseyrhe reacted to TexasEd in 1970 Mach 1 - Texas Car
@AusTex70 I saw this post and I live off Anderson Mill in Cedar Park. If you want to get together, drink a beer or work on stuff let me know. My 69 is in the paint shop for a while. I've taken about every part off it and put them all back on so I could help with your reassembly.

Caseyrhe reacted to moose425 in FE Block Starter Removal
What a yo-yo I am. I loosened and removed the hex head cap screws that allow the electric motor to be clocked into a different position about the mounting plate. I should have been loosening the three bolts that connect the mounting plate (and thus the electric motor) to the bell housing. The hole locations in the photo above lead me to realizing my mistake. The starter is now out of the car. Thanks to the guy who posted the photo.

Caseyrhe reacted to Brian Conway in What spark plugs do you run?
Been running the Autolte 45's forever. In my 289 as well as the 428. Reliable with consistent quality. Under $3.00 each but steadily creeping up. Brian

Caseyrhe reacted to RPM in 69 Mach 1 - Lifting Points and Jack/Jack Stands
For something as simple as changing oil, I use the drive on ramps. Easy peasy.
When I need to lift the front or back, or both, I use the front torque boxes and lift the rear from the center of the rear housing. I rarely use jack stands anymore since I built a set of 2x4 cribbing stands.

Caseyrhe reacted to Ridge Runner in Finally ! Something goes my way!
I have been looking for an automatic for my 2005 Gt for over a year now ,its nearly impossible to find ,it 2005 and 2006 only just like the wiring ...Fords better idea i guess! Just picked up a 2005 GT 30 miles from me for 2000.
The kid decided to ad a radio and did his own wiring ,yep ,you guessed it ,he set it on fire! He burned the top off the fuse box ,and the casing off the harness but it didnt burn the wires . Melted a brand new battery ! I gave him 2000 for it ,got it home and replaced all the melted fuses and dropped in a new battery and yee haw the sucker fired right up haha!
I drove it around the pasture and it runs great and shifts perfect ,i could have put it back together but the kid started to strip it already .
Today i pulled the motor and tranny and found it had a fresh rebuild tranny ,new starter ,new alternator ,front struts ,drilled and slotted rotors that dont even have the machine marks rubbed off ,new joints in the drive shaft and lowering springs . This is all going in my 2005 ,and it all cost me less than having my tranny rebuilt !
The motor has 121000 miles and runs great so it may go in my 56 fairlane . All in all it was a good day for me ,and i should have mine running in a few days .
