1. Fixed!

I'm guessing at some point there was a serious demand for LH quarter panels seeing how that Boss and 428 Mach had both chopped off. Pretty sad to see what people have cut up in the past, but the Mach I can see as it looks to have been hit hard in the right rear. I don't think the junkyard they pulled it out of was too kind to it either seeing how the windshield frame is bent all to hell.

With that said, I have no problem if someone rebodies a car like these two provided they do something like stamp "rebody" on the VIN plate. I'd rather see the cars preserved then lost. And seriously, would anyone want to drive a car stitched together as much as one of these would be? It becomes a safety issue at that point.

    Sad.

what do you think caused the demand?

  2. Have Boss 302 prices climbed this high?

No, but apparently some Boss 302 owners have gotten that high...

I'd have to say that they misplaced the decimal point and it should be 2,600. Keep hope alive, buddy...but...damn!

I love how the 'see our price list for repairs and additions' link is busted. "Under Construction"? you bet your sweet ass!

  3. The trick isn't what the car is worth to him, it's what the engine is worth to YOUR car. You can get a 302 from autozone for what, $600? A great crate engine you can get for $5000. Either of these options you can see as being "downgrading" to your ride since it isn't '69 material.

If you're just hopping to get a V8-I'd say this one is your best option-since guys are very lenient with "got rid of the 6" stories....The fact that you can get parts/glass/resale-the-rest is just a bonus. Pay the guy what you feel comfortable with. Don't forget they stopped making 69's in 1970. (38 years ago?) It's not just 'classic' at this stage...when the old lady starts in on you say, "It's not just junk...it's ANTIQUE junk."

I paid a guy's $450 asking price for a truck because I wanted the 4-spd. Why waste the time haggling about the price when it's obviously a win-win? He got his money, I got my tranny, and a WHOLE bunch more. At the time, it was just an old truck...but I saw it as a collection of vintage parts. Ford also stopped making that truck-so there IS a degree of irreplacability to this game.

  4. Sorry, I couldn't write: "without putting even Windsor heads on it (in lieu of the proper 351 Cleveland head/piston/rod/cam equipment)."

I'm trying to keep it short here, Pak. I know you guys know which 'heads' warrant a BOSS sticker! :clover:

  5. LOL! "Mis-clone"?

Seriously, who would put "Boss Stripes" on a 302, and re-build the 302 without even putting Windsor heads on it?* Can we say, "Posseur?"

(*Yeah, I know it already has 302 Windsors on it, I was talking 351.)

  6. I need the FMX...none of my parts guys will get rid of theirs...:(

This question is a toughy....I don't see that anything in the 750-1500 range would be a rip-off to either side. If your guy knows he has vintage parts, the cost may go up, but I wouldn't give more than 2K for the priveledge of driving the 69 v8-no matter how many parts came with it.

These are unibody cars, so you can pretty much tell the guy that the body damage shoots the value of the car...what he has of value is all working parts, and the glass, 'natch.

  7. One more thing maybe you guys can help me figure this out. There is a charge that reads "Install Front axle Dust Caps". I have looked all over the axles for some new dust caps but cant find any.[\quote]

LOL! I saw that line item, and I was lost then. No help here. If you wind up in court, you can have a pretty easy..."What is this?" "Is that needed for inspection?" line of proof. (let alone your $700 radiator.)

Sorry to hear about that law, all my buddy's invoices have it printed on them, and there are two signature boxes. I brought it up to him in jest, and he said, "You're the first one to ever notice that!"...then he stopped working on my vehicles....

  9. Why is that?

Got no clue. It's some kind of anomally. I'm on a couple of other sites, and while automotiveforums is cool-the mustang section can be filled with some 'undesirables'. I'm on another site (for my truck) and it's the lamest, most judgemental, straight mental place I've ever seen. Come to think about it, I noticed that guys who drive my type of truck never speak to each other. So I think it's part the type of car/some the type of user.

  11. Well, I just left the mechanic to "discuss" the bill. ...<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Reply: Well we didn’t really know how much it was going to cost......

......well you were ordering parts and people were working so you had to have some idea of where we were.

    2. I requested an estimate almost on a daily basis and got nothing nor a timeline.

...I was a little slow getting you an estimate...

But you guys aren't shrinks so why am telling you?

I don't know about Texas Law, but my buddy here in Ohio has pointed out that the law is if you don't provide a written estimate that is signed for approval, the customer is only responsible for the first $25 of work. Maybe you should check on this angle.
