  1. I am hopeful that there are still those amazing barn finds out there for many years to come.

    Bill

There were about 3500 Bosses (302/429-both model years). The world is running short on Barn Finds. Look at the registries and see how many are registered, and start subtracting the ones that have been wrecked...and discount how many were faked. (Remember boys, Bosses didn't see production until April, 69!)

  3. At this stage in the game, I wouldn't think any 302 Boss would have less than 100K miles on it. I think if this was a lie, they'd have made it more plausible. Guy buys it new, hops it up, and kicks off after less than 200 miles? Gotta be true. I don't believe his old lady would have 'forgotten' about the car. I think she was just waiting until the right time. Good for her.

  5. That's what's so funny about it. They had the "F" code 2-bbl listed (with it's 210 bhp), but apparently, the "D" code had an aluminum 2-v intake manifold that exactly matched the iron one of the "F".

The rumor around (so I hear) is that the later 5.0's were closer to stock spec than those of the 60's....just wondering if anyone had any other rumors (or actual info) about them.

  7. I was wandering around the net the other day, and I found info on a "police/taxi" ford 302 with a "D" code....anyone know anything about them? I'll have to edit in when I find my bookmark. It gave specs on all the 69 engines, except this one...HP rated as "???"

This is one of the charts. There was another version of this material that gave more info...still looking

  9. Saw this ad in the local classified section

"I have a 69 mustang mach 1 with a real decent body and inside, this is a 428 CJ car with a clear title, sitting on a 4x4 chassy, not cut up bad, make me reasonable offer on a Mach 1 THAT NEEDS WORK "

Hmm, wonder what a good asking price would be? Havent had a return call back from the guy and I havent seen it yet, the brain is just turning though.

I'd consider this a powertrain/interior deal. No telling what "not cut up bad" means...even the body, if it's in good shape would need the underpan if you went back to original (not sure why'd you'd want to go back since it's on a 4x4.) I'd seriously try to walk with the car at 7K. If he wants to push the price-it would depend on the condition of the engine! (And if it's been off-roading, it wouldn't take much noise for me to walk away from it....if you're not planning on rebuilding the engine first off, anyway.)

  10. There's a way to calculate that with paper and pencil. It involves making a scale drawing in multiple views. Once you see how much your suspension "flexes" you can determine the CG. (on the Up/Down Axis.) I think the car weighs heavier in the front, so if you're looking for front/back bais-you're kinda outta luck, IIRC.

  11. They have a '69? cool. got my boy a '70 Mach I last year. Was a Matchbox, though. Thanks for the info, I'll have to search and find.

(I would say, "It's time to race"-but the boy has the Mach I sitting in it's package near the Shelby Daytona Coupe, and 427 Cobra.)

  12. You have nothing to complain about, here in Norway it is getting close to 10,5$ a gallon and rising:scared:. And we are supposed to be one of the biggest oilproducing countries in the world. Govermentenvironmentalmyass:asshole::huh:

We have lots to complain about. the US has much more road, and not nearly as much public transportation. We put 20K+ miles on my wife's minivan in 8 months without even crossing the Mississippi River. (In fact, we only hit four states.) How many times can you cross the entirety of Europe to get 20K miles?

The US has a lot more places to go, and a lot fewer ways of getting there than Europe. There's a bona-fide reason why US gas is "worth" a dollar a gallon. Why we continue to pay 4x that amount is beyond me. I suggest park-ins next.

  13. Rhetorical?

Not so much rhetorical, more like, "lost time in posting reply...more to come."

I think that a lot of those cars may have had collision damage, or "Ford Rust" through that part of the body. Add to that a decade or so of poor storage, and it would seem like an epidemic.
