Ridge Runner got a reaction from 1969_FEStang in Interior fiberglasspanel texture
So i got a little bored today and decided to go to home depot ,just walking around and wind up in the paint department when i see this ,Rustoleum hammered paint in black . I thought what the hell and bought a couple of cans . I have a set of the fold down fiberglass panels and thought i would try it out and see if it was close . I scuffed the panels with green skotch brite and sprayed a coat ,let that set up a hit it with one more coat ,i would say it is damn near a perfect match for the factory texture ,i only sprayed half the panel so i could compare .  Now i didnt prep it very well so i will have to clean it off and do a correct paint job but now i can retexture some panels i have here and make some new molds ,i even have the two smaller top strip fiberglass pieces i have been wanting to make molds for ,the pieces at the top corners of the back seat for the non fold down. I want to make a two sided press mold of these so they will be smooth on the back and textured on the front as original .

So this is what I have been doing while I was waiting for my doors from NPD. I taught myself armoring. Back story.... I built myself a complete suit of armor (a couple years ago) for fun. Then this year I wanted to give my bosses something special for christmas so I made a helmet and stand and a pair of gauntlets. Both came out great. I shape the metal by hand with no heat. Helmet took 43 hours and the gauntlets took 19 hours. The helmet is modeled after a 13th century French Sallet style helmet. It's very comfortable. The interior is wrapped in foam and leather. The Bevor portion of the helmet is fixed to the stand but both pieces are movable.

Hoping to get back to the car early next month.

Going to get worse ,supposed to be heavy rain from this Friday until next friday ,i moved a couple of the cars up by the house and covered them ,one i can put on the lift and raise about 4 feet ,the other is on a rotisserie so its good ,have to pull out my welders and take them up to the paint booth ,its full of card board for hood boxes .it shouldnt hurt my molds but they will be out of use for a while

The jack ass next door built his property up about 4 feet higher than our property ,we knew what was going to happen ,but the drainage commissioner said he can do nothing about it ! Well ,it rained hard for the last 3 days ,all the run off from the surrounding groves poured into our pasture with no where to go !  Flooded most of the pasture and made it in my shop ,there is about an inch or more mud in the floor! I will have to get the tractor fired up soon as the rain lets up to dig out the front of my shop ,i had to dig out the end door with a shovel this morning just to see inside the shop .

Gently tap the hole down ,it has probably been tightened down at one time with out the washer pulling it outward

They never fit very well ,i have bent them around to make them fit . They did have the rubber around the edging ,i usually leave it off but if for some reason the car is pushed from the end caps they can jump the edge of the quarter and chip the paint . Make sure to use the washers under the caps ,it allows the caps to tighten to the quarter so the dont float around .
Also ,make sure the stud nuts bottom out as the cap is pulled tight ,if the stud is pulled to tight it will dimple the end cap ,that is what the washers stop ,may need more than one washer

Nice truck , i have my old 78 ford short bed still ,it has to have a full resto but some day it will be a good project  .i used it as a pre runner for several years for the Chuck Johnson Scott Douglass off road race team back in the early 80s and 90s  . It did pretty much everything the two race trucks did ,often running right along side the race trucks when way out in the desert . Best truck i ever had with a 428 CJ and a torino big spline top loader .

My brother was reving up my mustang ,when he owned it ,in the driveway ,i had told him not to do that unless you are setting in the driver seat with your foot on the brake . While he was leaning over the fender reving it it jumped into gear and slammed into the front porch knocking one of the post out of the ground ,could have crushed him . Those automatics can jump into gear if the tranny and motor mounts are weak allowing the shift rod to pull the gear select .

My first 69 Mach 1 had louvers ,rear spoiler and front chin spoiler  . When i bought it back in the early eighties the guy had them new still in the ford boxes ,he said they came in the trunk when he bought the car new . I put them on the car my self ,never really had much trouble wit the rear view but it seems they squeaked against rear glass and i think i put some one sided sticky foam on the bottom to stop it . ,it was just a small piece .
Mine being  meadowlark yellow with black out hood and shaker i thought it really looked great !

Nagging wife or girl friend also helps drown all squeaks and rattles ...although the stress level is probably just as high as the squeak and rattle !

I envy you guys who have the talent to do the hood black out on these 69 Mach 1s. I didn't think I had the skill or patience to do it correctly, so I just painted the entire hood. Ya, I pussed out.
