  1. I just got a shipping quote to send the first hood at $410.68 . WHAT THE HELL ? anyone have a good shipping company in Cali. That doesn't want the right one ,the left one ,and an arm and a leg too?
  2. You like custom work ? Well do ya ? Check ...This ...Out .It's Eleanor's Ugly older sister
  3. I would get the measurement for the tail panel from the top edge of the trunk divider where it meets up to the trunk lid and not the lip .The rain gutter may not be exact .I don't have a coupe or convert or i would give the measurement .
  4. The first one has the edges covered in foam pipe insulation, wrapped in a big plastic bag ,boxed in a box that is glued taped and stuffed with paper ,going to be fun to unwrap ,i used two rolls of tape ! The hood by its self weighs 34 pounds ,boxed it is 51 pounds .The box has been turned inside out to hide ,In big letters...( MOPAR ) HAHAHA! Stupid Mopar box cut my fingers . and those bees ...They were alive when i put them in there .
  5. The problem with doing custom parts is how many people would be interested ? Molds are expensive to make so it would have to be something that others would want as well .I would like to see some new ideas though.
  6. I took the under brace from the mold and trimmed it out .I made a bunch of latch plates yesterday and i took one and welded in the nuts and primered it ,then i bolted it in the under brace and pop riveted in place . I bonded the under brace into the top still in the mold . Later today i pulled the hood from the mold ...That right ,we have the first hood ! I cut out the scoop openings ,ground the edges and drilled the hood hinge holes and threaded them .I also drilled the hood peak molding screw holes . Number 1 is done !
  7. I spray the mold release first thing this morning .soon as that dried i sprayed the White gel coat.It was close to 90* today so it didn't take long to harden .I placed my mat on the molds and trimmed it .I laid up both molds .Tomorrow i will trim the under brace and bond the two pieces together while the top is still in the mold .
  8. The Shelby used a ford air cleaner base with a Hipo lid and filter and a rubber seal around the ford air cleaner base .I think a Hipo air cleaner will fit inside the ram air cut out .So you may be able to gain some room that way .
  9. Well you hang that on the wall right beside the shaker.
  10. Well the screens are going to have to be hand fit no mater how you look at it so i think the best bet is to buy the ones from Mustangs Unlimited .I can send a template of card paper copied from the ones i fit to my Shelby replica .The right side is a flip over from the left side ..The screens from Mustangs U. are aluminum so it isn't hard to bend them ,it would just be a pain in the butt to hand fit every one on every hood . I was trying to figure out a way to attach them ,they will have to be glued in place ,i was thinking possibly windshield glue with a few dots on the back of the scoops and press the screens into it and allow it to set up .The screens are black so it would be done after the hood is painted . Hey my materials just made it in ! I am into this for a bit over $4,000 now ...Good news @MikeStang ,Your hood will only cost $3,999.99 HAHAHA!
  11. The 68s look to be the same but the one i have left is not in very good shape ,someone made their own j hook from a bolt and the chrome is green .
  12. Mustangs Unlimited has the screens but they have to be cut to fit .I bought a set of them for my Shelby replica ,i already have them trimmed ,if i can get the same screen i may try to cut some out . They bond in place .
  13. Is this an actual tick of a jumping spark or pinging from detonation .If it is a spark tick check under the hood at night ,you will see a spark jump .Could be between the wires or a small split in the dist. cap .
  14. Those set screws are hardened steel ,they will not drill out with a regular drill bit .I am not sure what will drill them out .I think i have the block that the J hook is mounted in ..If 65-68 is the same as 69 .Post a pic of the 69 so i can compare it with the 68s that i have .
  15. Trimmed ,sanded ,and ready for waxing ,but not today ,my arm cant take any more today.
  16. They used the Shelby hood locks ,must have made a bracket for them
  17. About all you need to know is ISO -yes .Ortho -no . Use a good grade mat as well .Owens corning is a bit hard to work with ,especially with tight turn or deep pockets but makes a very strong part . 2 layers of 2 0z mat is good but if a thicker part is better go 3 layers .It is easier if you use 1 1/2 oz mat for the first layer as it will lay in easier in a mold with a lot of sharp corners or deep pockets .Then use 2 oz mat for the next layer /layers . Use a good ISO based gel coat as well .
  18. No ,i have to order it .Not many people use it ,it is to expensive .I can get Ortho out the wazoo but who wants to use cheap materials if you want to put out a good part .Just goes to show that not a lot of shops are using it because they do not stock a lot of it . I placed an order today but it was not in stock so i have to wait a couple of days . I should have it by the time i am ready to use it . My supplier is in Sacramento ,about 300 miles away.
  19. I wish there was a way to do speaker pods with the correct grain .this is what i have .It is correct front and back ,and attaches as the original one does .
  20. They will be $450 for 69stang members .$550 for others . I weighed the hood before i started the under brace mold and it weighs 35 pounds ,soon as i can box one i will see what the shipping will be .
  21. I just finished the last layer ,6 in all .I think i am suffering from repetitive stress disorder ,repetitive stress disorder ,repetitive stress disorder .
