  1. I dont believe they were painted ,they were black plastic ,i think i have a couple here i can check
  2. I made part of the boxing plates for the rear of the frame ,there will be a short piece on the back side of the rear big brace ,but i have to get a brace first . I want to sand blast and epoxy prime inside the frame where the plates will cover the inside of the frame . It should be very strong once boxed . I have to hole saw some access holes for the bed bolts still .
  3. I got this thing up on the rotisserie all by my self ....all buy my self ,dont wana be ,all by my self .. sorry ,80s flash back ! Any way it is the same length as a mustang so i didnt have to move the ends ,a mustang drive shaft is also the perfect length . Now i can have some fun boxing the front and rear of the rails !
  4. The one i have is the angled one
  5. I think i have a remote mirror here from a 70s station waggon ,i will see if it is the same piece
  6. I have replaced them before using similar mirrors from different cars in the wrecking yard ,the trick is getting the cables out with out breaking the pot metal
  7. Made a new end for the rear of the frame, made it out of square tube instead of c channel like the original ,the old one had seen better days . I drilled all the holes including the bumper bracket on the end ,i have the bumper brackets here some where.
  8. I thought i had another rear leaf spring bracket but i guess i dont ! This one is toast ,all busted up . I do have another frame but it has tons of crap stacked on it ,if i cant find another one i will have to pull that one out . Front radiator brackets fit right in place so that is done . Now to get it on the rotisserie ,it weighs about 200 pounds and i have already flipped it about 5 times ,thats more than an old fat man can handle!
  9. Trying to drill out those rivets in the cut up radiator brackets ,i broke off a drill bit! The metal is like drilling a lead steel mix and it grabs drill bits ,kind of like stainless steel ! After a few good cuss words ...did i say a few ? I got the last rivet out with a diamond grinder bit
  10. I have a set if i can find them ,i will look today ,they are off a 70 Grande
  11. This 35 truck bed is a deal at 2,200.,it is un assembled but i have built at least 4 so it no problem ,it is every piece to build a complete bed and for the same price they will ad the wood floor and stainless trim . I get a little farther along and i will order one ,this is from Mack Products and they are just like the original .
  12. Another reason why you never throw anything away ! I saved these brackets from a wrecked frame many years ago
  13. Inner frame horn is done ,the two brackets in the front have been cut away but i have those brackets ,now i can rotissify this chicken ! I will replace those brackets on the rotisserie .
  14. I drilled the bumper bracket hole and the radiator mounting hole up top and shot a bit of primer on it to keep it from rusting right now .
  15. Not to bad ! I just have to make the inside horn now .
  16. Yes ,you need all three brackets ,#1 is the seat back hinge bracket, # 2 is the floor behind the fold down and # three is what the seat botton hooks on .
  17. I restored a 1933 buick doctors coupe for Don Jones in Porterville a few years back ,had to paint it in lacker ,you can imagine how hard it was to find lacker paint ...and get the right color! This was just about a concours job but the colors really go together good. I thought this pic was the car i restored but i guess it isnt . Dons car was one of the very first cars to cross the golden gate when it opened , we finished it just in time for the golden gate anniversary . He died shortly after that and the car was sold at auction .for big bucks i was told !
  18. They will look real good when i get the grinder to them
  19. Made and tacked and welded . The welds are not the prettiest but they penetrated so a little grinding and i have a good frame once again . Now i still have to make the inner frame pieces for the frame horn and i would have made the inner piece first but if i had made them a bit to big or small the outer may not have fit as good .
  20. I just made the template for the frame horn repair ,it has to be made in two pieces because it bows down in the front ,time to get out the plasma cutter again ! A band saw would have been a lot nicer ,i may cut the pieces big and do just that !
  21. I had bought 3 gallons of gulfstream aqua ,enough for my 69 Mustang and my old 35 Ford and tucked it away ,i checked and it is still good so this one will go gulf stream as well ,this pic is pretty close to what it would look like .
