  1. By drilling i should have said spot weld cutter ,most paint supply shops will have them .You usually cut until you see a slight rusty look , you have gone through the top panel /battery apron .a light grind on the spots and you are good to go .
  2. Yep ,get measurements first and it will fit right in place .Drill the spot welds through the battery apron but not through the frame rail or the shock tower .You can drill through the radiator support because the apron will be the backing for welding
  3. I bought the Bosch self leveling laser from Home Depot for my conversions it has a magnetic base ,the good thing is if you bump or jiggle it , it will re set its self .These cars were never as straight as every one thinks they were so using a laser level should make them better than they were new . Some of these cars lean to one side or the other so i am not sure how Ford jigged them up .
  4. Wew ,i am glad it was a car rear end ,i would hate to ask about my rear end HAHA. You going to polish it ? A shinny hiney world look great
  5. I have always loved the Torino as well ,that was a fine looking car . I had 68 and 69s ,my favorite was my 69 scj GT. ram air car
  6. The light weight ones will blow away in the wind and can cause damage if not anchored well . I bought three of the metal car ports ,i keep one up front and one down back and i use the third one to work under .They need to anchored as well but will hold up to just about anything .You need to check with city zoning rules though for some reason they think you need to pay them to have it in your yard in certain cities ,not the case here . mine have two sides and the roof covered ,just the two ends open ,the cost was $1000. and that was installed but well worth it .Mine will hold two cars .
  7. They said Californie was the place you need to be ...Swimming pools ,and movie stars
  8. Hey ,it gets below 70* i put my jacket on .27* i could freeze to death .
  9. Got down to 27* last night ,pretty heavy frost here this morning .The dogs went ice fishing in their little pool this morning for real ice . And fiberglass will not harden ,had to run the heaters all night .
  10. Let it snow let it snow let it snow ...Snow ball fight ! No progress and you still made more progress than me .
  11. I have been wanting to build a portable frame jig for some time now .I have 4 scaffold jacks i want to use for the levelers .They are large screws with block type threading and a double handle nut for easy turning ,they also have a square base pad already drilled for large castors so it will be a leveler and castor all in one i just need 4 casters with locks .The table will be about the same dimensions as yours .I would like to make the mounting posts bolt on if possible so they can be removed for a different frame mounting .I do a lot of 35-37 ford stuff so it would be nice to be able to bolt these frames on as well .At least with large wheels i can roll it out of the shop when i am not using it
  12. I did a paint job in trade for a 65 fast back ,the fast back was rough but i had enough parts to build a really nice car out of it . The guy had another fast back i wanted to buy but he said it had a brand new motor in it and he really didn't want to let it go .I do the paint job and go to pick up the car and get it home and find the 4 speed is missing . I call the guy and ask where the 4 speed went and he says there never was a 4 speed ,Hum i guess i didnt see the shifter sticking thought floor and actually shift it the first time i looked at it ...right !! Turns out the new motor was in the fast back i got ,or so he thought because he switched them .I pulled the motor and all the gaskets looked new so i decided to pull the heads HAHAHA he forgot what car had the new motor and it was in the one he wanted to keep but he swapped it into the one i got ....Sucka !!The old reverse screw you hahah. I got the car finished and won the very first car show i went to,and guess who shows up ? I told him that he screwed up when he swapped those motors because he gave me the new one .He tells me how much the guy spent spent on that motor that he bought the cars from and i just laughed and said that is your fault for trying to pull the old switch when he couldnt remember witch one actually had the new motor .Both motors were painted up by the guy he bought the car from so he couldnt tell the difference
  13. Wow ,that is a nice looking car ...I must confess... we have a 78 Trans Am with a 403 and a 99 Trans Am Firebird with only 53,000 miles on it Factory Black, both are t top cars ...Dont spread this around though .
  14. We Californians like to blow hot air ...It is sometimes hard for us to do so we have to build machines to get the job done . They blow the air around during a freeze ,they take what is called the inversion layer witch is the warmer air above the freezing air that is at ground level and warm up the colder air and is supposed to keep off the frost in the citrus groves .
  15. Man you are not kidding ...the windmachines around my house in the 70s had 427s and some had 428s .They were industrial motors
  16. I can do one in about a week if i have all the parts on hand .I think the last one was just under 40 hours start to finish .It only takes a couple of days to fit the new sheetmetal .
  17. A 67-68 conversion is a lot easier than a 65-66 because all the parts to convert it are made ,actually they make all the 65-66 parts now but they are much more expensive than the 67-68. Bring your car with you Mike !! We can convert it in about a week start to finish
  18. There is a video on Utube but i don't know how to post a link How to tighten a steering box . Well maybe ? How To Tighten your Steering Box - YouTube
  19. It has been a while since i adjusted one but Adjusting was simple and would save some $$ if that is all it is .If it doesnt make a grinding noise when turned it is probably still good .I would repack it with grease first .
  20. I would check the Adjustment on the box ,it is probably loose .If it doesn't have a grinding noise from pitted or rusted internal bearings it is adjustable .There is a certain way to adjust them but i can't remember right now .
  21. Already done ,it is in the progress forum ,but i will ad the other one when i start it
