That should do it for this!!! Thanks fellas, appreciate ya.
You know, I have the 1969 Car Shop manuals and also have the Osborn Assembly Manuals. Even with these, I find stuff challenging. The front valance panel illustrations are few and limiting. Is there anything better?
Can anyone comment on the attached? Is it merely just more of what I already have?
    Thanks!

My trunk lid is OEM as is the spoiler, both original to the car. Unfortunately, my car is an early 69 build and does not have the oval cutout. I do have a bracket but it is not like that and does not protect the deck from what has transpired in the pictures above. If I recall correctly, the owner that bought the car new had the dealership install all the spoilers and window louvers. Anyway, bought an aftermarket lid tonight that has the correct cut out for that bracket. Keeping my fingers crossed that the aftermarket lid is a good one.

Glad to see the site back up! Seriously need to do something about this. To my knowledge, this is the only 69/70 Mustang website and there is a wealth of knowledge here. Would really hate to see it go by the wayside. What do we need to do to resolve this once and for all?

Easy for you to say. You're the guy with an avatar showing two razor blades welded edge to edge! You do amazing work. Mere mortals have to work at it a bit harder.

The doubled-over seams in the bottom and sides of the doors are obviously a concern for rust accumulation. The best solution I’ve seen is by a well known character named Woodchuck on Vintage Mustang Forum. Woodchuck has apparently done this many times, and what he suggests is building a wood tub, line it with a thick plastic tarp, support the door off the bottom, fill it with water, add 1/2 cup of washing soda (Na₂CO₃), then run some DC current though it for a couple of days. He uses an old computer power supply, but a battery charger should work just as well. Note: here is a link to Woodchuck's post for more details: https://www.vintage-mustang.com/threads/best-way-to-arrest-rust-inside-doors.1197220/#post-10579417

Of further concern is that paint will not stick to any metal treated with Soda. According to the popular paint company SPI, you must first neutralize soda by the following technique stated on the SPI Technical Data Sheet: Thoroughly wash every square inch of the affected metal with Dawn original formula, Purple Power Degreaser, or Simple Green mixed with water and clean towel. Wash off with clean water then dry.

According to Barry (who owns SPI and is the formulating chemist) on neutralizing soda: “What some of the soda blasters are now doing is washing the car with Holdtight 2, so that neutralizing and changing the PH of the metal, at $150 a gallon you are paying for it but it does save some work.”

Woodchuck then uses Mastercoat Silver primer to seal the area inside the door so oxygen can’t get in and allow more rust. I’m a believer in Mastercoat. This stuff will last 15 years on bridges over salt water. I have used it on some sheet metal light boxes I built that are outside in hot, humid, rainy, cold and snowing Georgia weather year round with no sign of rust.

I prefer using good masking tape, like the green or yellow 3M tape. Take the tape and cover the area where you're wanting to duplicate with a couple of layers in a 90 degree orientation. Cut the tape where you can manage to duplicate the parts (looks like that area will require several small sections), remove the tape from the damaged area and transfer to your new sheet metal, being sticky helps hold it in place. Cut, bend/shape as needed, a little fitting and welding, your door will be good as new. Very simple, very easy :)

I totally agree! In fact, I personally think it's the best looking body style ever produced by any of the big three.

WOW! That's a major life change! Good for you, Mike!!! I don't know how you were working at of that single car garage, so the new shop will be great. I think eventually you'll find it too small though....LOL! Can never build them big enough!
And while I didn't include it in my initial post above as a side track project, I had a piece of rental property that a renter literally destroyed. Took me 14 mo working by myself to fix that house up in order to put it on the market for sale. I literally replaced everything in that house such that I would live in it. Almost didn't want to sell it when I was done but no way I was getting back into the rental business. People trashed my home and left owing me three months rent. I can't believe people sometimes. Never again!

and don't ever put a table of any sort even temporally, it will become completely full with stuff and you will have no idea where it came from.

Yes, if you look in my above posted pictures, you'll see it on the rear qtr. There are three per endcap, I left that particular one off, as my endcap was protruding outward and away from the panel. Seemed to fit better without it. I have some adjusting to do.

Gently tap the hole down ,it has probably been tightened down at one time with out the washer pulling it outward

They never fit very well ,i have bent them around to make them fit . They did have the rubber around the edging ,i usually leave it off but if for some reason the car is pushed from the end caps they can jump the edge of the quarter and chip the paint . Make sure to use the washers under the caps ,it allows the caps to tighten to the quarter so the dont float around .
Also ,make sure the stud nuts bottom out as the cap is pulled tight ,if the stud is pulled to tight it will dimple the end cap ,that is what the washers stop ,may need more than one washer

Nice truck , i have my old 78 ford short bed still ,it has to have a full resto but some day it will be a good project  .i used it as a pre runner for several years for the Chuck Johnson Scott Douglass off road race team back in the early 80s and 90s  . It did pretty much everything the two race trucks did ,often running right along side the race trucks when way out in the desert . Best truck i ever had with a 428 CJ and a torino big spline top loader .

Been some time since I posted, but good to see some of the old gang still here. A few years back.... time slips me, pulled the Mach out of storage where it had been since the late 80's. Built a rotisserie for it using Ridge Runner's plans (Thanks Ridge) and stripped the car down for resto. Had it media blasted and primed it with epoxy and it has not been touched since. Got sidetracked on a couple other projects.
Sidetrack project #1 was my 86 F150, which I bought brand new and had thought to sell for a new truck. Started working on it to prep it for sale but the more I worked on it, the more I realized I could not sell it. What started out as a few mechanical repairs, led to a near full blown restoration including engine bay, interior, and exterior paint and body stuff. Great learning experience with the paint and body work, as I had no experience in this. Anyway, that process took a couple of years and I've now turned my truck into a trophy truck.
Sidetrack project #2 was my daily driver, a 2014 Ford Focus ST which I also bought brand new. Thought to trade it off but with the crazy market, the fact that it was paid off and, that I really liked it, decided to keep it too! Wife was glad, as she didn't want to incur another car payment. Told the wife if I was going to keep it, I was going to add a few go fast goodies on it.... "so open up those purse strings woman!"  Go fast goodies were all bolt on and included a Garrett ATP 2867Gen2 turbo, upgraded intercooler, 3" downpipe, Cobb Accessport, tuning....blah, blah, blah. I gotta say, in all the years I've been wrenching, I've never seen such incredible HP gains with mere bolt on's! Keep in mind, I'm old school and knew nothing about Turbo charging technology prior to this project. This little rascal rips and boy is it fun!!! I'm running about 350HP to the wheels and at no sacrifice to fuel mileage.
With that behind me, it's time to get back on the Mach and I'll be hell bent now on having a running car in 2023!!! Looking forward to getting back in the game and more active on the forum!
    Merry Christmas, friends!
