    Hi all

Welcome to the Forum, you are in the right place. Sorry to hear about you missing out on the '73, but that '69 mach 1 looks great. I'm sure it will give you many fine times to come. Would love to see more photos of it.
  2. Excellent photos of the work you've been doing. This is obviously one Mustang that has had a rough life but is in the right hands now. It should look great when you're done.
  3. Congratulations on getting your Mustang back. Finding a car you once owned years ago and actually being able to get it back is a big deal that doesn't happen often. I will look forward to following your restoration of it. Would like to hear more about the Mustang as well. It took more than 30 years for me to get back my original '69 Mustang GT so I can really relate to your excitement.
  4. On the way home from work yesterday evening, I passed a red '69 fastback headed the other way. It had the blacked out hood and scoop like a Mach 1 but no side stripes. I'll be watching for this one to get a better look next time.
  5. Looks like a great project. It will be a beautiful Mach 1 when finished. I'm sure your brother will really appreciate your efforts when he finally gets to enjoy the car.
  6. Thanks for the website link, I enjoyed looking at the photos of the '72. It looks like a very nice convertible and you have a fine history with it. Its not often you see a red convertible changed to another color. Usually, its the other way around. The blue fits it well though, especially with the white interior. The '69 mach 1 will be a great addition to your stable and I'm sure you will really enjoy it as well.
  7. I really like the Black Jade as well. It's a great looking color on a '69. Your wife and kids may come around when they see it in person. That's a nice looking '72 convertible you have. Would love to see more photos of it.
  8. My '70 Mach 1 is running 3.50 gears and it gets pretty busy at interstate speeds but it's a real hoot around town. If you're looking for strong take-offs from stops you'll probably like them. My '69 Coupe has 3.25 gears and I actually enjoy that combination more. It has a strong take-off yet is a good bit more comfortable at interstate speeds. This would my personal choice for a regular driver.
  9. I am sure my brother did have some contact with your car, especially if it passed thru the showroom there. Its sad that Gillespie Ford is gone now. In the 60's, that was a nice dealership that stocked some really interesting Fords. I can remember seeing Bosses and Shelbys as well as Mach 1's in that showroom back in the day. I love the Gulfstream Aqua color of your Mach 1. It will be an attention magnet, especially with a tuxedo interior. Red and Black cars are neat but very common. I like to check out the other color cars at shows I attend so I can see something different. Thanks for the compliment on my '70. It is indeed Grabber Green and oddly enough, has Dark Ivy Green interior. According to the Marti Report, it is one of only six 1970 Mach 1's built in that combination so I guess it is kind of rare. It is the only one currently listed in the Mach 1 Registry. Right now I am finishing up a three year restoration on it to make things right and can hardly wait to get back on the road with it.
  10. I've really enjoyed reading about your history with this Mach 1. Its great that you have hung on to it all this time and can finally restore it. It will be a beautiful car when you're done, I'm sure. It is neat to see the old Gillespie Ford of San Antonio emblem on the tail panel. My older brother was a salesman there in the 60's and early 70's and he sold a lot of Mustangs over the years. He could have been the one who sold your car to it's first buyer. Good luck with your build, I am looking forward to following your progress.
  11. It must be a Cougar thing. There are no plastic inserts in my dash at that location.
  12. The belts you are looking for pop up from time to time on Ebay. You may find them there or maybe even in the parts for sale forum section. The shoulder belts seem to be the hardest ones to find. Over time a lot of them must have been taken out since they always seemed to be in the way. Welcome to 69stang, the place for help with your restoration.
  13. Wonderful choice in color. It looks beautiful and may well be the only '69 like it at the shows you attend.
  14. The new paint looks really great! I'm loving that color. I hope its a go this time because I bet you're ready to get it home.
  15. Welcome copb8 to the best forum for help with your Mach. Even if it's an older restoration, it still looks great in the photos. I can see why you get attention when you drive it. It looks like you made a good purchase and I'm sure you will enjoy it.
