After making a right hand turn my turn signal switch cancels as it should but most of the time travels to far and turns on the left turn signal. Any thoughts? Is the switch bad or in need of a little grease? All works as it should when I signal for a left turn. Thanks.   Dave R.

ok, this is incredibly simple . if your engine runs more than around 10 degrees hotter than the t stat rating most of the time, your cooling system is insufficient and/or your ignition timing is likely not advanced enough.

also, you should run at least a 180 t stat, and with a big rad and high flow pump, you should run a high quality high flow t stat like a milodon.

also, cars seem to have gotten along just fine for the last 200 years without this magical stuff . if it aint broke, dont try to fix it . this being said, it is good for one thing which is making your wallet a whole lot lighter which i guess can make your car just a little bit faster.

Well your worried about the GT stripe pretending, what about the Grande rocker?
Sometimes less is more, The Cragers and wheel well trim with black wall tires make a statement.
For stripes, consider some highlighting pin stripping down the sides.

I agree with bernett468, the radiator is very likely not up to the task.  Also, make certain your fan clutch is okay.  Maybe swap it out for a new thermostatic fan clutch and don't opt for the least expensive fan clutch.  With those, you get what you pay for.

Cooling systems were marginal at best for cars of this era.  Overheating issues do not surprise me.  I've mentioned it many times, as a kid seeing cars overheated on the side of the road during hot summer days was a common occurrence back in the 1970's.

Plus new motors run hotter due to increased friction and cylinder pressures.  Boring 0.030" can also contribute to higher operating temperatures.  Good luck.  There is a lot of heat packed into a small engine compartment with very little way for it to escape.

+1 on what's been said on the switch and the feed wires. Also check the chassis grounds, clean them well, bare metal no paint.

Dave R. got a reaction from RPM in Value of a 69 or 70 R Code Mach 1
My Mach 1, as has been said many times before "These cars are worth whatever someone is willing to pay". With that said my '69 R code was restored over a 2 1/2 year period and finished about 15 months ago. I hired someone to do the work as I have no qualification for such a project. But this is the car that I wanted. The car was a mess, but ran, when I bought it. PO had started a resto and gave up. Last July I needed a professional appraisal to secure insurance through my DD/homeowners insurance company. All costs considered if I sold the car today I would clear about $14,00. If someone walked into my garage with an offer to buy the car at the appraised value I would kindly refuse. Some may think that I am nuts but I suspect that a lot of fellow 'stangers share my sentiment. Buying a car that you truly want to have and hold is one thing. Does it matter if the car goes up in value? Or down? If buying, fixing and flipping it is your intention then the price you pay for it becomes even more important. Mine sat in my garage for 11 years before the time was right for me to start the restoration. Good luck. Dave R.

Part of the value, since it is fairly subjective and depends on what the buyers want is, how do you plan to use the car? For collector value, the V code rear car in probably worth more, but would you rather have an automatic car with a gear ratio that would drive you nuts on the highway? I would rather row the gears through a 3.50 if I planned any real windshield time with my purchase.

Sports Car Market Pocket Price Guide lists a CJ Mach with a median of $57,200. After that, popular colors, 4 speed vs auto, SCJ options, etc all add or subtract from that. An Acapulco Blue car will usually sell for more than a white or Silver Jade car, a 4 speed will usually get more than automatics, SCJ cars will certainly get more, etc.

Whatever you do, get a Marti on what you are considering.

Is there a tire treatment that leaves the tire looking like new not shiny like it is covered in grease? I dislike the shiny, wet look and would like to to find a cleaner that leaves the tire looking like the tire did when it was new. Any suggestions? And no, I have not tried any cleaners as I am unsure which one will suit my need.  Thanks.   Dave R.

Dave R. got a reaction from henkster in Which parts supplier should I go with??
From early 2013 thru early 2015 I purchased approx. $19,000 worth of parts for my car. I would estimate that about $12-14,000 of that was from CJ Pony. They were most helpful and fair. I don't know about price but with their shipping included I found it easier to keep track of. Rarely did they not have what I needed. I did buy some shaker pieces from Mansfield Restoration. Positive experiences there also.   Dave R.

This benefit show is a primary source of funding to allow the fields to operate. Last years show drew over 200 cars under a crystal blue sky. The show flyer is attached.

Fairfield, Ohio is in southwestern Ohio about 20 minutes north of Cincinnati. Easy access from I-275.       Dave R.
