Don't mind coupes but the fastback is in a styling league all on its own. Sensational.

To each his own. You are certainly in the minority, but there are some badass coupes out there for sure. By no means do I think any of them are ugly.
I prefer the sportsroof over the coupe for the 69-70, but like the 67-68 coupes better than the fastbacks.

Dave R. got a reaction from jholmes217 in Which radio do i get
Brian, I'm with you. I did have my factory am/fm stereo unit overhauled because it didn't work at all but it still plays through a coaxial speaker in the dash.I prefer to hear the 428 Comp Cams Thumpr series bellow than listen to the radio. Dave R.

Dave R. reacted to jholmes217 in 190 temp on 180 thermostat
If your fan is hitting the shroud at one location, you could trim the shroud where it hits. The flex fan probably doesn't help either. My car overheated in a parade last year, and I was using a new aluminum radiator, factory reproduction shroud, and a flex fan. Thermostat was a new Robert Shaw 195 degree. I put a reproduction clutch fan on it, and ran it in my garage for about 20 minutes after it warmed up as a test, and it stayed in the 200 degree area. That was idling with the front end of the car in the enclosed end of the garage getting no wind, so I'd say the new fan fixed my problem. It did hit the shroud at the bottom, so I trimmed the shroud until it didn't rub anymore. Does it rob power? Probably. But a overheated car with the hood up and steam rolling out makes zero power.

Pretty sure FORD selected matte/textured black for a reason. Probably the same reason the cowling on the P-51 MUSTANG was painted Matte Black. Brian

Thanks to all of you that take the time and effort to clean up the spam messes to keep this forum tidy. Great job doing what must at times seem like a endless task. Dave R.

I think you have the wrong screws. As I recall, the screw heads have to seat down in the socket far enough to allow the rivet portion of the head to clear the screw head. I think that Dot was the maker of the originals but they could have been made by Rau. Regardless, I think your problem is the incorrect screw. Dave R.

Thanks. I guess that the lack of a/c is more of a minor inconvenience than anything else. Not complaining you see. Dave R.

Dave R. got a reaction from Raven R code in Wrapping up this ~4 year Restoration
A/C. What is that? Oh. Air conditioning. Yeah. Does not apply to 4 speed 428 Mach 1's. For me, A/C is opening the kick panel vents to allow searing flamethrower-like heat to enter the car singeing the hair from my legs. Worth it in my opinion although I would us the A/C if so equipped. Dave R.

Dave R. reacted to det0326 in Hood Alignment for Dummies
most of the time u can lower the back of the hood down by loosening the three apron/hinge bolts on each side and get someone to push up at the front of the hood and hold it while you tighten the bolts up.

Congratulations Randy on a fine product and service you provide. The way I see those numbers is like this, we're not only smart enough to buy the best looking Mustang ever, we're smart enough to buy the best/economical wiring for our Stangs.

Dave R. reacted to Midlife in ~ 1969 light socket question
The actual contact is a brass-like material, but many bulb sockets contain bakelite compounds as well. I'd recommend disassembling the socket completely if you are going to get them replated.

All of my washer stuff was gone, as were a lot of other parts, when I bought mine. The connector should be hanging from the harness like LindenBruce said. Dave R.

That's not too bad of a combination for a daily street driver. Since it will see a lot of highway miles, if it has a high stall speed torque converter, make certain the cruise RPM is greater than the stall speed of the torque converter. Otherwise, it's possible for the trans fluid temps to get too high.

Dave R. got a reaction from Alan_Mac in Whats your favorite wheel for a Mach 1
My Mach 1, I love the look of the Magnums but EVERYONE is running them. I wanted something other than that so I went with the 15" version of the stock GT wheel. All chrome so no trim ring needed. Makes for a neater look. At least to my eye. Using the stock caps also. Dave R.

Dave R. reacted to 1969_Mach1 in Whats your favorite wheel for a Mach 1
I like the original chrome Styled Steel wheels on the 69 Mach 1's. Still have the original's on my Mach 1. If they were to ever be replaced I'd probably go with the 15x7 repro versions of them. Magnum 500's are nice. But they are like the Chevrolet Camaro. Millions of them out there. If you look closely at the Magnum 500's, you'll notice they were not specific to Ford and other car mfg's also used them, but with different center caps. If you want a Magnum 500, there are some billet aluminum versions that look close to the steel wheel.
