Dave R. got a reaction from lalojamesliz in Kill Switches and how to Protect your Car
After retiring from the police department I went to work as a armed deputy bailiff for the local municipal court. One of our duties was hauling prisoners from the county jail to our court and back. We had a 15 passenger van for such purpose. The municipal garage mechanics installed a switch under the rubber mat, the van had factory installed rubber mat on the floor instead of carpeting. This switch was unable to be seen yet had to be depressed and held down while turning the key for starting. Should we become overpowered by a prisoner they could not start the van for a getaway. Dave R. got a reaction from Mach1 Driver in 3 pt seat belt experience
My '69 Mach 1 had no belts when I bought it. When the time came for belts I bought the 3 point set-up that Juliano's Hot Rod parts sells. No drilling. Works great. The shoulder belt could use a drop down that Juliano's has. I just have not made that purchase yet. Dave R.

Dave R. got a reaction from RPM in Need Holley 4279 venturi body
A couple of years ago I went to Chris's Carbs in Dayton, OH for some carb help. Chris and his son, also named Chris, are the only employees. Dad is a older guy and has been overhauling carbs since he was a teen. He had several huge piles of carb carcasses on the floor and on work tables. He may be able to help. 937 890-0970. I think he told me that he does the dichromate treatment also. He has a big block Chevy on a test stand where they test and adjust carbs. Dave R.

Dave R. reacted to Mach1 Driver in Steering gear box
The Stangs have what is known as Non-Integral Power Steering, and for the gear box it refers to the Manual Steering as shown above. It doesn't say a whole lot about the gear box removal, but there is more on disassembly of the box and repair. Actually I would send it to http://www.chockostangclassicmustang.com/ for refurbishment.
This Autorestomod episode is more instructive than the manual and a Fairlane is pretty close to a Stang in this regard:

Dave R. got a reaction from pw520a in looking for stock 69 big block air cleaner
Bill is interesting to talk to. I have bought several items from him. I needed a air cleaner base and lid and snorkel for my R code. Some of those repro parts are fiberglass and I did not like that idea. Very nice quality and Bill has them made by the original contractor to Ford. Bill seldom answers the phone but will return your call. Good luck. Dave R.

Dave R. got a reaction from RPM in National Mustang Day Event
Loved our visit to the museum in October. We missed the Bullitt by a week or two the lady at the door said. Neat place although I'm not sure why they have moved across the street but I may be able to get back there later this year. I am far from politically correct but a caravan of vehicles stopping at bars seems a little extreme these days. I am not anti-drinking as I used to do way too much of it. A quad bypass and certain threats by a thoracic surgeon and a cardiologist put a roaring halt to that. 16 years of having beer, wine and liquors in the house for guests and I drink iced tea or soda. Maybe the booze cruise isn't such a bad idea and I am placing myself in the cruise and imagining my behavior if it were 20 years ago. Dave R.

Dave R. reacted to Midlife in heat creep at idle
When the heat is on here in Tucson, lots of creeps idle around open bedroom windows...just saying...

Dave R. reacted to unilec in heat creep at idle
The thermostat is there to reduce water flow though your radiator to help get the engine up to temperature quicker, once fully open say about 180 F, it serves no further need. First thing to check would be your timing, but temps of 195 to 205 F are normal. More damage is done to an engine running at to low a temperature.

Dave R. got a reaction from Grabber70Mach in The Omega Man
We all have our opinions and I agree with you Raven. Farrah may very well have been the most beautiful woman in Hollywood. At least in that era. In December of 1976 we moved into our newly completed house. I installed a TV antenna and rotor (no cable in the new neighborhood at the time) on the chimney during a snow storm/blizzard so as not to miss Charlie's Angels that night. Dave R.

Dave R. got a reaction from barnett468 in Mach 1 Carpet
I'm with you there barnett468. As I drove towards their building I could not imagine what was going on with this car parked in the front lot with the doors open and the seats and carpet sitting on the car roof. Very odd looking but as I walked towards the building I figured it out. I wonder how long that car smelled like resin? Dave R.

Dave R. got a reaction from RPM in '69-70 O.E. 4BBL Carb Accelerator Cable Brackets ...
In a grommet in the top rear of the pass side valve cover. I will correct my earlier post statement. I opted for using the '70 428 vacuum setup on my '69 for a reason that now eludes me. The '70 throttle bracket has a dip in it to allow the vacuum hose to clear the bracket as it comes out of the lower rear port of the carb and goes to the pcv which is in the pass valve cover. The carb port can be seen clearly in the picture above posted by stangs-are-me. The '69 setup did not use that port so the bracket was flat where it passes under the rear carb bowl. No dip or depression in it. My limited experience is with the 428 motor only. I recall "modifying" my bracket to allow the vacuum hose to clear. Dave R.

You are welcome. White mats. Who would need such a thing? Maybe for a show only car. I can't even give these things away. Dave R.
