well if you are going to mod it, please save all stock parts. if you ever decide to sell it down the road it will help the car sell faster because you saved all your original parts.
+1 on this. The originals are getting harder to find all the time. Dave R.

Thanks skidmarky. I am familiar with that product as I used it years ago. I didn't realize that the new formula is being criticized. I think that tires that look like they have been coated with gloss black paint look unnatural. Thanks again. Dave R.

Black Jade, I used the Ford Tooling sills from CJ. They went on perfectly and look great. If the car wasn't covered for winter storage I would shoot a picture to you. Dave R.

Is there a tire treatment that leaves the tire looking like new not shiny like it is covered in grease? I dislike the shiny, wet look and would like to to find a cleaner that leaves the tire looking like the tire did when it was new. Any suggestions? And no, I have not tried any cleaners as I am unsure which one will suit my need. Thanks. Dave R.

Looks like you're headed in the right direction. Get well soon. Good luck. Dave R.

It is correct. If I recall correctly the '69 rivets were round and in '70 they went to hex or octagon shaped, I'm not sure which. That was an attempt to discourage fraud as those floret shaped rivets were not readily available to the public. Dave R.

So the amp draw of these lights stays under the breaker that is in the factory headlight switch? No relays needed? Great. What kind of tabs needed to be broken off? +2 on the thanks for sharing. Dave R.

TinMan, I think you need a drill, a socket and an extension to turn the oil pump. The pump turns in reverse on the drill as I recall. Haven't done this kind of work in a few years. Make sure that the socket won't come off the extension. Stripping down an old, junk distributor and using that shaft is a good idea. Good luck. Dave R.

I used 3 point belts from Juliano's. Work and fit great, FMVSS approved and assortment of colors. No drilling. Matching lap belts for the rear seat. Somewhere on their website there is, or used to be, pictures of their belt being installed in a '69 sportsroof. Dave R.

If the flapper is open full time won't rain and wash water get into the carb? I believe that the manifold fitting that supplies vacuum for my brake booster has a nipple on it for the flapper vacuum hose. Dave R.

I purchased Dynacorn quarters for my '69 sportsroof at the request of my restorer. He had used Dynacorn panels before and had nothing but good things to say about them. Fortunately I didn't need any other sheet metal so I can't comment on the other panels that you need JamesS. Good luck. Dave R.

No prob . . Also, you can actually probably buy a cap that fits over the snorkel hole in the base if you don't want to run a snorkel at all . . I have never bought one so I am not certain it will fit but it might be worth a try.
Here's a link to the photo . . The site won't let me post the actual photo.
Will the motor get enough air with that cap in place? Doesn't the flapper open only under low vacuum? Dave R.
I guess we were posting at the same time.

Check your zoning laws is good info. The canopies are illegal in many areas not just a case of paying a fee to have one. Dave R.

Nice!
Pretty clever although I think he got the idea from elsewhere but still great for my needs. Thanks. Dave R.

A Christmas present made by the shop owner/technician that services my DD's. He makes these plaques and clock also. Perfect for a garage/man cave. My being a Ford guy he made my clock from a Ford wheel cover. I can furnish his name and number if you are interested. Dave R.

jgkurz, I checked today. Yes, my stock radiator is a 3 row. Good luck. Dave R.

Hey Dave; sent you a message about that 6 blade fan you were running. Brian
Brian, I replied to your pm. Dave R.

Hi Dave, Is your stock radiator a 3-row?
I am 99% sure that is. I will check tomorrow and let you know. The car is at my restoration guy's for a couple of tweaks and I am supposed to pick it up tomorrow. Dave R.

My re-cored stock radiator works well for my 428CJ. The shroud and fan are important as well as the proper fan clutch, temp sender and T stat. I was running a 6 blade fan for a 428 but that was not the correct one. The correct fan for my use has 7 blades and an offset in the hub that locates the fan a little closer to the radiator. At the same time the fan is surrounded more by the shroud. The extra air moved by the 7th blade and being closer to the radiator lowered my operating temp about thirty degrees. Good luck. Dave R.

My one experience with a similar situation found me starting the engine and letting it idle. After checking for good oil pressure the engine warmed and as the oil circulated the engine gradually smoothed out and after about 7-8 minutes was purring. The lifters apparently pumped up as the oil circulated. This was with the 12-15 year old oil, nasty spark plugs and a ounce or 2 of lacquer thinner dumped down the carb to get the motor started. Your situation may not be all gloom and doom. Dave R.
