I can vouch for that. I did it and while I love the fact that it's original, driving directly into the sun is a challenge I could live without. I'll probably change it out someday.

Thanks Moodster, I would really appreciate a look at your beam pattern. And yes his answers are imprecise and vague, but I have the advantage of being an Electrical Engineer, and we are VERY anal about testing. I'm not sure of Pete's background. What concerns me most is stray light shining up that would reflect off fog or rain and cause unsafe driving conditions. I fired off this reply to his email:
    Pete,
Your third gen video is of 7" beams is it not, and the wall is 2-3 feet away? A typical method to adjust headlights is: Park your vehicle 25 feet from a wall, and place a piece of tape horizontally 4 feet high across the wall in front of your vehicle. Turn on the low beams. Adjust the headlights until they shine on the tape. I think the whole forum would be skeptical of something that didn't show that pattern. We're car guys, and that's how its done. To prove the value of your product you really need to perform an industry standard test with 5.75" beams, and show the pattern on low and high. Can you do that please?
Your description of the amp draw is 2 amps with low and high together, at 12.1 volts. So each of the low and high LEDs are 1 amp? By the way, the alternator will no doubt be charging and the voltage is more likely to be around 14v. Using our stock harness and kick switch, two filaments are never on at the same time in one OEM PAR46 4002 outside light, and the Par46 4001 inside light only has one filament which is high. We have a total of 6 filaments, two lows and 4 highs. If my assumption that each LED draws 1 amp is correct, then only the outside beams are on in low, and this would give us 2 amps total, while 4 are on in high giving us 4 amps? Would you verify this please? This is of course much better than filament bulbs that give us totals of 7.82 amps in low and 11.72 amps on high.
Thanks and we await your reply

I can confirm that the new LED lights I installed work extremely well for me.  I'm not a lighting professional but the beam looks focused and is far brighter then the old halogens.  After some slight aim adjustments to the beam, driving with them at night is a pleasure.  The only negatives from a purely stock perspective is that the light is far whiter and the pigtail/controller coming off the back of the light must be tied up somewhere.  The lens is not noticeably different from stock - most won't be able to tell it is LED.

dont tighten the H pipe nuts until the rest of the exhaust is on because it may have to be positioned slightly differently with the pipes attached.

Jack up the front end where both tires are off the ground, start up, how does it turn then? If steering wheel goes back and forth violently by itself, small hoses are hooked up wrong. Warning!!! Don't stink your hand in the wheel trying to stop it, you'll lose your wrist!!

looks good Dave, may want to get the brake lines in and attached before the motor goes in, the rear and tunnel could be real fun if you dont

Summit racing posted a video years ago testing the strength of the carb plate mounted in an aluminum intake, and it took more that 4000lbs before things started to distort, if memory serves. Doesn't seem right with 4 little bolts, but it is plenty strong for even an FE. If it doesn't distort, I seriously doubt any intake gaskets are in jeopardy either.

It IS a big deal because he wanted to install it with the exhaust manifolds attached . Again, cobra jet ex manifolds are NOT 390 exhaust manifolds . I have installed countless ford engines and of course it is easy without the exhaust manifolds , that's not news to me . He has already contacted me and I explained to him over the phone how I do it and if he runs into a problem while he is installing it I told him he could call me again.

Here is a couple of pics for you ,a 429 Boss on the assembly line getting set in place complete ,even has the H pipe bolted on .If they could do that ,a 428 with the tranny bolted on should be a piece of cake, and it really is .

As per my earlier post, 390 with super comps on and C6 all in together , no marks on the new paint and all bolted up in under 2 hours.
Three people needed. I took it out by myself.
The super comps had just been ceramic coated and no marks on them.

No you don't have to alter the wiring harness or the headlight holders.  The new bulbs plug right in but you do have to deal with about a foot of additional wire and the led controller.

Raven, the link is not working, are you referring to the lower control arm bolt at the frame the one you want to replace?. If so I think you could replace the bolt with the coil springs in just put a floor jack under the lower control arm.

this is what i have done numerous times with cj's.
install trans then jagk it all they way up under the bell housing until it stops then lower if 1/4".
    have manifolds surfaced
    tap holes in heads
    use new bolts
    put grease on bolt threads.
    install drivers side manifold
drape a thick towel over the passenger shock tower.
wire tie the right manifold to the shock tower or ave someone hold it n place
lower the engine then engage it to the trans.
install the right manifold . you may have to lower the engine around 1 inch to do this.
lower the engine onto the mounts.
