  1. 1969 and 1970 Cougar XR7's had hood lights that were mercury switched.
  2. Here's a picture of where mine are mounted on my '70. 3.5" from center to center.
  3. The MSRP is less than that auction is going for now. $169.99 from what I've been told. I have a mint original I've been holding onto that may have to make it on eBay in the near future...
  4. All of the parts should be Ivy green for your car. The cars with the white interiors had some parts in black (like the trap door and side panels) to reduce glare.
  5. Deluxe seatbelts have a chrome trim ring around the buckle in 1969 and are a brushed aluminum in 1970. The "Brake System" I believe is tied to the switch built into your proportional valve.
  6. Did your car have a factory tach? The combination of options is what made the factory install lights for park or brake light come onto the dash. For instance, my 1970 Mach has the Tach, deluxe seatbelts, and convenience group. The convenience group included a parking brake light, which had to be installed in the lower dash since I had a tach cluster w/o the "BRAKE" lens. My car also had deluxe seatbelts, which had a timed reminder light in the lower dash. It turns off after a few seconds.
  7. Mike, I would do the following: 1. Buy a Vintage Air Gen IV kit for a factory AC car. It's a great kit, I have one and can speak from experience. 2. Buy a factory lower dash from an AC car with the vents (very common - Cougars had them as well). Make sure it is from a 1969 as the 1970 one is different. Also pick up an AC center vent from ebay or another source (or get a 1969-1970 Cougar AC vent which is similar). 3. While you're in there, two boxes of Dynamat extreme and a layer of Reflectix from Lowes on top of it. Will seal up the misc holes in the dash and help keep the inside cooler from engine / trans / exhaust heat. 4. Enjoy the cold air experience of a modern car with the look of a factory installed system.
  8. Don Rush of West Coast Classic Cougar has them: http://www2.cougarpartscatalog.com/19mirenutwan.html Order an extra one and I'd be happy to buy it from you, I need one as well. They cost as much to ship as they do to buy.
  9. I am selling an autolite 4300 off of a '70 Mach 1 351c 4v on eBay now if you need a good rebuildable core. http://www.ebay.com/itm/321403753519?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
  10. I'm with Mike. That doesn't look anything like the park light in my car.
  11. This has been discussed a few times and there's some great info on here if you search for it. That said, RIT dye from the grocery store/Wal-Mart works excellent at restoring color and texture. If your chrome is good and the belts aren't frayed, using RIT fabric dye will bring them back to like-new.
  12. Mike, my '70 was ordered with the tach, convenience group, and deluxe seat belts. It has both of the lights. The "Belts" light comes on when you start the car and goes off after a few seconds.
  13. My '70 has the park and belt lights in the same place as above. Is the hole in your dash round with a little slot? Hard to explain but that's what mine look like without the light assembly in it. A round hole with one small extra notch cut out around the circle. Yours may have the same if it's a factory install. Possibly since your car only has the park light, they mounted it on the lh side?
  14. Cougar's didn't have them - their parking brake warning light was in the cluster itself.
  15. Thanks - and yes, 4 barrel heads and 4 bolt mains. The block is a D2AE-CA, which is a CJ block. It's a little later than the car but has been rebuilt with some very nice parts so I'm going to use it in my car.
  16. Project update - car is still away getting the metal work done, next in the queue at the body shop. I've been working on the 351 cleveland detailing it. It was just rebuilt but while it's out I wanted to fully detail and clean it. 4 Bolt mains! Chemically stripped, wire wheeled, and repainted Ford blue. I'm going to have the original "Power by Ford" valve covers chromed but these edelbrocks will keep it clean in the meantime.
  17. Kris, those are all good comments and I agree w/you. Smaller parts are much preferred. Thankfully, under some of the larger parts is mix of smaller and new pieces. There's 1970 tinted bolt in glass and brackets, nice sport mirrors, two car's worth of fastback trim, plus a nice set of Mach 1 side cladding.
  18. I've been through all the parts already - the two cars were at a different location so all I have is pictures of those. I see you're local - my goal would be to get these cars/parts on to new homes quickly. I'd rather break even and get a few parts for my car than have these sit in my shop and take up space.
  19. Thanks for sharing. A lot of good reproductions coming out this year.
  20. NPD one is great. Lighter than original but a great, quality piece overall. At a fair price, too.
  21. Hi all, good morning. I came across a bunch of 1970 Mustang parts locally and am considering picking them up. I have the means to store them but would really prefer to turn them around pretty quickly. I'll try and describe what's here and would be interested in everyone's thoughts. I am always looking for nice parts for my '70, and thought this might be worth doing. I've parted out cars in the past and if I could get a few Mach 1 parts for my car and pass along some good project/parts cars to the rest of the Mustang community, I'd do this deal. I posted this on the VMF but didn't get a lot of responses and will be looking at the cars today. Here's the specifics and some photos: What's included: 1970 Fastback shell, 302/auto AC car. Has solid roof, frame, cowl, and fender aprons. Someone had stripped it to restore it and didn't get any farther. 1970 coupe, 351w-2v AC car w/PS and PDB and 9" rear. Runs/drives but isn't worth restoring. Has AC dash intact. Storage locker of parts - mach 1 rocker trim, new sheetmetal, fastback window trim, set of bolt in 70 glass, and much more. No home runs here - no consoles, no tachs, fold down is only two panels, etc but some nice parts. The guy wants $2,800 for the cars and parts. Seems high but with the prices I see people asking for fastback stuff, it doesn't seem too crazy. I don't need a lot of these parts but there were some nice ones in there I wouldn't mind using on my car. Unfortunately the fastback doesn't have a title so I would need to get one through broadway or a similar service, or just part the car out. Vins come out clean in SC and NC DMV. Someone parted out a 70 Mach 1 years ago and had collected these parts to do the fastback, it just never happened. What do you all think? And of course, here's some pictures. I have a 4 car garage I could put these in and the guy will deliver it all. I sell on eBay pretty regularly but this is a lot to box/ship, and at $2,800 I know the seller is getting the better end of the deal.
  22. Agreed. I only paid $300 shipped (off eBay) for a mint clock panel and 1970 instrument cluster with nice original chrome. And that wasn't in 2000, that was about 4 months ago.
  23. As the seller of the item, I must say I was equally shocked. At least the money went to a good cause, the build of my 1970. The high bidder is in Norway. I've actually had emails from people who didn't win the auction asking me to install the di-noc on theirs or sell them this one if the buyer backs out.
  24. I have that exact crossmember. No headers though. It's a nice solid piece and has the slotted mounting points so it should fit easier.
