  1. Hood was painted with Hot Rod Black using the stencil the vendors sell. Very nice! Dried satin.
  2. It's painted!! Came out PERFECT - now to wetsand and buff, then assemble.
  3. Was your car a factory air car? Do you have the larger non-AC box or the smaller AC glove box?
  4. It's hard to stop the sound, products like Dynamat do help out with the vibration though. I used Dynamat on my car and a layer of heat insulation and the vibration and heat were both cut down noticeably. Night and day difference. Sealing your firewall will make the biggest difference to keep noise from getting in. Also spending extra time to make sure your windows are propertly aligned also helps.
  5. Got the TKO 600 back from American Powertrain, after UPS LOST IT!! They finally found it and I've gotten it hooked up to the motor. Apparently the 302 T5/TKO spacer place doesn't work on the 351C so I had to order a flat one. And some parts are getting color! Paint cost was a total sticker shock, PPG. Over $2k wholesale...
  6. i have a fastback that will eventually need the door pieces, and am willing to do this - I have a wholesale account with a local supplier. I'll PM you my phone #.
  7. After over a year, I may actually own a '70 Mach 1! I went the SPI black epoxy. It should dry a little flatter and be satin. I didn't go with the red oxide since it was originally a grey/green slop underneath which was correct for the '70. I like the engine bay and underbody being the same color.
  8. I have a pair of these in good condition and will get you pictures tonight and post them on here.
  9. Dave, I can pick up a pack of the earlier lights the next time I'm at NPD. Here's the BELTS light on mine, which is now just blank red. The second I touched it with a towel the lettering came off. I don't know of any way to get it back, though there is a faint ridge on it.
  10. Will the deluxe lights for the '67-'68 cars work? I would be interested in one of the "belts" lenses as the lettering is worn off mine. They made two different styles so my "Belts" light is slightly different.
  11. I don't think you'll find someone to cut the di-noc. I used marine teak for '70 and it was an exact match to what was under the "MACH I" emblem on the dash which had not been exposed to sun. When you apply the Di-noc with a heat gun, it will form to what you are applying it to, and you can get some clean and detailed cuts with a sharp exacto-knife. Make sure the underlying surface is spotless as even a grain of sand will show in the final product.
  12. Progress! New headers - FC4 Sanderson. And it's on it's side! Getting a full round of bodywork and seam sealing on the underside. Any tips on what paint to use for the final coat? I would like something durable. The underside does not appear to have ever been red oxide based on the colors of primer that exist under the undercoat.
  13. ONto the rotisserie to have the bottom stripped and painted red oxide. Progress! Shop is focusing on my car until it's finished so the next few weeks should see some real progress. I've actually been very pleased the cars been at the shop a while, it's given me a lot of time to find, buy, upgrade, and sell off extra parts I didn't need. You can't rush these projects or they can really overwhelm you.
  14. It's been a long time since I gave an update on the car, well, not much has changed! The body shop has turned their focus back to my car after taking on a few side jobs. Anyway, the car was blocked out again and put in final prime. It will be mounted to the rotisserie Tuesday and the underside cleaned, seam sealed, and painted red oxide primer as original. I can't wait! After that, it's back on the ground for some color and putting all those pieces back together. I forget how complicated 1970 Mach 1's are relative to the earlier years, and when you add in all the extra options / wiring / etc on this car, it's been a lot! However, I feel like we're about to make some real progress. Maybe a Grabber Orange summer? Here's some photos the body shop sent me. They are working on it in their home shop, and will take it in to a commercial paint/body shop and paint the color in a booth.
  15. Everywhere I look there's pictures of the excellent progress you're making on the '66. Loving it!
  16. Pak, I've been selling on eBay pretty consistently for the past 13 years, and am currently a Top Rated Seller on there. A few things before you list anything: What you paid for something and what it's worth now are two drastically different things, so price your items based on what others have been selling for If you are selling an item, be sure to search sold/completed auctions to get an idea of the value. If you can't find the item on there or something close, it's possible buyers aren't really looking for your item. Popularity trumps rarity here People need to be able to find your items, so use keywords in your title to try and attract buyers, as long as they relate to the item. If you are selling multiple related items, mention that in your listing. When I sell Mustang stuff on there, I look at the bidders and its the same ones across multiple auctions, even if they don't end up winning it - they drive up the price.
  17. Mike, That would be really cool to see it on there. I've been trying to think of the best way to clean up the underside and engine bay once the new metal is in. I would like to get it media blasted but my sand blast guy would likely have a hard time getting underneath it. What are your thoughts here, dustless blasting? What have you done in the past?
  18. Great work on the rotisserie, are you going to powder coat the metal or just paint it? It would be so cool to see the convertible on there.. Of course at this point it would break in (at least) two!
  19. Thanks! It does seem to be a pretty active area. In fact, I just brought home today a '70 F100 to resell, along with a number of really nice 69/70 Mustang parts that came as part of the package. 1970 D0ZB rear wing, original rear window louvers with hardware, mint '69 Console, perfect 390 GT exhaust manifolds, '68 Argent styled steel wheels, '69 Mach 1 pop open cap, NOS '69 roof emblems, etc. I think this truck will make a great and inexpensive project for someone.
  20. Not the best pictures, but she's just about ready for paint. It's been pretty cold up here so the body shop has been focused on another car. However, I'm sure they're about as ready to have it leave their garage as I am to get it back! Also picked up a new set of wheels that was a deal I couldn't pass up (ever heard that before?) I got them for my '66 convertible but I think the tires may be a bit too big. 15x8's. Anyone recognize the brand?
  21. I rebuilt my original AC box in my '69 Mustang Mach 1 a few years ago, it worked ok with the sanden conversion. I have a '70 Corvette now that I put the vintage air gen iv kit in. It works amazing and I had it installed in just a few hours with almost no modifications to the car. When I pulled the AC box from my '70 Mach 1, I sold it on the forums here because I plan to put vintage air in my '70. The car is not "strictly hot rod" and looks mostly stock. Unless you really know what you're looking at, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. It uses the stock controls / vents. And on a hot/cold day, you'll be glad you have it. Just wanted to give a different opinion. I also know a dealer that sells it for a pretty fair price (less than you can get it for on eBay), pm me if you want his contact info.
