  1. Yep, Randy, the tach is in kilometers. 71,000 is around 38,000 miles. If it's original, that's pretty cool. As far as the little add-ons, I know there were several mandatory (by law) dealer installed mods. I do not know them all, but you'll see different lights in the back, and a couple other stuff. I'll ask some who know all these by heart and get back to you guys. What I can tell you is that those original DSO 90 Mustangs are very coveted and more collectible over here (Ford France only imported them from 65 to 73, and today again since 2015). G
  2. Answer is yes! And what do you find in barns? Old Mustangs... This one is a rare export (DSO 90). Even in the 60's, Mustangs being our "exotics", they were way more expensive on this side of the pond, and therefore were exclusive to wealthy people. All imported cars were the same "standard": GT, fully loaded with all the bells and whistles. Manual transmission (always), no A/C (different climate), no console and no power steering (different habits). Same owner from 69 to 06. Was sold to a friend by original owner in 06 and stored away until today. For sale now, somewhere in the south of France, for around $20k... Even the air cleaner snorkel is still there. I bet the build sheet is waiting patiently somewhere in that car... Enjoy the pics! https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/kaezias/sets/72157672360241093/ Here is the listing: https://www.leboncoin.fr/voitures/1035907699.htm?ca=12_s G
  3. I tried to solve that issue on my Grant Wheel for 5 years. Unsuccessful. Those wheels are very poor quality IMHO: The wood gets very sticky when the weather is damp, the horn mechanism is crap and shorts all the time, and when temperature gets a little warm inside, the horn button pops off the wheel on its own and falls... I grew tired of that brand and got myself another wheel. A real nice top shelf one (LeCarra). Couldn't be happier! G
  4. Exactly. Or a very long nose! Lol. I also struggle to put that thing back together ever time. It does takes some patience... G
  5. On my car (351W/Toploader/9"), front and rear U-joints are different. G
  6. I am sorry but have to say that based on my personal experience and reading all you guys stories, there is something fundamentally messed up about the way US insurance companies run their business. These are no insurance but lawyer firms looking for law suits and big bucks. Nothing else. I just can't get it... Why would anyone think it's ok to professionally encourage someone to lie about some neck injury to get money taken away from someone else? Isn't that theft? Doctors lying about fake injuries? That's what I was told I should do, when I had my share of crap with USAA. "Just pretend you got neck pain". Really? Can't we just get covered for what really happened, no less no more? Oh and by the way, what about something we call "Honor Code"? Seriously... G
  7. LeCarra is way above Corso in terms of quality. Two different worlds. I got one of those Corso Feroce and was very disappointed by the quality... Pretty much like the rest of what SD sells these days: crap. The Corso wheel stayed two months on my car and was swiftly replaced by a LeCarra. After 9,000 miles, I am still amazed by the beauty and the feel of that wood steering wheel. G
  8. Thanks guys for all your help with this. I'll pass all this good info on to the owner. I do have the Marti book with all decoding info for tags and all. We do not really trust the tag on the intake, as an intake can easily be swapped. The car assembly date showing on the Dataplate might be "iffy" as well. Does this Dataplate (shape and scripts) look correct for a 67? Not sure... Still waiting for engine block casting numbers. Will keep you posted. G
  9. Wouldn't a special order have a specific DSO code?
  10. Roger that Randy... Thanks. G
  11. Well, the thing is the VIN stamped on the fender aprons matche the Dataplate. With the mysterious X. The stars on both sides of the VIN are missing though. Could that mean something? Mistamped VIN is what comes to mind, of course. But who would use an X in lieu of a C or an A, when X coded engines appeared only for model year 1968? Could it be that they started assembling 68s with a few late production 67s still on the assembly line? #231864 seems like a fairly late production number to me. G
  12. I read some people would get rid of the windshield washer system when cowl was leaking, to avoid getting washer water under the front carpets. Therefore, when buying an old Mustang, some take the absence of the washer nozzles and hoses as a potential sign of rusted through cowls. That being said, I got my 69 like you, with everything gone. But the cowl was just fine and in really good shape. All I did was like the others said: got everything and installed it. Try and get stainless premium quality nozzles or they'll get rusty and ugly. Seeing it work after so many years without it was a blast! I kept using it just for fun and my wife thought I was nuts... G
  13. Bob, what a wonderful news! Paris. The city were freedom was born as a fundamental right (Liberty). To this day, the lunatic fools that choose to fight against Liberty still aim at this city to challenge it universally. Poor souls. As long as you visit Paris by yourself and stay away from the tourist buses and tours, you will have a greater time than ever. You can literally walk all around that place. Actually, if you physically can, this is how one must visit Paris: on foot! It'll probably take a few days, but like in any big city in the world, if you carefully pick places and areas, you'll see the real deal. You might even meet some real "parisiens" ;-) Don't believe what others say: they do speak English, as long as you do not demand it from them. Simply ask politely. Put yourself in there shoes. Places to go to? - Quartier Latin (Montagne St Geneviève, Le Panthéon et la Place des Grands Hommes, la rue Mouffetard, etc.) - Montmartre, because it is so peaceful and romantic! - Ile de la Cité, Ile St Louis, la chapelle St Louis - Walk from the Eiffel Tower to l'Arc de Triomphe, then down les Champs Elysees into the Tuileries all the way to the Louvre. That will take you half a day! - Visit Le Grand Palais, Le Musee d'Orsay, l'Hotel des Invalides, and so much more! By the way, I was born and raised in Paris, if you didn't guess by now. Oh yeah, allow me to add that malls are not what made Paris famous. Dubai has nicer malls if you ask me... LOL! Colmar is a very pretty little Alsacian town, not far at all from the border with Germany. I personally prefer Strasbourg, where I lived for 7 years, bigger and a lot more history there, but you'll love the cooking, the wine, and how pretty houses are. There are a couple old castles in the hills west of the town. Haut Koenigsbourg is the most famous. Don't miss it! At this time of year, the vineyard should be beautiful. They just finished the "vendanges" (grape picking?). Just a little advice: as close as Alsacian and German cultures may seem to you, don't make the mistake to compare them in the face of the locals. The alsacians are some of the proudest French around our nation. And they have not forgiven what Prussia did back in 1870. They call the rest of us "the French from the inside". That's because France lost Alsace and Lorraine to Prussia from 1870 until 1918. French people from these two regions were forced to become Germans. The French language was banned from life overnight, even in schools. Men were enrolled by force in the Prussian army to fight their own Nation... You may have never been told that "Freeing the brothers from Alsace and Lorraine" was the main reason why France went to war in 1914. As the little post WW1 poster says (about the French flag): "Now that it came back, let's make sure it's holding firm into the ground". As we know, things got bloody again 20 years later... Enjoy your trip in my beloved country Bob! G
  14. Hi guys, Ok, not a 69, I know. But this one is interesting, and I am sure you'll enjoy the challenge. It has been discussed on US Mustang forums in the past. The car is in France now. Here's a 67 with a really funky Dataplate. The VIN is not 67 correct (no X 390 engines in 67). Car is actually equipped with what seems to be an authentic 289. Marti seems clueless... What is your guess? Any idea? Stamping error on the assembly line? G
  15. Here's a "better" pic: 2 switches and 2 lights.
  16. 10-4. Sounds like a "Bandit" thing to have to get rid of the "smokeys", right? Thanks a lot ya'll! G
  17. Anybody knows what that is? Looks like 80's type mod. Was found on an all original non restored 69 Mach 1... Thanks for your help! G
  18. As far as your question goes, here's what I was told when I was considering this mod myself a couple years back: when you cut the hole in the sheet metal of your hood and then bolt the scoop back on, there's not much materiel left to hold it and the airflow rushing through the scoop at higher speeds tends to pull it and tear it away from the hood. I guess it depends on how big a hole you cut, but I personally decided that it was not worth destroying my original hood. Just my 0.02. G

    Road #4

Couldn't help sharing this Ford (Europe) video. We are so happy to see the Mustang finally make its way back in our Ford dealerships. It should never have stopped, if you ask me. Enjoy my friends! G
  20. Thanks Tim. That's very intereting! So may be you saw my car when it was brand new sitting in the parking lot or in the show room... That's pretty cool. G
  21. Same here! Anyways, I might have been born in a metric environment, I must admit that when I found out everything was metric on my 2013 Boss 302, I was a little disappointed. Inches are part of what makes an American muscle car exactky what it should be: American. G
  22. ROFL RPM!! If the rest of the world (using mm) is Nazi, God have mercy! :-)
  23. Drove the 69 as well this week-end. 600 miles. Cruised along the border between France and Switzerland with a bunch of other ponies. Car performed like a dream... Sweet wife came along and enjoyed every second of it. And France qualified for the semi-finals of the Euro. Life is good. G
  24. Well that was a nice surprise for sure!
  25. Hey Christian, Just in case it helps, I found a couple pics of my set-up. Will you be at Davy's this week-end, working on your car?
