  1. Just be sure to keep the shiny side up! Out of curiosity, is there any reason you couldn't just use an axle made for a 67/68 car? I thought those were supposed to be 1" narrower. I've heard of guys using these on the larger cars to have a deeper dish rear wheel.
  2. I've had a JMC kit on order since January, I'm going to call them up and yell at them some more. I was told it was a spacer they needed to have machined almost 2 months ago, then last week when I called they said they were boxing up 250 kits to send out. I still haven't seen it. I have the stuff to make a cable conversion but I have headers and don't want a melted cable. I may proceed with what I have but I'd prefer not to. If JMC's supplier is shutting down, I'm going to cancel the order. I'm looking at the Keisler kit, holy crap are they expensive! (compared to JMC, it's $200 more)
  3. This is a pretty sad sight. Weren't they buying running 67/68 cars to convert them and then sell them as Shelbys? Which in effect means they bought a running driving car, took it apart, then got busted, meaning a lot of good cars were taken off the road. I bet half of them will rot away or get scrapped.
  4. Ok so apparently they're called latch guides. Anyone know where to get them for less than the $42 each that CJ's is asking?
  5. I'm after these doohickeys that bolt on the back of the backrest of my fold down rear seat, it's the bracket that the seat lock fits into. One is missing from the driver's side and I have no idea what they're called. I'm guessing they're available at most Mustang outfitters (I hope) but if not let me know. Doohickey in question: Missing doohickey!
  6. It does, thanks! I just wound up cranking the bolts down, and I'll check them again after a couple days of driving.
  7. I know somewhere out there is a web page with every bolt torque spec on our cars but I can't remember where it is. My searches don't get me much. If anyone knows, can you post up a link? Anyway I'm bolting the back of my car back together and since I just bought a torque wrench I want to use it! My Chilton manual doesn't give a torque spec for the U-bolts on the axle and my leaf springs did not come with any instructions regarding it. Also, is there any way to torque down the shocks? They're on that rubber bushing and I have no idea if that is supposed to be cranked down or what. Same for the sway bar bushings (front and rear). What do I do about these?
  8. Morten- I heard Norway was expensive but damn! I hope you get paid well!
  9. I think bnickel has it right, someone made two cars out of one. They even included the extra taillights! (What's up with that anyway? Maybe that's why it turns so many heads)
  10. We wouldn't exactly catch up in gas prices, at least not in the same way as our European friends. 69 Convertible, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the reason for the price jump from the US to Europe is significantly higher gas taxes. I remember reading about it as "pricing to reflect the true cost of driving". It's supposed to go toward environmental cleanup, but also contributes to road repair. My brother-in-law (from London) would always mention that for a country that loves to drive, the US has some of the most poorly maintained roads in the world. London was nice smooth driving everywhere we went when I was over there, I'd guess the rest of Europe is the same. Considering my commute is getting so bad that my motorcycle (a Suzuki Bandit, also my summer DD) may need to be swapped out for a dual sport, I do find it ironic. However with all the extra gas prices we are not getting anything more in road tax, so the roads around here will contine to deteriorate. *sidenote* Oh, that gas tax holiday they keep talking about- bad news. That'll add up to more car repairs and cost you more money in the short and long run. Plus a lot of road crews getting laid off and that's never good! */sidenote*
  11. Rhetorical? I don't know the history of repop stuff for our cars, but I do know there was a shortage of LH fastback quarters for the 65-66 cars for a loooong time. As for the pictures, I'm just surprised someone would cut up a Boss or BB car unless they were very fargone in the first place. Even still, it's a little sad.
  12. Are you running stock brakes? Perhaps a vacuum reservoir is in order.
  13. Fixed! I'm guessing at some point there was a serious demand for LH quarter panels seeing how that Boss and 428 Mach had both chopped off. Pretty sad to see what people have cut up in the past, but the Mach I can see as it looks to have been hit hard in the right rear. I don't think the junkyard they pulled it out of was too kind to it either seeing how the windshield frame is bent all to hell. With that said, I have no problem if someone rebodies a car like these two provided they do something like stamp "rebody" on the VIN plate. I'd rather see the cars preserved then lost. And seriously, would anyone want to drive a car stitched together as much as one of these would be? It becomes a safety issue at that point. Sad.
  14. Actually, if I were working on my dream project I would go for the windshield frame and parts of that convertible top. I'd love to make a 71-73 fastback into a targa roof car with a removable top.
  15. He notes it's got the vin and door tags, but it's not like it's a BB car or anything. From the looks of it, you'd still be scrounging for parts to do a coupe-vert conversion.
  16. Check around. There are pinto fanatics out there especially now that there is a growing aftermarket for the turbo 2.3's. I see a good number of V8 pintos at car shows so I'm sure you could find a buyer. I have no idea how much they're worth, but parting it out would probably get you a little more money. But, if it's a solid car with original sheetmetal, someone out there will pay for it.
  17. I have full Global West stuff or equivalent on my front end, and just running with standard leaf springs with Global West bushings for now. Maybe eventually I'll go with a 3 link setup. I'm in the same boat as you coz, I have a low option Mach 1 and wish it were standard sometimes. Only because I feel like I *should* hang on to the original engine and transmission, and it's more clutter I'll have to hang onto. Some days I wish I bought that 70 vert from the same guy. But I'm going to go ahead and modify anyway.
  18. Just a quick search, but here's what Summit has in regards to Trick Flow TW heads that are CNC ported

  20. Do you have a picture of the specific wheels you want? I don't know much about the 69/70 Shelby and don't know if there's one specific model wheel or not.
