1. This is only $29.99, attachment for an air hammer... http://www.eastwood.com/skin-zipper-air-hammer-driver-door-skinning-tool.html Or you can go the old fashion route... http://www.eastwood.com/ew-hammer-and-dolly-door-skin-finishing-kit.html Much cheaper options.
2. Yup, manual type and pneumatic. Here's a couple of links...you can shop around for price. http://www.eastwood.com/doorskin-installer.html http://www.autobodytoolmart.com/astro-pneumatic-door-skinning-tool-ds1000-p-15037.aspx
3. Bill, There's a couple of different styles, but here are two I've used. The first bit works best in my opinion, but they don't last as long as the second bit. I'm sure it comes down to personal preference. I pick the first style up at Harbor Freight for $5 bucks I believe. The cutter unscrews from the shaft and can be turned over and put back on (teeth on both sides). It also has a screw in one end of the shaft that controls the pressure of the spring loaded center point.
4. The car was featured in the May issue of Hot Rod Magazine. One of the captions under a picture states: "GTG (Grand Touring Garage) designed the cowl-induction hood and helped Alberto Gurrola of P1 Performance (Huntington Beach CA) create it out of Carbon Fiber." That being said I'd try GTG or P1 Performance in your search.
5. You'll probably have to find a donar car to cut one out of or repair the one you have (not sure how bad it's rusted out). I called a couple of vendors that sell the quarter/door assembly to see if I could acquire specific pieces (front door post, a-pillar, inside cowl panel), not the entire units...and ended up with a 'can't do it'. I tried getting the manufacturers contact info as well, since it was most likely stamped in Taiwan and assembled there...didn't make any headway there either. My hope was to get the direct info and use my contacts in the Pacific Rim countries to procure some pieces for me...but no such luck. Wish I had better news.

7. Good stuff, pointing out the difficult spots is a plus for anyone who hasn't replaced a full quarter panel. What exactly did you use the multi-master tool for? Maybe I missed it in the video. I've used them to remove tile and cut door molding when laying tile, but never on a car.
8. Good stuff, I've been following that very one on Lateral-g. He ain't skeered to cut her apart...that's for sure.
9. I use a 50,000-85,000 BTU Propane Heater. I've got a 24' x 24' garage and this thing heats it up quick. I typically I leave it on for 20 minute and then shut it off due to it getting pretty toasty. Doesn't leave much of an odor at all. I've included a link to something similar, drains your wallet by $169. http://www.heatershop.com/universal_propane_forced_air_85_fac.html
10. Nice Shot! BTW, saw your garage on garagejournal.com...it definitely gets used

Garage work

I use 3M weld thru primer. Eastwood makes a Weldable Copper Weld thru primer, never used it though. Krylon and Norton also make a decent weld thru primer.
12. Mike, you should post How To's on both of your topics listed. Anything you can add to the How To's is a great idea. I too had to fab up the top of the door posts and area right below the a-pillar on my car as well and would be interested to see how you did your's for comparison sake.
13. In my business we have an equal mix of product that is designed in house and bought from the market place...and some of it is sourced from Pacific Rim countries, including China. We travel there quite often to the manufacturing plants to review QA standards, watch production runs, etc. I've never experienced anything close to seeing something like that in 10 years. I will say most of the plants house their employees on site, feed them, and only give them one day off a week work them long hours...in less than desirable conditions.
14. Good to hear it works, I just ordered it to give it a try. I ordered the 32oz jug, it's supposed to cover 400sq ft of bare metal. Maybe that's an option you can look into since you don't have a compressor. http://1323464.estore.networksolutionsdesign.com/Categories.bok

16. Sorry to hear of your most recent loss. Take comfort in the fact that she's in a better place and pain free...
17. 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona GoMango 2002 Dodge Durango 2007 Dodge Caliber 1993 Honda Prelude with 238,000...still not leaking or burning oil :) Not sure how in the hell I collected the Dodge collection :scared: Have to see if I've got pics
18. didn't forget an anniversary or birthday did ya :scared:
19. I actually had to remove both of mine (front vertical panels/door post) and repair them...lot's of fab time. Dynacorn doesn't have them, or didn't a few months back. I wanted the inside cowl panel (with vent) also and they are not produced either. I spoke with Dynacorn and they stated they weren't being produced and don't have any plans to do so. You can, however, buy the entire right or left side of the the car (1969 sportroof) for around $1,400 which has: -Complete Door Frame Assembly -Quarter Panel Frame Assembly -Outer Rocker Panel -Cowl Side Panel -Wheel House A little pricey for just a few pieces:scared:. I asked them if I could buy the components of the door assembly (front door post/inside cowl panel) separately and was met with a hearty no. I'm headed to a guys place tomorrow who has a couple of sportroof parts cars he's willing to allow folks to cut up. He's says their in rough shape and both have been in accidents. If the parts are in decent shape, I can hack them out for you just for the price of shipping. What side do you need, drivers/passenger...or both? Heck of way to spend Labor Day...working:helpsmilie:
20. Can you post some pics of the parts you need?
21. I'm deeply saddened to hear of your loss. My condolences to you, your wife and your families.
22. Anyone have any experience with portable spot welders? I may be able to get my hands on a Miller MSW light weight model. I know it only can handle up to 1/8", but wonder if it was worth the investment. It would definitely save time cleaning up welds. I'm getting ready to install the full cowl and there are some spots that are tough to get to to clean up after the welding is complete. I'm worried about the strength of the weld of these portable units. I did see a metal adhesive that was used in conjunction with the spot welder that increased the pull strength on the weld from 800lbs to 2000lbs per square inch, which sounds promising. Any info would be appreciated.
