  6. From what I have learned is that the Boss 429 started life as basically spec'd out as 428 Cobra Jet cars then sent over to Kar Kraft in I think it was either Brighton or New Brighton Michigan where the folks there did the conversions to the 429. That was the early cars then I had heard that they were spec's the same but had a six in them for transport to Kar Kraft. There was an assembly line of sorts where all of the front suspension mods were made along with the revised brake booser and shoehorning that shotgun motor in the engine bay. Production ran for about 18 months Jan of 69 through Aug 70 I think. The first 50 69 model year cars got the more radical detuned race engines then the later got a tamer street version. I had done some resarch on these cars many years ago and I have stored my notes so I am going off of memory. The 1969 model year cars had less color choices on the outside. the interiors were all black. One or two got a folding rear seat and same with rear spoiler. The 70 model years you got more exterior color choices and black or white deluxe or semi deluxe interiors. Most of these cars were destined for serious street racing duty and were modified from the get go. Many also had issues with the heads and fell victim to warranty motor work around 10000 or so miles. I have read a few ccounts of garage find 429s that were parked and left in owners garages due to this. Some sat on dealer lots long after the 69 to 70 model year due to the high asking prices of these cars. No doubt they had to be ordered well the early ones as I am sure as shared Ford wanted these cars in the hands of high profile racers. The what wins on Sunday sells on Monday mindset was big in advertising then. A pilot in Vietnam could have or any American service member then ordered a car through the PX service in Da'Nang or Saigon and picked it up stateside upon the return home to the Continental United States or CONUS or better yet as it was commonly called the "World" Hope that helps. There is a guy in Wisconsin Bob Perkins that is a guru on these cars and has loads of information. Google him and either email or call him and he will share his knowledge. Hope that helps.
  7. It is time to thin out the collection. With that I am putting my Lime Green Metallic 1970 M code sportsroof. It will come as shown except I will keep the personalized plates and Appliance wheels. The original 14x7 wheels with mag style factory wheel cover will on the car with brand new B.F. Goodrich Radial T/A's with buyers choice of tire size in 60 or 70 series. Shipping will be buyers responsibility. Included will be the original 3 speed manual transmission and shifter along with cast intake manifold and misc small parts. I am not interested in any trades. I recently added a correct sportdeck or fold down rear seat assembly. The car is mint. Price $35000.00 U.S. dollars. I will also entertain foreign buyers and can deliver to the port of Long Beach or locally in Los Angeles to a shipper of your choice once payment has cleared and export paperwork in sent to me. Thank you. See car at this link: http://www.1969stang.com/mustang/forum/showthread.php?t=16108
  8. I like Appliance wheels. Look at my car and there are pictures from many angles of my wheels and tires. I perfer them to Cragar as the Appliance wheels are all steel and sturdy. They used to be manufactured in Harbor City, California then Japan for awhile until I believe they went out of business in the 80 or 90s. they are hard to fine but are good wheels in my opinion. http://www.1969stang.com/mustang/forum/showthread.php?t=16108
  9. I know it is a bit early. Merry Christams to all and a safe Happy New Year!
  10. I am looking to purchase a nice complete 1970 Mustang OEM tilt steering column with rag joint. Must be complete and ready to go in perfect working order with ignition key. Just a nice clean one that is plug and play. Thank in advance.
  11. Thank you! I have been busy with it. Added the correct Tach dash and restored rim blow steering wheel. I have to install the correct working AM/FM radio for it that I have. The only thing else I can add as far as options go is the Tilt Steering column. I took it for a drive today and at the gas station I was offered $35000.00 for the car. I declined after thanking him for the offer. I think the car is worth more than that.
  12. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! May everyone gobble til they wobble. Be safe and enjoy the day with family and friends!
  13. May I ask what the spec are on the wheels and tires? 15x7 with 3.75 Backspacing with 235/60 all around or?
  14. 15x7 -6 what does that equate to in terms of backspacing? 3.75 or 4.25 or? 15x8 0 offset with a tire that wide do they tuck under the fender lips or wheel well? Is the rear end the stock width? Are these the original American Racing wheels U.S. made or the more current ones from China? Thank you.

  18. Have you any pictures of your torque thrusts on your car and what is the backspacing?
  19. I am going with a 15x8 with a 4.5 up front. For the rear I understand they make a 9" so with that what should I go with 5.0 or 5.5" backspacing?
  20. I am going to order a set of Minilite wheels for my 70 Mustang 15x8. My question is to run 245/60/15 BFG Radials up front what backspacing do I need 4.25 or 4.50 inch? I have no issue going with a 235/60 tire I just want to make sure this will clear the upper ball joint/control arm. I will go with 255/60 out back. Thanks in advance.
  21. I came across a set of 15x7 Torque Thrust D wheels with 3.75 backspacing. Will a 245/60/15 fit on all 4 corners under a 70 Mustang or 235/60/15 a better fit? I want to fill up the wheel wells as much as possible with these wheels and with whatever tires fit best?
