Protowrxs got a reaction from unlinihada in Protowrxs Coupe - Update
Had the mobile media blasters in today, 7/6/2006, to clean up the front clip and inside the trunk. Nice job and saved hours and hours of stripping for me. Also have my upper arms complete with roller perches as well.

Bad news is I am now sure I have to replace the passenger side shock tower and front apron now. Although it appears solid it just isn't right and will come out. The apron is brazed in as well so I guess I'll figure out how to melt out a panel.

See Bang Shift picked up on the latest Thunder Valley No Prep race.

A friend of mine is involved in the build of the red 55 at the beginning, he's on the front passenger fender at the burnout. They also crunched their Helleanor Stang (https://www.facebook.com/Helleanor) at this event.

In any manner it's fun to watch the madness and balls of these guys hanging it out there in some high horse power fun. The track was a Drag Week 2014 stop and was fun watching those contestants myself and getting in a few coverage pics along the way myself.

I didn't realize you had it torn down that much but glad to see it getting closer.

I'm thinking I'm real close to installing the lower dash as well since I can't really run the inside harness without it. The dash needs cleaning, re-painting and detailing though. I'm still not sure what color to use. It looks like a dark metalic grey or black or something??

Just a quick little update. I know the oil drain plug picture seems useless but I screwed around with that on and off now for a month or more. The Cobra T Pan was stripped and had one of those quick fix drain plugs in it. I REALLY didn't like what it looked like and it hung way down past the bottom of the pan.

After trying a couple different ways/sizes to drill / tap it I finally gave up and bought a big 3/4" replacement magnetic drain plug and a proper drill/tap and took care of it. Looks much better than it did and should seal up and maybe protect the engine a little even.

Otherwise I have finalized the rear disc brake setup, have it all installed including the e-brake cables, pads, etc and will be ready to fill and test the brakes pretty soon. I can't believe how fast things get dirty in the garage though.

The brake booster is finally painted and installed along with the line lock and proportioning valve. You can't see it there but I have a Summit vacuum reservoir mounted under the drivers side fender that the booster is fed off of.

The Wilwood reservoir is for the hydraulic clutch master and seems to fit in there properly although a final test with the hood hinge and spring is needed.

If no turn signal front or back on the same side i would suspect the signal switch, especially if the hazard light can be made to work.If only front or the back signal /brake light works i would say ground, light socket  or bad bulb.

A lot of people use the hi temp silicone in place of the cork gaskets, (takes a thick bead) the cork has a tendency to squish out of place. Personally I take a center punch and make a series of dimples (10 or so) on the block and the manifold where the cork gasket sits and use a very light coat on both sides of the cork as well as a good size dab of silicone in the 4 corners where the cork meets the intake gasket.

There are a few more parts welded together on the rotisserie today. It is a little bit on the cold side to be using any paint products on the '66, so I figured I'd stay warmer welding. I finished up the main lower frame and moved onto the main attachment arms. These are constructed out of 2" square 3/16" wall tubing, 60" long (width wise) and 24" for the adjustment vertical piece. Since this particular weld joint will be seeing half of the applied load of the chassis, I figured it had better be up to the task. I started out fully welding the two tubes together, and sanded the top of the weld off for some plates.

I have been known to make things RPG proof, so why should I stop now. I cut some beef-up plates out of some 3/16" CRS (with my"CNC" porta-band as I call it) and tacked them into place.

Took a little bit of time to weld everything up all nice and neat, don't think they will come apart anytime soon.

Now that the main components are all fairly well done, my pile is looking like I did something. I like the way this "tool" will be able to store in a semi-minimal area when not in use.

Just have to fix some arms, the "axle" and adjustment tube area, and some attachment plates for the car, and this might get put into use soon, maybe...

I certainly admire your welding skills. Wish you could post a short video for those of us who would like to hone our welding skills. Would certainly be appreciated.. :)

Protowrxs reacted to 69RavenConv in 1969 mustang grande 250 carb catches on fire
I've seen this when the ignition timing is way off. Or possibly an intake valve that isn't closing properly. I know you said you checked both of these things but may be worth another look. I would think the only way a carb can catch on fire is combustion coming back up the intake manifold or a gasoline leak dripping on a hot surface.
