  1. I searched the site but couldn't find anything on how to remove the lower trim that runs from wheel to wheel on my 69 mustang coupe. The middle section popped off but there is something different at each end holding it on. I do not want to break/bend this since it is in decent condition. Any help would be appreciated.
  2. Still not much progress. School is only 4 weeks from being over and I cannot wait! Just have to pass all my classes and I'm home free. Cleaned up the gage cluster some. Looks like I'll need to buy a new main part as almost all the pins in the back are broken. But the gauges are in very good shape. Anyone know what the picture with the date means. It is a little hard to see but it reads "W6.20.68". My car was built in November of 68, so this could possible be the date the gauges were made? I did do a little more paint removal on the fender. Found a few filled dents. One big but should be easily hammered out.
  3. You are so close! Very nice work, now finish her off so some of us know it's still possible!!!
  4. Looks to me like you bought a new dynacorn body and ditched the one in those first pictures. Would be a good april fools joke afterall. Very good work though. It's amazing how it can transform like that.
  5. Make some fuzzy dice out of the door material to hang in the window when you're done! Nice find!
  6. Thanks for all the suggestions. The Eastwood sounds really tempting just for the aluminum welding. I don't plan on much aluminum but for other projects it might be nice. I do have friends with welders, so there is the option of just borrowing theirs, but I think it's a good thing to own and would be useful. Nothing like the right tool for the job. I haven't made much progress on the car. Just stripping some paint mostly. School and work have been taking all my time.
  7. That's good to know. Thanks Backmarker. I do not have a 220V line in my garage. And I rent. But it wouldn't be too hard t put one in since the washer/dryer are close by.
  8. Not much progress the past few weeks. Got the dash all out and ready to take the wiring harness out and send that off for restoration. I had about 12 minutes today so I did a little more work on the fender. Here are some pictures. Also got a console and ebrake assembly from Mike65. Thanks Mike! My ebrake does not latch and the one I got from Mike needs a new handle so I figured I would mesh the two and have a working assembly... hopefully. I could still use some recommendations for semi cheap good welders. I'm looking to spend about $400 when the time comes.
  9. It must be wavy or something because I haven't found anything wrong with it. And no rust so far. Hopefully it stays that way. I'll post some pictures once I get it taken off completely and you guys can let me know what you think. Thanks for the photos Chelby-Ann. I haven't bought a welder yet. Waiting until I'm done with school for that. Any suggestions on good ones? I know some are too powerful and blow through the sheet metal.
  10. That's what I'm saying though, the panel doesn't have any dents. I'm wondering if they couldn't get the hood level so they added bondo... weird.
  11. Not much progress but I did find a surprise on the passenger fender. Bondo. Not sure why though because the metal underneath looks fine. . .
  12. I'm not planning on 12 years, but if it takes more then that I must not want it bad enough anymore. Good luck with the birthday present! I hope you get it. RPM: Thanks. I live in Flagstaff, AZ and attend NAU. Before you think desert, look it up. Really really nice place. Unfortunately I've been here my whole life and want to leave... then I scored a sweet job at an engineering firm here... so now I'll stay longer and just do a lot of traveling instead. I thought I liked math until I got to calculus 2. Trust me you made the right choice in not being an engineer. My student loans are proof enough. 9RO1M: Thank you for the tips! I probably would have come to those conclusions after endless ours of sanding, so you saved me a lot of time. I'm looking to invest in an angle grinder. Just had to pay NAU some money (2,000) so I'll be doing what I can without for now. Next I'm thinking I'll get rid of all the wiring and send that off to Randy at Midlife. I was planning on keeping the 302, don't think it's the original that came with the car, but haven't checked. Then I watched a video on BuckeyeDemon's thread... and that made me want more but it's probably not in the budget.
  13. Also, sorry the pictures are so dark. It's pretty dark in my garage. I'm working on fixing that soon.
  14. A friend and I did some work on Saturday for about an hour ripping everything apart. Got the seats carpet and remaining dash out of the car. It was not too bad under there everything that I thought was rusted was, and everything I was hoping was solid was. Looks like one rear floor pan and one front. The picture is of the rear. Any tips on sanding all this? I only have a 6" disk orbital sander currently. Is there a better choice or will the along with some... a lot... of elbow grease get the job done?
  15. Thank you. The car runs as is now, however is far from legal to drive so I have already got a glimpse at what I'm going to get. And I like it. Got the read and passenger seat out today. Wouldn't be a good day without some blood So i gashed my finger on the holes for the passenger seat undoing that nut the rest of the way; just for good measure. I would have taken the driver's out but I'm scared of what I might find under the carpet... Maybe tomorrow.
  16. I'm painting my car grabber blue I think. That's years off but that's what I'm thinking of as of now. Go with the blue!
  17. Funny you should mention 12 years. When I bought it I told my self I had 12 years to finish it. Ha. 11 remaining this coming march. I'm hoping it will only take 3 or so but I know how life can throw you curve balls. It is a good start. a few minor spots of rust in the trunk and passenger side floor board will probably need replacing. That's about it. Thank you desert!
  18. Hi, I've been around the forum for a little now and finally in March of 2013 I had the opportunity to buy my dream car; a 1969 Mustang Coupe. I got into mustangs when I was 19. It all started with a video I watched comparing a 2010 mustang GT to a Camaro. The guy in the mustang was going down the straight away at 100mph and floored it squealing the tires. Just the video gave me the chills. From then it branched out. I've enjoyed older cars due to their uniqueness. There is a sense of pride in owning an old car, especially one as well known as the Ford Mustang. I will be graduating from college this May with my bachelors in Mechanical Engineering and plan on really hitting the restoration hard then. I've done a few things, mostly just for fun since buying the car. 1969 Mustang 302 2bbl. Next to no options. Wimbledon White with Ivy Gold interior All 4 Drum brakes My plan for the car is to just make it a fun daily driver. I put some pictures below. First is when I bought it. Second is my rendition of racing stripes.
  19. So are we. :D Good work on those though! If you're going to do it, do it right and exactly how you want.
  20. I'm blind! That's going to be sweet. Congrats on finishing the engine (almost)! We want a video(soon)!
  21. Come to Arizona. I wore a t-shirt for the first time this winter. Balmy 60 degrees outside. And I'm in the coldest part of Arizona. :D Hopefully the weather will let up soon and you can get back to your car. I saw a 429 for fairly cheap and contemplated it, but I'm not ready for the much work just yet. I'd have to get one of those giant intimidating hood scoops like you have. But I'll keep my baby 302 for now.
  22. P.S. Nice Car!!! Glad you finally got it finished... mostly.
  23. I'm sorry this happened to me but I have been having this same issue! So I'm so glad that you both posted here. Perhaps it is time for a new distributor! Yay!!
  24. I'm glad to see you didn't give up the dream completely. I had been following your former thread and know you were going through a rough time getting that 70 up and going. This looks like it will come along a lot nicer. Looking forward to seeing it all.
