Ah, now I see why this didn't occur to you, you're stuck on having to work from center more than once! :tongue_smilie:

Tsk tsk, you don't need it to draw a 17" circle, just the extra half inch (or whatever it was) around the perimeter. I guess you have never scribed something to an uneven surface? You set the pencil about a 1/2" higher than the point, you set the distance between the point and the pencil to what you want to add, you hold the side of the point against your circle edge, now you run the pencil all the way around the circle and make a second line the same distance around the whole edge. Easy Peasy rice and cheesy. I've even done this on the fly with a nail, a golf pencil and a piece of scrap wood in between. Or you could have even temporarily taped your old cut out back in place and started from center again for that matter.

Point is you did one hell of a great job and were very creative in your planning and creation, you just missed the obvious when it came time to improvise. Even Einstein was notorious for walking out the door with no pants on from time to time.

That's it exactly Newstang!!!!!! We do have the same taste.

Ridgerunner, looking forward to seeing your progress, I always assumed one day I would have to try to make a fiberglass one. If you decide to go into production or at least make more than one let me know, I'll be the first customer in line! :) I already cobbled up a custom ram air for mine and opened up the stock hood but this would be way cooler!

BTW, if you see a sock on my door knob don't knock, it means I'm busy using the other sock. :P

I agree too, one of the things that drew me to the '69 stang was that it was the closest looking stock mustang to the '67 Shelby I used to love as a kid. And now that my car has a custom Shelby trunk lid and end caps that retain the stock tail panel and lights I think it's just about spot on. Now if only I could get someone to make a '69 hood with '71 - '73 style Ram Air scoops I'd be in Mustang heaven.

Don't know if this will help others but I tried some things and even though yes the most recent gallery was disabled I found a back door into the original albums page, you have to find your album and then click through each individual pic links one by one to be able to copy and save but it's better than nothing. Obviously this won't include anything that was updated to the gallery after the albums closed but it's an option.

5.5" is probably dead center on 9" rim but you can play back and forth easily by .5 depending on how tucked in you want them, more with a mini tub.

The best thing to do is mock up and measure (several times) or invest in something like a Percy Wheelrite or build a DIY version of one.

Just curious. I always thought it was just a secret society that has to solicit you or you are born into like you see in the movies or like the Illuminati or something. Now I hear all these radio commercials where they encourage you to inquire about joining so doesn't seem so secret at all. Maybe you are and not allowed to say so though still, I don't know, that's why I'm asking. So if anyone is chime in and tell me what's the haps. I know I have greatness in myself, the question really just is do I want to share it?!?!?!:euro:

I've seen a variety of custom hoods available for our cars over the years from Camaro style cowl designs to Cougar Eliminator and even Torino Shakers but I am surprised to not have really seen other styling cues from Mustangs own different years. I've seen the 67 Shelby style made for the 65-66 crowd for example and think it looks pretty good. I thought I would start to photo chop a few and see what they might look like, I started with the 71-73 Ram Air style, I always thought this hood design was the best feature on those cars, not sure yet how I feel about this idea though, this is just a chop and an illustration at that and probably not 100% accurate and to scale but it looked better in my head than it came out, let's see what you guys think since it may not have been in your head yet.

It's been a long time since we've done this and we have had many members come and a few go so let's see what model rules the board these days. We know it's not the verts for sure but I'm curious how many strong we are just the same.

I thought it looked a little familiar but couldn't place it, it was XXX 2 I was thinking of though, good job Trin. Geez, you would think they could find something better than that. The hood is neat though, probably because it's the only mod that is understated and clean and not all Unlce Ben'd out.

Yeah private sale is probably best, you're right about the dealers, that's why I was curious. Although I have to say I was pleasantly surprised how much Hyundai wanted to keep a loyal customer when I had to update my DD already. I drove my 2012 on the lot recently with 113,000 miles on it and was surprised to get $3900 over what I owed out of them against a new 2014. Between that and the dealer discount and factory rebates I left a few hours later with a payment that was $80 less per month than what I had.

I took a quick look and seems everything equal the V8 is worth about 3K over the V6 so yeah, that could be a loan issue for the potential buyer. I am sure some wide eyed kid will find the way to get it though, maybe you can still insure it as a V6. I think that would be trouble in a claim but hey worth casually mentioning if it helps close the deal.
