  1. I upgraded mine well over a decade ago and I ended up going with an original Kenwood from the 80's instead of the CAS knockoff of it because I knew they were good and I rarely hear good things about CAS products. I also had a CD changer in the trunk, now I use a cassette adapter that plugs into a speaker outlet on Ipod or MP3 players. If/when I do it again I think I will put the original back in for looks and appearance and go with a secret audio type system, all the benefits of modern stuff just not visible. We also have a member here who upgrades stock radio's with USB's and Aux stuff too.
  2. I found an old post that I thought had said you bought yours from Vintage Wheel Works but for the same reasons. I went to their site but they only had like 6 or 7 AR styles offered and these were not one of them. I'll check out Fastlane Speed and Rod Shop today, thanks.
  3. Good eye! I didn't notice that until you made me look again. Kinda like asking someone if they noticed what color eyes the girl with the humongous nose has. I'd like to know what is under the hood that requires so much room, even a V12 with weber carbs should fit with less space.
  4. So wait, these cars are made in Taiwan???? I thought the company was in Flordia?
  5. Sadly though there are plenty of people who want a classic Mustang and have deep pockets but zero ability or desire to build one. These people will obviously like the idea of a 100K full warranty for the hefty price tag where as most of us see wrenching on the car as half the fun. IMO this can possibly only help the retail value of real vintage cars though, 64.5-66 cars are very plentiful and have the widest parts selection, in comparison a lot of folks might consider now paying more than market value for a nicely restored original and still save a ton of cash over the new one.
  6. I was not aware, can you elaborate on the unimpressive parts? I always thought AR was supposed to make quality stuff.
  7. I know several of you are running these so what's the best price you've found so far? I had started a thread on this a long long time ago and had a nice list of suppliers but that thread is currently unavailable so I'm trying to start fresh. Here's what seems to be the common average price among several vendors for the custom BS wheels I am looking at. 17x8 - $365 17x9.5 - $385 So far the best I have been able to find online at Wheels 4 Less is: 17x8 - $338 17x9.5 - $352 I plan to contact Mr. Wheel Deal for a quote and then of course I plan to go to my local Town Fair Tire to see if I can get a price match. Problem is my internet searches seem to be coming up with a lack of variety in sellers.
  8. I think you can also remove it just as you would de-badge a modern car, just start at the top with a piece of fishing line or fine dental floss and work your way down until you cut through all the adhesive. Getting ready to put in a new winshield this spring this has me a tad concerned that it might come with a useless mount on it.
  9. Years ago they did a nice how to segment on Stacy David's Gearz. I haven't seen the show since Spike got cancelled and I don't get MAV TV in my area but you should be able to watch it online.
  10. We are now looking at getting things older than a year available.
  11. I think your biggest swing factor is just how much body work is needed. With a car that looks nice inside and runs great I think a lot of folks are happy to be able to choose their own paint color but they know that is probably 10K they still need to spend so body work really is the mystery element. A nicely done Mach is probably in the 50k-65k range when the right buyer comes along but anyone else will start subtracting from 50K at the highest for everything needed still.
  12. I never give up the ship, if I did this place would have been gone a long time ago. I'll probably be the last one here posting comments to myself one day until I get mad at me and make the final Ban! As for the avatar maybe one day I'll edit in a nip slip so keep watching!
  13. LOL, OK, more good stuff, thanks JW! If anyone on here doesn't like me for selling Women's accessories for my wife on e-bay then I won't think twice for banning them in return. ;)
  14. He used to have the second best avatar on the site as well. :)
  15. Guess dealing with all the spam on the old site doesn't seem so bad now after all. I mean that is really the only reason we went thru all this, because everyone complained about it constantly. Sad to think because of a few hiccups along the way in trying to fill that request that we would now lose a good chunk of our loyal and contributing members because they don't think it's worth it anymore.
  16. Nothing is "Gone", it's just not easily accessible yet here. The priority was to get it up and running with better spam filters ASAP, the only way to do that was to go back one year and upload it all. Now that things are smoothing out everything that was older than a year can be looked at and uploaded accordingly, porting over 10 + years of data in one shot is just not easy.
  17. Thanks Everyone, great stuff, keep it coming. Estimating shipping is one of my biggest concerns but I guess I can always go to the local shipping store or post office with weight and package size and use an address like Rktmn suggested to find the maximum cost across the whole country. Do you guys always just figure on the cheapest USPS way or do you offer 2-3day as well?
  18. I deleted mine years ago, never use it and not worth the effort to replace. I did run the lines thru and back out the firewall though so it still looks stock in the engine bay. I don't like the look of it with a bypass hose. The control panel space converts into a nice little cubby hole as well for iPod, cell phone, what not.
  19. OK will do, it's pretty much the first project for this spring. I bought the Mustang Steve kit in a group buy here a long time ago, the car has been on jack stands almost ever since because of lack of wheels to fit it. Seems these days a lot of folks prefer the new 12.5 kit from the newer cars.
  20. My car has a Holley carb but I had similar issues when I first got it and believe it or not disconnecting the electric choke fixed it for me. I also agree to try adjusting the timing as well, it is easy and doesn't take much, If your dizzy is a vacuum advance then be sure to pull off and plug the hose first, a golf tee works nicely. Mine is an Accel electronic advance so I don't have that issue. The alarm could be just a coincidence but they also could have knocked something loose when connecting to the power source, check around the whole battery and solenoid area carefully to see if anything is loose.
  21. What was the issue exactly with the well liner?
  22. It never hurts to over protect anything really but if there are budget concerns than you really need to decide how you intend to use the car and then go from there. My car has never seen rust, not even a floor pan or battery apron. If I can't drive with the top down then it stays in the garage, I wouldn't even go out for a nice early spring day if the road salt had not seen several rain showers first cleaning it up. So for me I just went with a black durable paint and called it a day. I plan on getting my 2000 Dodge Dakota on the road again this year once I fix the brake lines and tranny and I plan to POR15 everything underneath while at it, this former show truck will become a workhorse now and finally see some off-road fun so I want to make sure the underside lasts a long long time.
  23. OK good to know, thanks. I bought a '94-'04 Mustang Spare tire as well when I ordered my 13" Cobra brake kit.
  24. OK, thanks. I had PayPal like 20 years ago when it first came around but I never used it and I got constant spam emails claiming to be them and having concerns about my account so I dumped it and never looked back. Guess it's time to look into it again.
  25. Good stuff, thanks. So I should probably open a pay pal account too then.
