  1. To keep it a little streetable, 383 is more sensable but usually not fun enough for most looking to stroke. Once you get to a certain size you sacrafice longevity for performance. The next step after .60 over is pretty much a boat anchor. If you are already at that then no big deal I guess but I hate the thought of starting there when you could potentially bore it several times over many years starting lower. I would not have alot of confidence in any engine bored more than .30 personally.
  2. I think the whole thing turned out pretty shitty personally. http://www.auto-focus.us/autoblog/2008/03/21/womans-mustang-is-hotter-than-she-thought http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23746029/
  3. I really feel bad for this guy, to find out you just bought 12k worth of rust. Oy! Not sure if I would have the guts to walk or rebuild, I might have just chosen to eat a bullit instead. http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showthread.php?p=5540165#post5540165
  4. That's a lotta tube socks and whole lot more pennies.
  5. I agree it was probably not intentional but he didn't ask for opinions either, he asked if it had been done and if so how. I'd also like to think that we are a little better and more civil here than any other forum, Camaro or otherwise. That's what makes this place so special, to me anyway.
  6. I'm not trying to argue it either (but my analogy was closer than yours :tongue_smilie:) just trying to keep it an open minded discussion. You can't deny your first post was even more irrelevant to the subject though and harsh on top of it. "If you want a Chevy motor go buy a Crapmaro, let someone that will enjoy the 69 have it to do it right." Not exactly a welcome mat for an irregular idea. daneyb there are many stroker options both in suppliers and in size from 383 to 454 for the 351W and any combo in between. As I mentioned previously, if that was my route I would go 408.
  7. Woops, not even close to the intention, just being an :asshole::clown: as usual.
  8. Well, I think it has a little more to do with it than inbreeding does, that makes no sense at all, do you even know what that means? My point simply was that thinking a ford absolutley has to be with a ford is like saying whites have to be with whites or irish with irish or catholic with catholic, that's all. Society doesn't shove any of that down anyones throat, the choice is ours to decide what is accpetable or not for our own preference, no one is forcing anyone to accept it but intolerance of difference and change is one of this worlds biggest problems to date. There is a huge difference between not accepting something for what it is and even having hate or distain in your heart for it compared to lobbying or picketing against it or god forbid even stoop to hate crimes over it. Freedom of choice is what living is all about or at least it should be. We are all entitled to our opinion but I think people who go against the grain shouldn't be made to feel like they are an idiot making the worlds biggest mistake just because it's not the automaton way of doing things. I'm not sure what you original post said but I found your edited reply to be a tad callous. That's just a peev of mine, when someone comes looking for insight and someone else takes the time to reply only to make them feel like they don't belong.
  9. Lol, those are Austin's words, not mine, haven't you ever seen the movie? When doctor evil says "Austin, I am your father" in the Darth Vader voice.
  10. That's the least of his concerns right now, I heard that Bob had a nervous breakdown and just wigged out. He even shot a guy in the leg who said "what's up" in the package store. CNN is currently showing the police chase, looks like it is not going to end well at all. I don't know why he chose a yugo except that he is obviously very unstable.
  11. Gosh, I almost fell for it.......................not. http://forums.vintage-mustang.com Personally I would rather play pranks the other 324 days of the year, this one is for the novices.
  12. Yes, right, idiot. That would certainly make you the fool any month of the year.:whistling:
  13. Been too cold. Between that and being away from home 5 days a week and the new baby just has not left me any time for it at all sadly. Spring is almost here though, next weekend I clean out the garage and get it organized then I'll start using vaca time and a few "work from home" days for three and 4 day weekends until I wrap it up. AR won't be ready to make my new wheels until June anyway so that leaves me kinda stuck until then anyway even if everything else was done already.
  14. No, not all, not always anyway. I like any classic american Muscle car if it's cool. For me the answer is simple, 427 side oiler. If I could build any Ford engine I wanted that would be my choice hands down. If I was dealing with a budget build I would probably punch the 351W out to around 408.
  15. I think all the modern ones are type B these days, at least the receptacles are, some lighters may be type A still. Case in point, my 2000 Dodge Dakota was one of the last cars made with an in dash ashtray and lighter and it also comes with an in dash auxillary port. When I use the port to charge say my cell phone it fits tight and has no issues. If I pull the lighter out and try to use that the light won't come on for the charger unless I twist and wiggle it around to catch a connection so it is type A still. My 2004 Grand Cherokee came with two ports, (3 actually if you count the one in the cargo area) no ash tray and no lighter. I kept the cup holder ash tray from my 99' Mustang when I traded it so I bought just an after market lighter element to put in one and it keeps blowing the fuse, both ports work just fine as power supllies though so they are both type B and don't like the lighter element. It's kind of like a rectangle is a square but a square isn't a rectangle. I'll bet an 80's style radar detector would work in the stang because back then a lighter receptacle was still the standard being adapted for power but a new one won't since the standard today is a power outlet. I'm not even sure if any car maker offers a smoking package still these days.
  16. Putting a rice rocket in the car would be un-american, putting one american product into another is not. In this day and age of anything goes restomod mania I can't believe so many folks are so vehemently against this. Again, it's not for me either but I wouldn't cast stones at anyone for doing it any less than I would shake my head in disgust at a mixed or gay couple. I just don't see understanding something as a pre-requisite for acceptance. Of course since the rice wars started I no longer see Chevy as the enemy anyway, just a friendly rival, we are all brothers now against a common enemy. When anyone does something like this they have to expect to be berated for it just about anywhere they go, I was just surprised to see so much of it here.
  17. Very popular site for this conversion and according to most the best prices you will find shy of going to the pick and pull yourself.
  18. If that's the wheel option then I would just go 15x8, 4.5bs and 235/60-15 all around and call it a day. At least you will be able to rotate them still and you shouldn't have a single issue to deal with for fitment.
  19. There certainly are signs that not much care was taken during painting. One of my biggest peev's is when someone can't be bothered to remove the striker plates for example or at the very least mask them off, I mean come on.
  20. You gots the feeva now boy. Good luck, I hope she enjoys it.
  21. Feels good to cruise again don't it Jason? God I hope I get mine back on the road by 4th of July. My neighbor took his 65' coupe for a ride yesterday and it made we want to curl in the fetal position and cry myself to sleep.:crying:
  22. Oh boy, you are more than knee deep in it my friend, you should be able to blow shit bubbles out your nose by now.:tongue_smilie: My passenger side was badly damaged in an accident and I had no choice but to reconstruct it all. I can't believe you had the stones to chop out such a structural part prior to securing a replacement. For future reference many of the 69/70 convertible specific parts are not availabel repro yet, heck some of the general parts all the bodys share still aren't in fact. We do happen to have a member in Canada named unfrozen1969 with several cars that he is going to part out as soon as things thaw, you may want to try and contact him. I don't know if any of these areas on his car are any better than what you had but beggars can't be choosers. we have several other cars around the country parting out in our wanted section also. Good luck!
  23. While I am not a fan of it, would not recommned it and certainly would never build one for myself, the old boy street rod guys have been doing it to fords for years. I am sure you would still enjoy it and that is the best reason to build a car so don't let anyone else's tight assed opinion get you down, build the car you want, not someone else's version of what's right. There is actually a small following of Fox Body guys that have done this swap so you aren't alone or crazy. Do a google for LS1 Mustang and you might be surprised what you turn up for info. BTW, one of these days if funds are not an issue I will build a 30's something Chevy with a Ford motor in it, just to be different myself.
  24. I am going with the cobra kit too but with 13" rotors you need at least a 17" rim, not exactly a small kit at all. Have you looked at www.discbrakeswap.com ?
