  1. I went with CHP for my 427w. It was either going to be CHP or fordstrokers.com for me. Fordstrokers was going to take 4 to 6 months vs CHP was 4 to 6 weeks. Price was virtually the same, but I did have to pay tax for CHP since they are in the same state. But I do have peace of mind if something goes wrong, they arent too far. I would go with CHP again if I had to do it over.
  2. +1 on a 351w roller block. As was stated, best bet is a lightning 351w since it has ok heads and is roller ready. 5.0 explorers had Gt40p heads, which are a little less ok, but better than most other stock offered heads.
  3. I just looked under the hood and dash. It was neither of my guesses... the bracket does look familiar since I bolted/unbolted damn near everything in the process of restoring my car. I'll keep guessing.
  4. Btw, my second guess is the hood latch radiator support area... still need to check
  5. Looks like the L Bracket that goes on the lower dash where the kick panels meet up. I may be wrong tho, I'll check mine out to confirm.
  6. I just reinstalled mine. Just 100% verifying that, yes, there is one screw under the stainless molding retainer.
  7. I did the same to repair mine. Looked worse than yours, filled in some holes too. After sanding, I used am interior texture spray from a automotive paint store (like $10-$15 a can) before repainting. Looks brand new.
  8. I think you may be able to get a more accurate guesstimate by just asking what people think a certain combo will make.
  9. Ok, still in the process of installing this thing... Anyways, with those with similar setups, what kind of cooling fan are you running? I don't have much space at all from the tip of the water pulley to the radiator. I have roughly 2.5-2.75 of space. I can do some cutting to buy me some space, but just wondering how everyone else solved this issue. Thanks.
  10. Still haven't seen mine complete, but it's getting there. The car is still at the body shop getting stuff done. Here's how it sits, the tail light panel still has to be painted black.
  11. I think that's really cool that you're willing to put in all that work. To me, looks like you're in the process of bringing back a car from near death.
  12. I have the same wheels on mine, but in 18's. I have 235's up front, 275's in the back. Not 100% on the sizes, but I'm pretty sure. The car is in the shop right now, so I can't just check.
  13. Not magnums, but I have 18" wheels on mine too (Eleanor replicas). I really prefer the look of 18's. I would post pics, but I cant access my photobucket account right now.
  14. Thanks. Yes it's a Victor Jr. intake and running a Mallory Unilite distributor. As for the piece between the fuel lines, that's just the fuel filter. I used a 1" conduit clamp (Lowes/Home Depot) to attach it to the water pump.
  15. I did run into a minor issue with two of the header tubes (one on each side) hitting the heads. I'm contemplating dinging the header tube, or grinding a slight amount off of the head. I'm leaning towards grinding.
  16. I'm going to be running Crane HI-6 ignition in my car. Is it really much better, if at all, to run their LX92 coil? Or am I ok running a Blaster 2 coil? I have two new Blaster 2 coils, but would be willing to fork over the extra ~$60 for the LX92 if it would make a difference performance wise. BTW, the engine is a 10.7 compression 427w 525-550 hp. No nitrous, no power adder. Still collecting parts.
  17. BTW, I have had two red top Optima's too a while back, and they lasted just fine. Just that the AutoZone gold batteries seem to last just as long at half the price. My comment was also regarding that I have heard that the new Optima's aren't as good as the older one's. Not sure on the accuracy of that, just what I have heard too on other forums.
  18. +1 I've heard the same. My last auto zone "gold" battery lasted me 7 years.
  19. Thanks, makes it much easier when someone else has already done much of the legwork :flowers: The heads came in today
  20. What carb are you running on your set up? That part number you provided says the air cleaner is for a Dual 2/3/4 Barrel with 5 1/8" diameter. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/edl-1236/applications This one says for Single 2/3/4 Barrel with 5 1/8" diameter. Are these two basically the same? Sorry, excuse my ignorance. Also, any carb spacer?
  21. What air cleaner did you run? I was planning on doing the same, the car is not going to be driven a whole lot outside of nice days. Especially not in the rain (not that it's going to be garaged, I just have a more comfortable daily driver for comfort).
  22. Hey guys, thanks for the help so far. I've been putting in a ton of hours at work so I haven't had much time. Thanks for the suggestion on the fuel sender, got mine in from RobbMc. Pretty cool piece. Still have a lot to order, let alone install. I did call Holley, they said it shouldn't be necessary to run a return line with my application.
  23. hmm... I wasn't aware there was supposed to be window guides. I'm gonna have to buy some now.
