Kaspar got a reaction from leighub11 in new engine.
Thanks guys. I'm calling all of them and will let you know what I choose. It's also a little dependent of shipping cost and possibility to Denmark.
Does anyone have an idea of mpg for the various sizes? 302, 331, 351, 390... How is the difference between them in terms of gas economy? I know it's probably a really "wrong" question to ask and all choose to completely ignore when talking about and a fast and fun engine, but it is something I wanna take into consideration as we also use the car for long trips with the trunk full of suitcases.

    Yeah, I noticed that too.
I'm gonna go with the Voodoo hydraulic roller cam+roller lifters. Got them from Jegs who has them in stock and also recommended that kit over the other options.
    Thanks for all your advice!

I know this has been discussed before, but as products keep evolving and I'm a novice I hope someone might have some recommendation.

I need a new cam for my stang.

    Here are first my specs:

    302 engine
Edelbrock Performer RPM Top end kit (Heads, manifold, chain...)
    Edelbrock E-Street EFI
    Stock Torque converter
    3.55 rear gear
I don't know my compression, but my mechanic thinks it's 8.5:1

I had the Edelbrock Performer RMP Cam that came with the Top End kit, but it broke and I would like something else/better as I understand it's a pretty bad cam.

I would obviously like as much power as possible, but I'm mostly interested in a calm idle and low end rpm power, cause I use the car as an everyday car also in city traffic, and mainly have fun accelerating below 3000 rpm. So one that has a range starting at 1500rpm may be cool. Or would I loose too many overall horses?

A quick googling suggests that a Com Cam XE262H might be a good fit? Or what about the Voodoo cams. I read they should be good too? Or something else? So a nice idle with as much low rpm power is what I'd like :-)

    Thanks,
    Kaspar

Kaspar got a reaction from TeamPontiac79 in Cracked dash solution - tip
The speaker in my dash had been cracked for some year, which really annoyed me. My dash is dark brown and since I live in Denmark, buying and dyeing a new one would cost me a lot.

So i made a cheap solution I wanted to share:

I cut out all the area of the dash with the small holes for the dash speaker, which was completely cracked.
I then bought some speaker mesh for a 6x9 JVC car speaker. I cut and folded it to fit the hole. I realized that there was about 9mm room from the edge of the dash to the speaker mount underneath, so I folded it twice to make it a usable space.
Then I got some thin speaker fabric to place underneath the mesh, so the speaker underneath isn't visible.
Finally I got some 2mm PVC sheet, that I cut a frame out of, to cover the edges.
And now I have a new place to lay my sunglasses.
A cheap solution that cost me about $25, just wanted to share. ✌ï¸

Kaspar got a reaction from Ronaldbaf in Door closing sound - how to improve?
Might be a weird question, but I'm wondering if changing the door latch to new ones might change the sound of the door closing.
My doors close fine and I'm sure the latch work, but they are 45 years old and when I open and close the doors they sound quite rattling. Just as if all parts surrounding the latch and lock are loose.

Hard to explain, but they don't sound at all like they're a tight fit.
Then I met a guy today who had changed everything in his car to new products (like every thing that can be changed has been changed) and when he opened and closed his doors it sounded like a new car. It was a '64, and he couldn't tell what made the difference, but I'm guessing it could be the latch...?

I just became kind of jealous of the sound his doors made. - First and last time I'll ever write that sentence, haha.
So if it's a question of changing the latch I don't mind spending some bucks on new ones.
I've already sound deadened multiple sides of my doors with dynamat and the clicking/rattling sound definitely comes from the area around the latch.

    Thoughts?
