If no wiring has been modified in any way my guess would be a stuck starter solenoid.

Yes that is a dynacorn one you can tell by the DII after the manufactures ref number

Not sure if you had to do any patch work on that part of the fender or not but it is very easily distorted. You will have to manipulate the edge of the fender to align it with the door and if there is a space left there fill it with a spacer. a 3/8 to 1/2 inch is not uncommon.

I-85 Exit 21. Where I-85 and 178(Liberty Hwy) intersect. is the area where I live now. Northern Hartwell lake in that area is called North Lake. I am still only about 8 or 10 miles from Jockey lot but haven't been in over 20 years or so. Your right it is not as good as it use to be.

Anderson jockey lot ain't what it used to be 25 years ago, neither is Pickens Flea market. Also went to the Mustang shows in Ashville at the Biltmore Estate years ago.
I was born and raised about 3 miles from Anderson Jockey Lot, I now live in the North Lake area.

Mine was doing the same a while back but cleared up on its own I guess. Not sure what the reason was.

When they closed down Books A Million years ago here in Asheville I used to drive down to Anderson, SC to Books A Million just to buy Hot Rod magazines. Then they quit publishing about 18 different car magazines and I quit going to Anderson. They were a car show / fund raiser for a cop that had been injured a few weeks ago in Seneca that I was wanting to go to, but I was working that weekend so I wasn't able to make it.
We have a car show in Anderson that you may already be familiar with. It is in June the weekend of Fathers Day. you should try to make it sometime. It is usually a pretty big turn out. There's not but one sometimes two 69 Mach 1 there, would be nice to have yours there

7 minutes ago, Grabber70Mach said:Thanks. I was wondering if the one you were saying might be available was a AOD or 4R.
I use to own this car and sold to a guy that I stay in touch with. He wants to change to 4R for a couple of reasons. First and foremost the 4R has stronger input shaft ( in stock form anyway ) than the AOD and with the electronic shifter will be able to change shift points to anything he wants.

Not sure what u are asking . The 4R swap will cost more and the one I know of that may be available is an AOD because he is changing to a 4R
-
ouch, I know that hurt
-
It will cost u more money, but have you considered a 4R70W instead? Not trying to sway u one way or another but I have been through the AOD swap and later wish I had went with the 4R. Where are You located? I may know where one is coming available. It has very little miles on it and has the 4R wide ratio gear set in it along with the Silver Fox goodies to make it shift correctly.

Hope everyone has a very good New Year

Nice car Weekend Cruiser, noticed you are in western NC. I am in SC and I have a Mustang enthusiast thats a friend of mine in Murphy NC. Wounding how close you are to him.

Don't know if you have your carpet in or not. I seem to remember some carpet manufactories pre cut the hole for dimmer switch and some don't.

there is a topic in the How To's called a real schematic and u will most likely find your answer there. It is provided my one of our members Mach 1 driver, lot of good stuff there. For some reason my laptop won't open them anymore. Something that I've probably screwed up.

A stupid question I guess (you seem very knowledgeable ) but when you drive it and it dies have you looked down the carb throat to confirm it is squirting fuel.

I have built 2 cars so far, a 1969 mach 1 and another I won't describe here, I fought a low vacuum condition on both because of high performance engine. I am with Bob, if I built another one I would do manual disk on front drums on back. If you build a performance SBF with vacuum assist brakes you may wind up doing a lot of this

Don't know if it will work in your case or not but I have gained a little more clearance by removing the transmission mount bolts. With my foot put some pressure on tail of transmission and actually slide it over some. I was taking my header out bottom tho. If you just need a tiny bit more clearance at back part of engine it might allow you to remove from the top.
RPM and Mach1 Driver reacted to this -
My concern would be what does the block look like. If it is like that, that engine needs to come out, stripped and put in a vat. I have disassembled engines in old cars that were parked in the 1960s or so that looked that way, I have always figured it was cheap coolant. I think all coolant these days are better tho.

well Ed wasn't thinking of the inside. Mine did have a little rust on the inside I use stiff brush and diesel fuel. with the additives they put in diesel fuel now you will be amazed how good it cleans. If rust is really bad tho you may have to use some type of rust remover.
Rocker panels - anything remotely close?

You are correct I look for a rocker with a good fit but never found it either. I had to cut off what I needed from an after market one and reshape it. Friend of mine also searched for one with a good fit and never found it either. I guess there was never a big demand for rockers so they never corrected there tooling.
