  1. I´ll give that a shot! Been all over cyber space and that solution gets good reviews. Some fun reading! https://www.engineeringforchange.org/news/2012/08/14/how_to_make_penetrating_oil.html Do you think Brake Fluid would do instead of ATF?
  2. Thanks! :) What´s atf? Automatic Trans Fluid maybe? :)
  3. Ok, guys! I´m trying to remove the leafsprings on my car and I am one of the lucky ones with fused front mounting bolts. I´ve tried with a reciprocating saw but with no luck, doesn´t even scratch the surface of the bolt. The blades are bi-metal blades for metal sawing.. What kind of blades have you guys used when cutting the bolts? Any other ideas on how the get this crap off? ..my next step will be to use the angle grinder and cut the spring around the eye. Thanks!!
  4. well, not today, but yesterday... Installed disc upgrade and new springs and shocks.. looking forward to the first drive of the year!!
  5. Sweet! Thanks a lot for sharing and taking the time to do this!
  6. I would try to find a replacement carb if you are unsure! If it works fine with an other carb you know what the problem is. Maybe you could record a short video and post so all the great guys on this forum can see and hear how the engine keep running. An dieseling engine is very distinct.
  7. Rebuilding the Holley was easy... and fun! Made a huge difference for me any how
  8. I had this issue too. My problem was that the carb flooded the engine with gas. The floats, needle and seat were bad. I boought a carb rebuild kit and it got a hell lot of better. Try adjusting the floats. Don´t know what type of carb you got but on the Holley it´s easy and takes a few minutes. Holley has a great instruction on their website!! Cheers!!
  9. Go mediaeval on those nuts and bolts!! :punk:
  10. Hey! Oh, that's true. The vid I saw was installation on an 65, that explains it. Thanks. Yeah, I got them out. They were a PIA to get out, had to heat them with a blow torch and use a power tool to get them off. Mine had right hand threads.
  11. I get the idea! Reason for asking is that I saw an installation video were it looked like they used standard bolts. But after reading the replies I'll just used the bolts the Ford engineers put there.. Hehe..
  12. Hi all! Do I really need these or can I use ordinary bolts? http://www.cjponyparts.com/68-73-strut-rods-to-lower-control-arm-12-hardware-only-1968-1973/p/F1264/ Thanks!
  13. finally got the old bolts of the strut rods.. next is to rust protect and get the front wheel wells looking as new as possible..
  14. Thanks! And yes, it is the best looking car ever, there´s always people stopping with a big smile giving the thumbs up! :) Cool, a coffee and some car talk sounds great. And you can give me some tips on what to do next on my car :-)
  15. Hehe, yeah, a bit to far. The freight of the car was "only" about $1300 across the atlantic ocean. Most of the time the shipping of parts cost more the actual parts.
  16. removed both UCA:s one had cracks next to the ball joint, the other one was showing signs of cracks, same place.. got to buy me some new ones!
  17. Yeah, I think its a good call. All fresh and nice parts. Gothenburg, vacation or business? nice, thats actually where I live! Maybe you should stop by for a coffee and have a look at the car! /Mattias
  18. well, took the control arm out today, its cracked on both sides of the ball joint, and the right control arm is showing signs of cracking so I´ll just buy new ones.. held on good though for the last 40+ years.. :)
  19. RPM - I´m located in Sweden, might be a bit to far for any of you guys to help me :-) Thanks a lot for your comments, suggestions offers to help. Thats what makes this forum what it is, great! I´ll probably just change both upper and lower arms while I have everything a part. Then I know its all good and don´t need to worry that it might crack again due to age. /M
  20. Thanks Mike! I´ll see if someone can help me with that. Don´t have or know how to weld. :) /Mattias
  21. I am about to upgrade to disc brakes and put in new shocks and springs. Found this when cleaning up the wheel well. Guess its better to buy new rather than fix!!?
  22. the stangs xmas presents arrived yesterday. springs, stocks, bushings and front disc upgrade.. ordered a 1" drop in front (quite a diff between old and new springs), and 4.5 leaf mid eye for rear..
  23. pulled the rear drums, sand blasted them! Before and after.. painting to go.
