  1. Thanks for the helpful info guys! I'm hoping to get this thing put in this weekend (along with the engine) and of course I'll find out more then.
  2. So I guess this isnt a popular choice? Ive tried looking at old posts on this and other fourums, but they didnt provide enough help. Most of what Ive seen is guys taking an old C6, sometimes from a steering wheel type shifter, and trying to make it work with a floor mounted shifter. This C6 is new from tci and wonder if they made them to fit. Probably not but its got to work now. Can you shorten the drive shaft or do I have to buy a new one? The linkage from shifter to trans seems like from what I read will not work unless modified. Do they sell an aftermarket one? If so I cant seem to find one.
  3. For my 69, I just got my new C6 transmission from tci. Im switching from an old fmx. It looks like the transmission is about 5” longer. For those who have made the conversion, what else do I need to get to make this switch? I know I need a new dipstick. Driveshaft? I have an auto, linkage? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  4. Thanks for the chart. I have seen that before but quite some time ago. It appears that both combination of tire sizes will work. Just wondering if anyone had any experiences/opinions with the larger size tires since technically the 235 is supposed to fit on 7.5" rim and 285 on 9.5" rim. I guess I also wanted to know how to match the sidewall appearance. i.e how much a tire sticks out from the rim. I didnt want the rear tire to have some buldge and the front tire to be more straight or vice versa. Does that make sense? Lol.
  5. So I got some new wheels made by Vintage. 17x7 f and 17x9 r. I really wanted 17x8 f but they were discounted, significally, and pulled the trigger. So i been looking thru some old threads for tire size. I know recommended size (largest safe size) for it would be 225/45 f and 275/40 r. I was thinking I could get away with a 235/45 f and 285/40 r. Would that be too much buldge and wear badly? Or should I just stay safe with the recommended? BTW I saw @Powershift had a size up on his same rims and they looked good. I wonder how they did. Anyway what tire size should I go with?
  6. I made sure I rotated the light switch and nothing happens. What volt is the small fuse? I think i need to clean my fuse box. Its really dirty. My car collected dust in a barn for many years. If I have to test the blue/red wire, what kind of reading on the multitester should I see? My headlight harnees looks like its been in place for 35 years and dirty. How does it come out? I'm a newbie to all this but Ill do my best to figure it out. You gotta learn somehow. Thanks again. Ill get back when I start probing around.
  7. Ok i have been restoring my 69 coupe for a few years now. I'm to that point where I'm seeing what electrical things work and what doesn't. I hooked up my brand new battery, my instrument cluster, and lights. I replaced all the bulbs. I open the door and the ceiling light works. Inside the ashtray light works and the shifter light is on after turing on the lights. Instrument cluster does not work( I'm thinking the circuit board is old)? Outside tail lights work and rear marker lights work. Nothing works on the front end. So where do I start testing for the front lights? How do I find out what works on the instrument cluster? I have a electrical tester, but I've used it very little. So where to test at, and what i should be reading when i do test. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  8. Thanks. I thought about doing that but for whatever reason I thought I still wouldnt have enough slack.
  9. Ok, so Im to the point where i want to hook up my instrument cluster. I got the wire cluster plugged in but i have no idea how to plug in the spedo cable. There seems to be no room for my hand and cable will not pull out to plug in. What do i need to do?
  10. I got it! Yeah. I think someone may have had a console in it before because there are holes in the floor pan where would have attached. And i just found the end of a long wire that would reach the distance of a console lighter. Now that i found it ( all bunched up and tucked away) it looks like the end of it has an elbow plug to hook into the lighter and a ground wire. I didnt see any location on the console where a light would go. The bulb is a 1893 bulb. It should have had a silver cover but is missing. Im guessing its the ashtray bulb for a standard ashtray. But it wont reach the length of the console. I just dont know where to put it and if its safe to use with the cover missing. The only other wire i see loose is a yellow wire and blue wire connected to a black end. Im guessing its the radio wire. Which of those two wires is the power wire? I want to hook up an aftermarket radio. Since thats an entire different topic, I'm sure i can dig up some info on here about hooking one up. Thanks
  11. Well i finally got back on track and need to get this dash back together. I think i understand now where most of my wires go now but i have more questions. I orginally did not have a center console and now i want to put one in. I found the cigarette lighter wires, light bulb and a black ground wire. Where does the ground wire go? What do i do with the light now that i took out the bottom dash at/cl? I found a short blue wire male end plugged into the light blue elbow female end?? Huh. I know the elbow would plug into the lighter. Then where should the blue male end go? Should i get the the wire kit for the console? I looked at a picture of it on CJ pony parts of this wire harness but it looks like it has a square connector within it along with some wires that would attach to my cigarette wires. Midlife, Danno?
  12. I wish i would have thought of this before my car resto. It would definitely would look better. If anyone does decide to this, I need a couple of the clips that go on the bottom of the side molding pieces. I guess the fastener slides on the bottom of the trim and the two studs go through to the trunk. For whatever happened, I lost mine and now my trim doesn't sit flush. Send me a message if someone has some. Thanks and good luck with the project.
  13. Cool thanks guys. A few more questions. If that wire on the right is for the door light, which I suspected, what actually connects to it? A male end that goes to a light assembly? I don't have any of that. Where would the light go? I know the other set of wires (yellow/green wire and black)that run off of it go to my door switch. Where the heck are my stereo wires? I guess I'll have to take a closer look. And finally, on the pic on the right, there is a black wire with two female inlets in the background of the pic. What might that be? It may be hard to see.
