  1. Right, wrong or neither I put mine on inside I think. Purely based on the carriage bolt cut into the valance and not wanting the tap on the outside.
  2. Ha my first guess is this may be a coded ad to sell something else.
  3. You need to post a pic of the truck.
  4. This is what you find around here. Looks like he has 2 of them. 150 each. https://dayton.craigslist.org/pts/d/chevy-and-speed-trans-runs/6189987522.html
  5. I love those trucks. I bought my son a 1965 C10 a few years ago. He was 7 at the time. Him and I are going to start working on it in a few years after I finish his older sisters 62 Rambler. He turns 10 tomorrow. I was looking at a 53 chevy a few months ago. I tried to buy it, but around Cincinnati the prices are just stupid high for those in fairly rough shape. I was gonna buy it and give him the option between the 2. If you were closer I'd prob be interested cracked motor and all. I'd rip it out and put a 5.3 or 383 in it.
  6. Ha, so putting a 383 in that 63 F100 would be frowned upon?
  7. If it's the original 6, those motors are everywhere for sale cheap. No one wants them. I have a 63 F100 with a 223 six in it. Oil pump stopped working when wife was driving it. She stopped when the truck stopped. Found complete running drop in motor for $250 on Cragislist. Me and my brother in law swapped them in about 4 hours. All we needed was 2 sizes of sockets and same size wrenches and 2 screw drivers to do it all. I was gonna sell it but my 3 year old keeps calling it her truck. Now I am thinking just keeping it for her. Then swapping out the 6 for a 4.6 or something before she gets it.
  8. I'd break out the sawzall and not even thing twice about it.
  9. Hmmm now that you mention it, it may be signal the amp.
  10. If I remember correctly the blue remote wire on the stereo is the constant power feed to keep memory. You could run that to the battery and then put the switch in the battery cable. I thought majority if these switches were used to eliminate trickle drain. Memory fuzzy on this also, doesn't the key have to be switched on for the solenoid trick work? Yes I think the starter will turn but there won't be fire to the coil with key off?
  11. I'm still waiting on that "I finished A car feeling". I got my 69 in poor to fair driver shape and started a project for my eldest.
  12. I saw that the other day. When I clicked on it, it said out of stock. I seen a few on ebay. Used originals. By the time I did all my research they were gone. They were around $100 for complete mirror.
  13. I suspect I'd need to upgrade my alternator to run a fan.
  14. Putting it before thermostat makes sense. Could you put a T on the heater hose? How much does the cooling fan drawl against the alternator?
  15. The housing idea is great. I was looking at controllers last night that had the temp sensor that goes in radiator fins. I wasnt a big fan of that. Pun not intended.
  16. Thanks, the part I am missing is what the glass attaches too. I've seen the glass. Hoping to find a busted part that has the internals. Guessing I won't and will need to buy a entire used mirror or repro.
  17. I have a good bucket with base, but no internals. I need the internals that the mirror attaches too. If you have one with a busted base or busted housing but good internals let me know. If you have a complete passenger side mirror I may be interested if my search for internals are futile.
  18. Makes me want to sell my serial number matching 302 for scrap.
  19. Nothing on this car looks like factory for most part. So I have no attachments to factory look. It has a aftermarket flex fan that is too big to fit the factory shroud. I was thinking either going with a smaller flex fan to fix the factory shroud or get a more universal larger shroud. Yeah at some point I was thinking of switching it over to electric. The FItech fuel injections has a built in fan controller. I have plans to make that switch later this year. If I do I was gonna gonna switch to electric fan then.
  20. Growing up I heard different conflicting recommendations to a temp running away. I was told by some if it gets real hot not to shut it off, park it and let it idle to keep it circulating and let it cool. Also been told to shut it off. Which one is best?
  21. So, in theory, while cruising at 50 it may never fully open if there is enough air and circulation with it partially open. Likewise, sitting in my driveway after running it, I'd expect it to probably reach 195 fully open then likely the temp start coming back down due to maximum circulation. I'll prob put the shroud on anyway, but that may be something it takes me 3 or 4 weeks to get to. In meantime I will keep an eye on the temp gauge to see how it behaves.
  22. The car didn't have a shroud when I got it. When I got the radiator I picked up a factory shroud, but seems my fan is larger then what a factory shroud calls for. I was going to measure my fan this evening and probably pick up a new flex fan the right size. What diameter was the factory fans?
  23. Over the winter I put a new 3 core aluminum radiator and went from a 195 to 180 thermostat. I started it in garage and it held at 180. I did buy a shroud, but it appears I have oversized flex fan and it didn't fit. So I took it for a drive and it held 180 entire time til I was coming back my driveway. It crept up to 190 when I was pulling it in the grarage. Would the shroud make that much difference? Or what else to look at? Once it coold I checked the radiator and it was well above the cores. I has the original 302 2V. Not sure on specs, but sounds like it has a little cam and has holley 570. What size diameter is factory fan? Guessing at slow speeds the shroud becomes more crutial.
  24. Yeah looks like I'll have to find one. Looks like the screw nut rivet for the doors works good.
  25. I have the sport style mirrors. The passenger side is missing the glass plus the adjustable piece the glass adheres to. I can find the glass but not the internal piece. Does anyone know if those are produced? I also have new door skins. Which kit is best to use in mounting the mirrors? Im holding off mounting the driver til I have a solution for passenger side incase I end up with complete different set with different mounting holes.
