  1. I was wondering what upgrades you have all done using parts from later model Falcons etc to your 69/70 Mustangs. I know you can use XF and older Upper Control arms etc, but are there any other common swaps using steering boxes & parts? Modern seats? Brakes etc? There must have been upgraded suspension etc manufactured for XD to XF, is any of this still available? I have been looking at RRS steering racks, brakes and suspension, but the costs are still much for a weekend cruiser.
  2. I agree with the thinking Ray, just saw a recond 390 for a good price. No donor car, just potentially an engine
  3. 1970 Sportsroof, currently 302W and C4 What would I need to bolt in a FE engine (390 in this case)? Anyone gone down this road and regretted it? I'm guessing a C6 might be required or is thereT5 conversion parts available?
  4. Hi guys, does anyone know if I can identify a dealer name from the code on the Marti report? Car was built at Dearborn, and lists the following: 75 Phoenix Ordering District DEALER# 75B475 Thanks for your help
  5. Are you sure the converter is working correctly? My first thought was seized converter stator or something not allowing the converter to slip enough to get you into the power band
  6. I also went with New Vintage and agree they are a pain to mount. They look good but I find them hard to read due to reflection on the glass. If I was starting again I would be looking at one of the 6 gauge bezels (MTF, Year one , JME) and filling it with Autometer or similar
  7. Henk, I have had good experiences with NPD and CJ Pony. Had an issue with the chrome quality on some door handles, NPD stood behind their product no issue. I would use them for everything but their freight costs are higher than CPJ usually. Purchased some dynacorn fold down seat trim from CJP, and initially had some issues getting it sorted, but they came to the party eventually. Wouldn't purchase from Laurel Mountain Mustang again, poor quality grille trim and basically told me that's as good as it gets. Currently having an issue getting Mustang Project to stand behind their product, but have heard good things about Vintage LED's if you are looking at products like that. Thread on these products in the technical section.
  8. Hi Guys, I have been trying to get hold of Mustang Project for two weeks now to discuss my faulty LED tail lights. Have sent multiple emails from different accounts and left numerous phone messages. So far, have had zero response. I know they are still trading as one of the guys here has just purchased hood turn signal LEDs, he got an email response within an hour. This is the worst experience I have had with a USA supplier, all other dealings have been good. What are my options here? I have a product with a lifetime warranty that is faulty and now I'm spending money on international calls trying to get a response. Any ideas?
  9. I emailed Gary about warranty: I offer 30 days money back if you are not happy with the lights. 2 years warranty. However, if anything should go get damaged or fail, I can easily replace any of the components at no charge.
  10. No response from Mustang Project yet, have emailed and phoned from New Zealand with no response. Any ideas how I can find out if they are still in business? Still sending me generic sales emails though.
  11. I installed the Mustang Project sequential LEDs about 2 years ago. Last August I noticed the RH unit was dead. I contacted Mustang Project and eventually they sent a replacement at no cost. (Lifetime warranty) In the meantime I had converted back to standard bulbs. I finally refitted the LEDS in March this year and found the replacement unit didn't operate correctly. Refitted bulbs so I could take the car away. Have sent a couple to emails to Mustang Project about the latest issue but am getting no replies. I was looking to add the LED sequential hood signal units next, but wont be doing anything with Mustang Project until this is resolved. Will keep you posted. Have to say if I was starting again, I would be looking at the Vintage LEDs, the mounting system looks like it would but much less stress on the boards than the MP version. I might look at replicating their mounting with the MP units if they ever respond.
  12. Wilwood has a bolt on with pushrod that replaces the Master and booster, making a manual brake system. I'm looking for something like the Wilwood master that works with the factory booster.
  13. Looking for options to replace the standard cast master Cyl (disc front, factory booster) with a Billet option. What recommendations are out there?
  14. Great thanks.I am looking at the kit which includes the pump and hoses also.
  15. Thanks Dave, good to hear someone has fitted this kit.Did the rag joint and pitman arm come with the kit? Did you have to shorten your column?
  16. Was looking at this kit which uses their 400 series box. http://www.cpptalk.com/Dealer_7_web/Sec%202D%20-%20Ford%20sec.pdf Local rules here rule out using the borgeson box due to the welded mount. Not having much luck finding anyone who has fitted this kit in 69/70
  17. I would like to do the Borgeson change but welded mounting brackets are not legal down here in NZ. Have looked at CPP boxes and kits and they look like a good option. Is there any reason that hardly anyone is using or talking about these boxes as an option??
  18. I have a 70 302 & C4 My full length Hedman headers hit the steering ram, and I don't want to use the drop bracket either. I went Hedman shorties and had the local exhaust shop build a 2 1/4 dual system with x pipe. Works great.
  19. I like the look of that system as well, but our dollar is worse than yours. About 67c to the NZD right now
  20. I think there are some replacement valve bodies for the AOD that improves performance and eliminates the 1-2-1,shuffle.
  21. Thanks Shaun, looking at 3.9 gears to compliment the swap
  22. Hi all, I'm looking at fitting an AOD to my 70 Mustang and have a couple of questions still. Have read the how to's on here, thanks to the guys who put them together. Are you all using the standard Mustang shifter? Did you need anything to adapt the factory shifter to the AOD? To those that drag race with a factory AOD, are you racing in drive or shifting 1-2-1 so you can hold the trans in 2nd gear? Thanks for all comments
  23. Bob, Do you have some feedback on this install and the outcome? Did you change the pump also?
  24. I think they need some trimming around the column on the 70 model, fits the 69 as is. MTF should be able to confirm that for you.
  25. The springs will settle up to 1/2 an inch from their initial compressed height when the weight of the car is on them.
