  1. Depending on what your ac needs it may be cheaper to replace it. Classic auto air has a kit that looks very similar to what you have. It’s a little on the pricy side and why not upgrade to the in dash unit at that cost if you have to. Your upper controls should be an easy fix. Your cables are probably broken or locked up. https://www.classicautoair.com/shop/1969-ford-mustang-daily-driver-ac-kit/
  2. My guess on your frozen switch is the cable that operates it is bad. If your controls the factory installed ones there is nothing to them so it could only be the cable. If you go with vintage air or classic auto air they reuse your factory non ac gauges. All the cables that originally operated them are deleted also.
  3. Even if you welded it to the lip like your thinking of it will more than likely cause the paint in the trunk to peel above it due to the heat from welding. I would just drill out the spot welds and replace it properly rather than try to do a patch job on something structural. Once you cut it out I’m sure the rust is worse than you can actually see as it usually always is. Depending on how your trunk is “finished” you can always have the paint matched and blend it and a trunk mat will cover it also.
  4. That’s what I was wanting to do was put the relays in the engine bay but with the connectors they won’t fit and I’m not going to spend time pulling the wires out of the connector. I’ll just mount them under the dash where I can still reach them.
  5. Ok now it makes since. Thanks for all the help.
  6. Ok Got it figured out. My directions are incomplete and the relays are suppose to stay inside the car. Only the circuit breaker goes through the wall and that wire can be disconnected so it can fit through.
  7. Thanks. My vintage air harness came with the terminals preinstalled so there’s no way they will fit. The plastic connector is larger than the hole provided. I can unpin them but is a pain. The whole kit has been a pain. It must have been built on a Friday at quitting time because none of the brackets fit properly and had to be adjusted. Their quality control is extremely poor.
  8. Been a while since I posted an update but over the last couple of weeks I finished the brake system and now have fully functional brakes. I also installed the under dash portion of my vintage air AC system. This last weekend I installed my lower dash and the wiring harness, along with the steering column and steering wheel.
  9. So I think your saying to add from the violet wire and attach it to that wire?
  10. Question for you other guys that have done the vintage air swap. If your using the factory under dash harness did you swap the 14A heater fuse to the 30A ac fuse in the fuse block? The fuse box indicates both for the same hole but would be different amperage depending on heater only or AC equipped. Also how did you get the wires through the firewall to the AC box? The 3/8 hole that comes on the plate is to small for the connector to fit through. Did you enlarge the hole or determ the wires from the plug?
  11. I was thinking gauge ground also but wasn’t sure where it connected at. It’s not the courtesy light, those are already connected.
  12. I installed my under dash wiring harness this weekend and there’s a single black wire that is a little behind the gauge plug. Where does this connect. It wasn’t hooked up to anything when I took the car apart. There’s no connector on it and I can’t seem to find it in the wiring diagram.
  13. Got it in there. I cut a piece of steel and ground the edge so it would fit. Then I wrapped it in tape so it would scratch anything. Worked great. Thanks
  14. Does anyone have an easy way to install the ignition switch bezel without having to buy the stupid tool. I really don’t want to have to pay for the tool plus shipping to use it one time.
  15. The carpet I purchased already has the padding installed on it.
  16. Over this last weekend I installed the Eastwood version of dynamat. Also installed the firewall insulation, and rebuilt my steering column.
  17. It isn’t the factory MC as i’m going manual disc/drum. It’s a Raybestos 36440 as recommended by Chockostang and is supposed to be a direct fit from what I’m told.
  18. I’m installing my new master cylinder and the hole is slightly bigger than the MC body where it bolts to the car. Should there be a gasket that covers this? I have the rubber boot on there for the push rod but it doesn’t cover the hole. The new MC didn’t come with a gasket and I can’t find where it should or shouldn’t have one but I know there shouldn’t be a gap once it’s tightened down. Manual brakes also and the hole is stock unmodified.
  19. Has anyone put a 70 chin spoiler on a 69? I was wanting to know if it would work and how it would look. My driveway is pretty steep and the 70 mounts up higher so I was thinking it would be less likely to scrape. Thanks
  20. I seem to have lost the hardware to attach the accelerator pedal assembly to the firewall. Does anyone have a picture that shows if it’s bolt and nuts or screws? I looked in my assembly manual and it looks like bolts with no nuts. Searched everyone online and can’t find where anyone list it to see what it looks like. Thanks
  21. I knew about the screws. There are rubber studs that go through the firewall. My car didn’t have them when I got it and the manual is zero help.
  22. I’ve looked through my manuals and can’t fine a diagram that shows how to attach the firewall insulation. This is the thick rubber piece with the mat foam. I have the 7 push in rubber clips but can’t figure out how it goes on.
  23. Ok thank. I looked in my assembly manual and it didn’t show one but wanted to verify because every mustang parts supplier shows a 65-70 seal which is what I bought. Guess it will go in the pile of parts not needed. Lol
  24. I’m trying to install my wiper linkage and I got new seals but they are way to small. You can tell where I have it set on top of the cowl next to the holes it’s not the right size. They are the rubber ones and are labeled for 65-70 but they won’t fit. What seals did you guys use? I can’t remember if it had any when I took it off but I’m sure it did. I will make some if I have to but thought I’d ask here first. Thanks
