mwye0627 reacted to Rich Ackermann in Remote Motorized Side View Mirrors Using stock 1969 to 73 housings
Center console is an option. 69 have the cigarette lighter hole in the front of the compartment. On a 70 console you drill a hole thru the woodgrain top. Under the woodgrain in that spot is a space where 69 years had the seatbelt buckle holder. Just a few ideas.

Don't be afraid to epoxy tabs onto the inside of the mirror housing. I'm wrapping up my electric mirror mods using SN95 mustang motors, and used bent sheet metal tabs epoxied to help stiffen up the mounting plate.

Looks like I got the ol'e bait and switch pulled on me. He didn't use water, just dried ground up glass. Thr entire back of my shop is all sand now :( plus he never cleaned the car. The final blow was it cost more than what he quoted.

mwye0627 reacted to newstang in 69 Vert project
well, I guess that's the difference, this cost me 12k, but he only had to do the outside of the car, no under the car, no engine compartment, no trunk.
look at these pics, dent, no paint on extensions, hood corner burnt with a wheel as well as unpainted edge, I can go on and on.

well, that's the funny part, I paid for half upfront plus materials, then a few weeks ago gave me a sob story and asked if I could square up with him.
I knew at that point that now that he's paid, he won't give a crap. What is the going rate on paint jobs these days?

I guess I would have no intention of paying the man :)

i wish i could say the same, so many shortcuts he took drive me crazy. So many unpainted edges, even panted over some small dents that when i pointed it out he told me im nitpicking.

Final update. Put in the 3.5 power valve and it pulls hard and smooth now. No more tuning required for now.

Check this out. I hired a mobile Dustless blast to do a Mustang for us. Been hauling these cars to Ft Wayne for the last 20 years. This is so nice and its even cheaper.

I always wanted to add motorized side view mirrors to our cars. Well in my case my 1970 Mach 1 project car. I have seen posts where folks have adapted 2015 Mustang side view mirrors to a 1969 Mustang, but I wanted to have a more original look.
Well with some research, a few parts from a (non-Ford) donor car and some fabrication and experimentation, I made it work. As an added bonus, I incorporated sequential LED directional lights to the package. I made very little mods to the original mirror. Obviously a hole thru the inside of the pedestal and the housing where the two meet for the wires. Also needed to fashion a custom mount bracket inside to mount the motor and mirror. Check out the video attachment file at the bottom of the passenger side it in operation.....

Pleeeease do not keep trying to start it if it does not have a roller cam, as it can kill the cam if it hasn't already.
We can help guide you thru the initial start up process so it hopefully goes easy.
What oil and/or additives are you using for break in?
You do NOT need to start it to set the timing, and that is the worst way to do an initial start. If you set the timing the way it is described in Mach 1 Driver's post above, it will be close enough to get it started and for it to continue running.
Engines sometimes need some choke for initial start up and can die just like yours is without it.

750hp/595ft-lbs
Power was inline with race gas until the point the 850 was just limiting the motor which from memory was down around 6000 rpm.
Ran the engine initially on the shops carb with race gas because they knew it worked and didn't want to potentially fight carb unknowns during initial power up/breakin.
Tune is really conservative on the e85. Power was above my goal and it wasn't worth the extra tune time to me...

If or when I move, it won't be because of the gays, it'll be because of the quacks.
I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure I don't know who 99.9% of the gay folk are I come in contact with during a day. Nor do I care. Love your neighbor, pay your bills, obey the laws.

I realized it was a small block Chevy. But, I can't believe how they made those exhaust manifolds. I guess they took a cue from Roadkill.

Today was a nice day so I rolled the engine out of the garage & installed the valve covers & the headers. The bottom end is stock, the heads are Ford Racing M-6049-X306 w/Ford Racing 1.6 roller rockers, cam is Ford Racing M-6250-B303, & the headers are Hedman 88408 Shorties.

Every time I bring her out to work on, I don't. I just want to ride.
Started really losing low end power. Really bad yesterday.. Started backfiring a bit. No good launches, not even with a brake torque..
So this morning, time to put in points and new plugs... Wow. I must have really messed up the points after waking her.. there was always a lower end bog, then about what I'm guessing was about 2.5k rpm she picked up... Not any more. She's a tire frying fool now! Makes me very happy! I need to measure dwell so I know how to set this again!
Also did a compression test. This was cold and dry after probably 100 mile day yesterday. Can't believe she has this kind of compression! Last oil change I sent off to Blackstone labs.. the lead was high but nothing else.. speculated it was simply the leaded fuel from the 80s.. With this compression and hopefully an upcoming good oil analysis, I'm feeling pretty happy about her heart.. plugs also read beautiful..

mwye0627 reacted to 1969vert in What did you do to/for your Mustang today?
Thought it was just a head gasket...nope..heads destroyed..and 3 pistons hurt....to much timing for pump gas.... ordered new heads and custom pistons that will keep the compression down around 11...
