  2. Since it takes such a small amount a friend in a body shop loaned me a tube of what they use for trim. It was a 3M product but that's all I remember.
  3. Cleaned the Mach for a show tomorrow. Found what has been causing a bumping noise in the front suspension, that's been bugging me for about a year. Bushings in link from sway bar to lower control arm were not seated properly.
  4. I think the shoulder belt was standard on coupes and sportroofs in 69. There should be a threaded hole above the headliner near or just behing the back of the door opening, at least that is where it is on a sportsroof version. Should be able to feel it through the headliner. I installed mine after the headliner was installed.
  5. Did you check the main harness for the wire? The trunk light in our 69 Mach connects to a wire in the harness that runs to the tail lights, side marker lights and fuel sender.
  6. In 69 the VIN did not have a code for Mach 1. The 02 in the Vin denotes a sportsroof. A Mach 1 will have 63C in the build code.
  7. High back seats were an option that could be ordered for about any model, but I think the high back seats were only available with comfort weave.
  8. I ordered the hood trim for our 69 from California Mustang. It didn't fit and the weld were the ends are formed to cap the ends were rough and on one end ground through the weld. When I called they said there is only one source for reproduction parts and the quality might be better the next batch or not. I plan to have the original restored.
  9. I tend to agree with Pete. I have a 351-2V with 3 speed anr 3.0-1 rearend, I probably shift to 2nd in the 15-20 mph range and 3rd in the 35-40. At idle in 3rd is almost 30mph.
  10. H codes had single exhaust and I know 69 H codes did not have the cutout. Cutouts were used when equiped with daul exhausts.
  11. You might check with Safelite Autoglass http://www.safelite.com/ they repair windshields but recomend replacing the rear glass but they might repair the rear glass for your classic.
  12. I know they were not standard on the Mach 1 and I believe the exterior trim option was not available on the Mach 1.

  14. I believe 2+2 was Fords designation for the fastback body style 65-68. In 69 they changed it to sportsroof and droped the 2+2
  15. Actually my wife is the original owner, she ordered it in Jan. 69. We met in December 69 when I returned from Viet Nam.
  16. Agree with maxum96. We are the original owners of a 69 Mach 1 and the roof emblems were standard equipment.
  17. Sounds like it could be a grounding issue. Make sure the headlights have a good ground.

"Three digit codes were used when their was a "deviation" which in this case refers to charcoal black knitted trim with the third digit referring to the "dark woodgrain pattern" on the door panel which is the deviation." Thanks for the above info cobra3073. Our Mach 1 has the 3AA trim and I wondered what the 2nd A stood for.

  20. I ordered the hood trim for our 69 from California Mustang. I did not fit very good and the ends had deep grind marks. I called Cal. Mustangs and they said that was all they could get, called a couple other suppliers and was told that only one supplier makes that piece (over seas of course) and the quality is typically not good. I plan on having the original part refurbished.
  21. Here is a before and after of ours. I had all the parts but they had been removed in preperation to going to the body shop.
  22. If I remember correctly when I put the seat belts back in the front retractables are the same assembly for both left and right so the nipple is up on one side and down on the other. Attaching the shoulder belt is a bit tricky. You have to pull the belt back through the plastic cover enough to get the bolt in through both the belt anchor and the cover. After the bolt is tightened pull the belt out through the cover that way the bolt and metal end of the belt are covered.
