  1. Has anyone had an issue with a stuck hydralic lifter? I have a lifter that will keep comming loose (ticking) after about 5k miles or so. ill tighten it down a bit sounds good then after a bit it starts ticking again. just started to use rislone oil treatment with zinc additive so maybe that will fix the issue. 1. Has anyone ever tried adding a quart of tranny fluid letting it idle for a bit then draining?? I keeping seeing this solution everywhere. 2. any other ideas?? marvel mystery oil, etc?
  2. how much would you want for them?? and I live in cali so I have no idea how much that would cost to ship haha.
  3. kk thats what I was thinking handling wise. I figure it will be fine as long as I dont go anywhere near cheap on my tires, I think. I hear too many stories about guys going cheap on thier muscle cars and then wraping them around something HAHA. so 4.5 is fine then, the chart says 4.25 but I guess theres a buffer zone.
  4. I had a few leaking issues I just used The Right Stuff gasket maker along with some gaskets and never leaked again. Ive tried quite a few gasket makers this one is by far the best.
  5. Had a couple of quick questions, I have a 69 v8 coupe, currently im running 96-97 mustang cobras that the PO put on they need adapters to fit and sill are just too big. Im thinking of upgrading to some vintage torque thrust wheels 14x7 and 4.5 backspacing. question 1- would 4.5 backspacing wheels work well, I have a chart and it says 4.25 is ideal? question 2- what is the pros and cons of running 14" wheels vs more modern styles? question 3- I love the vintage torque thrusts, do you guys have any other ideas for vintage wheels that will fit well on my coupe?
  6. any ideas on where to find instructions to remove the dash, i can get the basic pads off but havent tried to remove all of the dash.
  7. i think this issue my be part of a smaller issue i seem to be having, when i installed my stereo 7months ago or so. I noticed that when the car was cold and still warming up the stereo would turn off and on randomly and would also turn off if i hit a small bump in the road, but after warming up it would only rarely do this but still do it every so often. I moved the stereos constant power wire from the cigerette lighter all the way to the positive side of the starter relay and that seemed to fix it, it still happened but on very rare occasions. but after the problem above started, the issue with the stereo has returned to turning off very easily.
  8. Okay so here it goes I first started having problems about 3 weeks ago, I went in my car and it wouldnt turn, no lights nothing. figured out that it was my starter relay which went bad. So I replaced that and it ran well for for the rest of the day. the very next day I started my car up and drove about 2 miles down the street and started to get these large car jerks and vibrations. So I pull over and try to turn off my ignition and the ignition wont turn it off so I had to stall it out. so then i waited say 20mins and just drove it home since it was late at night and there was not really any hope to fix it at night. when i got home however the ignition choose to do actually what its supposed to do and turn the engine off haha. so the next day was just a day of trying to figure out what was going on with my ignition and why is my car running so rough, I found that after fixing some wires in my dash behind my stereo fixed the ignition problem and randomly the car choose to run good again. but now 2 weeks later my car is back to running like shit and ignition is messing around once again. do i just need to take apart my dash and fix all the bad wires, or do you have any other ideas as to why this problem appears and then goes away for 2 weeks and comes back. side note ignition was replaced about 5 months ago, car is a 302, 4barrel carb, 5 speed
  9. Hey sm69 did you install the 5s in a custom kicker pannel? Or just in the vent hole?

  11. okay so I already have my amp planted and the car torn apart for wire locations, question is where should I install 4 6x9 speakers? im gonna have 2 in the back, debating about possible cutting bigger holes... (if anyone has done this any tips/what tools did you use to cut). but i cant seem to figure out a good location for the last 2 speakers. I was thinking maybe have one in the middle in the back between the other two, and either just not install the 4th. I dont know any thoughts or ideas? (side note these are pretty upscale speakers installing a pair of 6x9 alpine type r and a pair of Pioneer D series ts-d6902r 6x9, so in the door is out of the question I believe)
  12. Stangs just pm d you pls let me know if you got one still apparently cougars, was sold out. If not anyone know where to find part 222a56
  13. Do you think that maybe me running 5 w30 oil may also cause this problem our a bad oil pump? And not sure about the engine when I bought it the guy said they did a rebuild a while back my guess probably anywhere between 30 and 90k miles ago
  14. When the some of the lifters started to tick, that was a maybe after 50 miles or so after my oil pressure started to run low
  15. Running a 302 with hydraulic lifters, so I had a lift that was ticking on the driver side of engine fixed it then another month goes by running good but now a lifter or more is now ticking as well and my oil pressure also lowered as a result, used to run a little bit above 3/4 on the pressure gauge now its at 1/4 sometimes it's completely on L. Also when the engine was running well I would get vibrations above 60 mph. Anyone got any idea to these problems I think the vibrations may be my alignment because it will still vibrate when I kick it in nuet at 65ish. But I dont know why my lifters keep comming lose and why my pressure is bad maybe they are connect with the lifter issue? Pls any advice would be awesome! Also before the pressure dropped I started to get these gurgling sounds that you could only really hear inside the car, sounded like it was comming from the exhaust pipes.
