  1. Unfortunately, I was not warned about this guy Ray Azcue. He stole my instrument bezel and would not return it. He is a %$'ing crook! Do not believe a word he says. Now you guys have been warned!
  2. Hi Rob, Please note that this thread is about the front interior quarter panels that support the fold down seat. Those are the ones that are all junk repops.:shit: I would be very interested in seeing the pictures of these front panels we are looking for. You do make them right?
  3. The person I talked to said they didn't see anything wrong with it and implied that I was just being too picky. I don't think it was the owner though. Now that I have looked at the restoration jobs from other restores, I see that I am not being picky and they should offer to redo it. Along with the botched job they installed a deffective rim blow switch too. The second one they replaced it with was also bad. I am still trying to get a hold of the owner so I can talk to her about this.
  4. The problem is he is not machining these pins to very close tolerances. The pins in the kit he sent me were about .002 to .003 smaller that the ID of the sintered bronze bushings. When I got mine all together, the door has some play in it. Just sayin............. When you get you kit, check to see if the pivot pins have to be tapped into the soft sintered bronze bushings. If not, they are a too small of an O.D. Send it back and don't waiste your time installing it like I did.
  5. Would anybody be happy with this type of restoration on their Mach 1 wheel? I don't think anybody would be bragging about this :shit:!
  6. That way people would know what they would get. Those pictures should be representative of all the wheels that go out the door. Obviously it is not. It has been two weeks and I have still not heard from Pam or Dave the owners. I sent this Nate guy the pictures of my messed up wheel when I recieved it. Maybe the pictures were never seen by Pam. Hopefully Nate will do the right thing and forward the pictures to Pam this time!
  7. OK, Here are the pictures of my Mach 1 steering wheel they restored. When I sent these pictures to them, they said that is typical of their work! Still waiting to hear from Pam- the owner- about how they test the rib blow switches they send out.
  8. First was installed by them. It was bad soon as I installed the steering wheel. They sent a replacement and it tested bad before I installed it. Everybody should test their new switch for continuity before intallation. They don't tell you this in their directions but it was common sense to me. I couldn't get the switch to make contact except for one spot on the whole length of the switch. I found out that rim blow buddy gets these cheap switches from a place in Australia. If you call around to the different wheel restoration places, you will get an idea of were to buy a switch. Ben Snobar knows all about these defective switches from Australia. http://www.shakerhood.com/ Call him if you need a good switch. Rim blow buddy did a terrible job of restoring my wheel too. If you want, I can post a picture of the crap wheel they returned to me.
  9. I found out that they used to install the ones from Dennis Carpenter but are making their own now. I talked to Don Rush from West Coast classic cougar and he said that they tried to get him to sell theirs, but he refused because of their quality problems. He only sells the Dennis Carpenter ones. He said they take more time to install, but they actually work. Are the rim blow folks going cheap on us? I will let you know how good the customer service is from the rim blow buddy if I can get a hold of the owner for a refund. They must know they have a quality problem if they exchanged the first one I had after I returned it and they tested it!
  10. Has anybody bought a rim blow switch from this company that works? http://www.therimblowbuddy.com/product.php?id_product=313 They installed the first one with the steering wheel restoration and the contacts where bad so the horn blew constantly when connected. The second one they sent me has the opposite problem, I can't get it to blow unless I find one or two spots and squeeze it with a HUGE amount of pressure! Thats only in a couple spots on the wheel. I was told they changed their rubber but it appears they do not do enough quality checking before they ship them out! This is 40 year old FORD technology, why would it be so hard to match that?
  11. It turns out that Scott Drake buys his from Dynacorn so they are the exact same interior quarter panel. This Dynacorn sounds like the best but you need to epoxy reinforcement metal pieces to the back to add strength. At least you can make them fit if you want to put the time into it. I was told by a restoration shop that Daniel Carpenter is looking into making these but sounds like a long way off. The ones NPD sells for $265 are made by california pony Cars and you can buy them direct for $205 if you want to buy junk for less. The owner of this company just died so they might be off the market soon anyway.
  12. Thanks, but I have my original set and the grain is damaged and worn off. You were very lucky to have a nice set to restore. Has anybody seen one of the Mustang magazines do a comparison test on these crap reproductions out there? I haven't, and I think they don't because they don't want to piss off their advertisers. We need to find a mustang restoration shop that has bought all of these (and others) that can tell us which ones to buy.
  13. The Caltracks come with the staggered shock mounts on them. And they are less money than buying the original or repop staggered shock plates. http://calvertracing.com/caltracs.php http://calvertracing.com/cart/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=20
  14. Thanks, I will keep an eye out. Hopefully someone will have a first hand recommendation from one of the sources listed.
  15. The fiberglass repops all have a disclamer that they will take work to make fit. I think that is code for "you get what you pay for" since they are usually about half the price of the others. I saw a molded heavy set a few years ago that looked great. Wish I could find those!
