  1. The interior trim panels in my 69 fastback are pretty beat up. I'm refering to the rear interior quarter trim fiberglass panels. From what I hear the ABS type parts tend to warp fairly easy once it spends a little time in the sun. I was looking at the new dynacorns which are fiberglass and the CPC fiberglass panels. Anybody have any first hand experiance in the appearence or quality between the CPC (Cal Pony Cars) brand and the dynacorn brand. Is the grain pattern similar to original ? I dont want to waste money trying to save a nickle. After all the work and investment in this car, I want to buy what looks the best. Appreciate any honest feedback
  2. The 1281 fits in just about any V8 ford stock distributor that had points upto '74. Remanufactured distributors are easy to get for the 351W. If you wanted a remanufactured distributor for your 351W, you can get them at most of the auto parts houses (Oreilly's, NAPA, Autozone) for about $70 - $100. Would be about $30 less if you had a core to exchange.
  3. Thanks for the info guys ! Where would we find NOS wheelhouses ? NPD ? Did you use your original quarter or install a new quarter ? Repo or NOS ?
  4. Since Doug's is owned by Pertronix, you can go inline (pertronix website) and find the authorized dealers near your area. Here's a link http://www.pertronix.com/catalogs/default.aspx you can down load their catalog (orange one) They have them for the 428FE motor (page 10) for many different makes and years of ford

  10. For what its worth, I put a 351C 4-V in my 68 fastback. there is not much difference in the engine compartment and clearnace between the 68 and 69. I have manual steering, Top loader 4-speed and manual disk brakes. I installed a set of Dougs engine swap headers in this set up and they fit like a glove. I had to only one tube that grazed the front edge of the bell housing so I had to "ding" it a "little to create an air gap. But the small dent is no more than a 3/32" deep. Outside of that, they fit perfect and cleared everything. I love 'em I choose the Dougs over the hooker super comp just becuase they were a few dollars more and i was expecting a good fit.

  12. I have not really posted much here so I'm kind of a newbie Calling all you guys with the "been there / done that" experiance with the replacing of wheel houses. I'm helping my brother with his 69 Mach I. We have replaced the entire front clip, firewall, and full floor pan. Now we are moving to the back section. My brother is a perfectionist at everyhting he does and he indicates we will be replacing rear quarters, wheel houses, and trunk floors with drop off's. I have heard guys complain they wished they would have used 2-pc wheel housings instead of fully assembled wheel housings and yet vice versus. I've also heard complaints about getting the outer wheel housing lip to fit the quarter well lip. Here's my question(s) 1- Do you recommend using the 2-pc or 1-pc assembled wheel houses and why? 2- What supplier /mfgr provided (has) the best fitting wheelhouses (Good Mark, Dynacorn, NPD etc. ? Not looking for the best value and willing to spend the money for good parts. I have done 3 cars and have some good experiance with sheetmetal and fit so I know ALL parts need to be massaged and formed to fit. However, I have only repaired wheel houses with patch panels / sheet metal and not replaced them. I would appreciate any good feedback / opinions from those with first hand experiance (good or bad) as to what to pay close attention to and what to expect. Thanks in advance !

  14. I'm referring to the welded in type. I know the bolt in ones are different depending on the use of the C4 / 4-speed, FMX and C6. The welded in crossmember is what I'm looking for. I've checked all the mustang parts houses including, CJ Pony Prts, NPD, Dynacorn, Goodmark, etc. and they all show only 2-styles. > 65 - 66 specific but will fit 64 - 70 cars > 67 - 68 specific I bought the one that will fit 64 to 70. However, where the transmission crossmember bolts to it, its to narrow. If you tightened the bolts for the tranny cross member, you would crush the ears of the tranner cross member on each side. BUT, While I know the 67- 68 is a full width from one end to the other and the tranny cross member when bolted would fit properly(no gaps at the ears), I dont know if it would place it at the correct height or something. Cant figure out why its 67 - 68 specific. Otherwise, id order it. JMlay,........Can you send me a PM and let me know what your asking for the 70 front floor crossmember that you say is perfect. I Agree, OEM parts are always the best choice. Especially sheet metals. Thanks Rick
  15. Guy's new toi the forum and this is my first post. I am not new to mustangs as I have restored and own a 68 fastback, 66 rag top. However, I'm now helping my brother with his 69. I have a stumper here. Were replacing floor pans (complete one piece) as well as floor supports and front floor crossmember (at tranny tunnel). We are having trouble finding a front floor cross member that is suited for the 69. We have only found available the 64 - 70 or the 67-68 specific. We bought the 64 - 70 style from CJ Pony parts that is suggested for 64 through 70. However, its very narrow where the transmission bracket would attach. It would require spacers for the transmission crossmember to fit properly. The one on the car is a full width all the way through. The one on my 68 fastback is also full width. Is it possible we can use the 67 -68 specific front floor crossmember since its a full width and would allow the tranmission bracket to fit properly. We want to do this right and would appreciate anyone who is knowledgable in this area to advise us our best route. We dont really want to use the original as its rusted and would need repairs.
