Took a picture today of both son’s cars against the Blue Ridge Mountain backdrop in our back yard. Thought they turned out well!

We took the car out today for first test drive! My son was so excited especially when I stopped at the corner and told him it was his turn! Could not wipe the smile off his face!

More progress...spoiler, wheel lip and rocker moldings. Taillights and panel... I know some folks don't like how painted them.

So, I'm making some progress now. Rotisserie built and car mounted. Spoke with media blaster just yesterday. Will likely be taking it in for blasting before months end. This car has been stored away since the early 80's and I long to drive her again. Turned 59 last month, males in my family don't have good longevity. Race for time....LOL!

Latest 1969 article for one of our builds. He brought it to us with suspension in it. We did all the body work and painting plus put most of it together.

mach1cj reacted to bigmal in Converting my 69 Mach 1 to Right Hand Drive - Australia
Though I'd share the Monte Carlo Bar I made. I thought the 'off the shelf' ones looked a little flimsy. I had some spare 1" pipe and some brackets of my old boat (cavitation plate adjustment). Worked out pretty well. I can screw the end fitting out to take the load off the Export Brace. Makes fitting that pretty easy now.

Been a while since I posted an update. Mike and I have got the entire back of the car welded together, the floor pan fitted, and subframe connectors installed. Also, moved the seatbelt connection points back 3” to allow the seats to move back for big guys like us!

Got my serpentine drive sorted out. I had bypassed the power steering pump while the engine was on the test stand. Now I am trying to figure out how to route my heater hose line from the water pump to get around my alternator.... Any suggestions would be appreciated.... will probably post something on the technical forum. Also got the door braces from Mike (Latoracing) and put them in, as I will be dropping the engine in and don't want anything moving around...

Converting my standard hood to a shaker hood. Who doesn't like a shaker sticking out the hood!!!
I purchased the Scott Drake surround . It cost me a lot of money and its the biggest piece of shit . Im embarrassed to even put it on but thats all that was available.
I welded in patches to fill the holes were the original scoop indicator lamps went.

Underdash wiring is finally done!. Will put steering column, brake pedal and accelerator pedal in next. I am going to leave dash out when the car goes to paint.
Moving to under the car for my transmission speed sensor and backup light switch wiring, then to the trunk, then engine goes in!

Thanks! Schott makes some absolutely stunning wheels and the quality is amazing. While quite a bit more expensive than the normal fare, the difference in appearance and quality are truly "obvious". Helluva commitment for sure!

mach1cj reacted to Powershift in what's the MPG on your 428CJ?
Fuel mileage, 428 CJ, DOES NOT COMPUTE........
HA HA!
It's like people asking me what fuel mileage my 1991 M931 A2 5 ton 6X6 gets too. I tell them it runs on destroyed hopes and dreams, with a sprinkle of crushed Prius.

Big update today...
First time it has ran in 6 years. I need to re-tighten the valve covers since the gaskets were leaking but it ran.
Other progress since last update:
power steering was leak tested and is tight tested new fuel sender and it is good filled with antifreeze and the water pump and thermostat are good All gauges look good to do:
Finish setting timing and idle switch to electronic points and new coil (pertronix and flamethrower) install gas tank fix passenger side low beam light (might replace all the headlight trim rings) re-install grille lower car and tighten suspension components get an alignment Insure, inspect, register and drive. -
