  1. ...another thing, I went throu all my books and catalog I have...but I couldn´t find some advise about the stock steering ratio of a MACH 1...so perhaps they came from the factory with M/S 19: 1 Gear Ratio...and the Upgrade to P/ S also included the 16: 1 BOX ??? Greetings Juergen
  2. Perhaps on of the former owners did the "swap"..? My car seems to be a little "special" anyway... for example insted of a FMX Tranny My car has a C6.... and the Brakes in the rear are also something "special" ..the drums are 10" X 2 1/2" the linings also.. perhaps they are from a TORINO...or 66 Shelby..? Because 20 years ago the former owner had a 350 GT Sheby also..but rusty rusty... so he used some parts from the Shelby to get ready with the car I have right now... Greetings from Germany Juergen
  3. on my "old steering box " it says SMB-K and it is a 16:1 Ratio box. As far as I know, the MACH1 package also included the quick ratio steering box... because of the better handling... Greetings Juergen
  4. ...hmmm I had the 16:1 Steeringbox, but I am not sure if I have a special package Greetings Juergen
  5. @ buckeyedemon what I wanted to say was.. if you have the 16 : 1 Box..( could be manual steering too - if you have a MACH 1 , Shelby.. or GT ) then you are fine with a added power steering... the 19: 1 Box will not work well with the powersteering... I switched to 19: 1 because my car had a 16: 1 without Powersteering from the factory...( MACH 1 ) .. but with 7x15 and 235 /60 /15 had to drive around town here in Germany... now with the 19: 1 it is a lot easier.. Greetings Juergen
  6. Hello... today I started a new try and error session... first I had my wheels balanced again, in an other tire shop....Now the vibrations are less than before... that´s the good news. The rear drums could be out of round... because when I turn the rear wheels there is a point, where the wheels stick... so I have to bring them to a machine shop to have them machined. But the funny thing is, that I can´t feel a pulsing in the brake pedal... the U-Joints are new... I bought them at MU last year, and now the are approx. 500 mls old... The transmission was rebuilt 3000 mls ago... in the USA.. ( that´s what the former owner told me... he upgraded to a B& M shift Kit also... the shifts are fast and hard.. so the tranny works fine.. but to be honest I didn´t check the output shaft till now... ( if there is any play...) the front end aleignment is like this.. Camber 0`20 Deg Neg Caster 1 Deg Pos. toe in 0´05 so this should be o.k.... Greetings from Germany Juergen
  7. Hello Candyapplered... yes I can see the small holes in the pistons... looks like they are all showing towards the front of the engine.. but there are two pistons that have the numbers upsidedown... one onthe left side...and one on the right side... ? Here is another pic also... Greetings Juergen
  8. Here is a pic of the engine..
  9. hello rwcstang... I am sure the the imbalance is 28 oz... the trans /motormounts are new.. The balancer is new ( from Summit also with 28 oz ) but I changed to the "old one " and it is the same... By the way .. a member here told me , that in the pic that I posted from my shortblock he saw a difference in the direction of the pistons.. Could that cause the problem...??? Greetings Juergen
  10. Hello Mike.... Now i am afraid... when I looked on the foto I posted....I saw the difference too.. perhaps someone here knows, what should be the right direction...or perhaps the pistons will work in both directions ???? Greetings Juergen
  11. Hello folks.... i have a new problem with my 69 Mach1..... when I am cruising at 55 - 55 mph there are some minor vibrations I had alle there wheels /tires balanced, also the driveshaft.. the flexplate is new ( 28 ounces ).. and the engine ( shortblock from promar engines ) is balanced within 1 gramm.. But the worst thing is, that if I am going faster than 70 - 80 mph....and the stay off the gaspedal and / or brake the car down...then vibs are worse ... ( the brakediscs are also new... and the run smooth ..) could it be a problem of the aligment from engine /transmission / driveshaft / rear axle ?? And if so, how can I check that ? My combo ist a 351 W / C 6 Tranny / 9 inch rear.... the car has stock heigh.. Thank you for your help Juergen
  12. stay with your manual box....and ad the right pitman arm ( for Power steering ) to your gear box.... the 16 : 1 works perfect with the power steering ! Hope that helps Greetings from Germany Juergen
  13. Hi KT69... I did it a few weeks ago.. easy Job ! in about 1/2 hour everything was done ! MU or Summit sells the complete KIT do do the swap. I bought the stuff here in Germany ..for around 130 $ For the installation you have use the "old " threads / locations.... Greetings from Germany Juergen
  14. Hello 69Stangrestomod.... thanks for the "OIL LINK"... very interesting..to know more about the oil and the quality. Sadly here in Germany I can not buy ROYAL PURPLE OIL..but Penrite Oil is availible...so I will stay with 20W 60 Penrite mineral..for the next 3-4 k mls...and then I will switch to Full Synthetic Penrite..and a little Bottle of ZDDP...for the cam... But if I look for the pressure numbers on the Penrite Synthetic...... do I really need ZDDP...? This oil seems to be "strong" enough to withstand the Lifter Pressure on the camshaft... Greetings from Germany Juergen
  15. ...i would check the total Advanve @ 3500 rpm.. you should have 34 ° BTDC to be save... If you want...you can check the Initial Advance after you checked the total advance... but I never did it.. because the total advance is the important one... .... and yes, after wards go for a test drive...and check for pinging sounds ( just to be sure ! ) Greetings from Germany Juergen
