  1. Did the standard clock come with the map light? My dash panel has the cut out for the clock and a 4 slot area for the light. There is a small cutout for an on/off switch and screw boss(s) to hold the light- but no light just the clock- Anybody know?
  2. I guess jersey has salt on the road, Miami prob has salt in the air-hehe (I know thats not really possible) I have seen some beach cars that were absolutely GONE from all the salt. Can you get a small spot sand blaster to clean the rust out? It will weld much better if you can. You might benefit from a shrinker stretcher if you want to make a patch panel for that- that is a little large to weld shut. Maybe someone here has done this repair before and can chime in
  3. That doesn't look that bad- If that was my stang I would fix myself. If you are gonna weld that up be aware that you might blow that out and end up with a much larger hole. Maybe thats why the body guy said three days- its not what rust you see- its the other rust behind there you worry about. That seems like a wierd area to rust- I guess NJ is very bad for mustangs
  4. I' m not sure that these are concours correct for the 69-70 stangs. Anyone have an original so we can compare? Can the Marti report tell if my stang had 2 or 4 muffler bearings. (302 single exhaust) How cool would that be if I have a one of one cause of this. How bout the shelbys- do they run the same ones or did Shelby tweek them too?
  5. Yeah we ought to spread this to as many mustang websites as possible if we want this to fly. This would be way cool- even my wife said she'd watch it. (and she don't watch much car stuff) We all know that in a few days we will have nothing good to watch- just damn holiday specials. Wouldn't it be great to have a new stang show on? Hell I might put a tv in the garage so my stang could even watch.
  6. cool, I hope you post pics as I am thinking of adding these to mine. I assume they don't bolt up to the original trim hole....?
  7. Thanks- was looking for the source of my driver floor rust- clearly its not the cowl vent. (pass pan is MINT) so wheres the next most likely source? Winshield trim is off and windsheild looks well sealed. The car is otherwise rust free. kinda stumped- but I haven't tried the water hose trick
  8. Crazy ques- how many cowl vents does a 69 vert have? I been looking at threads and I thought there are 2 but I can only find 1 (pass side) Is it hidden or did this change/ (or am I totally lost and they all have just 1)
  9. Trying to contact the vert owner in the photo gallery- but I can't find contact info. I just got a 69 gold vert that might be that cars sister. His build date is Sept 25, (my door tag is missing but buck tag is sept 20 68).I dont have a Marti yet, but how cool would it be to find a car built on the same day or even week, heck maybe even in the same group on the line. Anyone know this guy or can forward an email to him? dzahm@carolinafamilymedicine.com 69 vert, 302 2v, c4 standard int, pwr top, champagne gold/black/black, metuchen NJ
  10. I would get it to run and drive/stop 1st. THEN take it apart for rust repair, then bondo, then paint, then interior. Start system by system (fuel- clean gas tank, check gas line, check fuel pump, then rebuild carb if necessary, then repeat for cooling system etc) Read every forum you can, find a local mustang guy(pref one that can weld), and get catalogs so you can start making lists of things you need. You will need 1000+ pics even of parts you think you will remember how to assemble. I WOULD NOT TAKE THIS CAR APART 1st- many projects start and end like this. You might be able to take some auto classes where they let you bring your car in and work on it (with killer tools and a shop teacher to guide you) Good luck
  11. Many good points were made- BUT one jumps out at me.You want to learn about cars, mustangs are one of the easiest in terms of parts/online help. You have a child, and could make this a GREAT learning experience for him/her and make a ton of memories, and maybe a first car for him/her. Sure at 4 they might be only helpful picking a color, but soon he can get tools for you, learn to take pictures, troubleshoot, and before long he'll be welding, "tinkering", and enjoying the skills Daddy taught him. Food for thought.
