  1. Ok guys you have convinced me. But what about the efi conversions that edelbrock and others make. All the conversion kits I've looked at seem pretty simple and say they add power and overall performance.
  2. I have been doin some research and found a couple forums. From what i can tell it seems like i would need to change the upper and lower manifolds.
  3. Hey guys. i have a 69 with a 302 and c4 tranny. i found a guy selling an 89 351w with efi everything included for $450. Seems legit but is there anything i should know? wasn't sure if i can still use my 69 c4 with it.
  4. Ive been reading about gt40p heads. anyone know how well these work?

  6. Im trying to make a powerful daily driver. Im not trying to dump money into a drag car engine. I guess my main question is would it be cheaper to get stock heads ported or buy new ones.

  8. Hey guys, this past weekend i picked up a really nice 351w short block at the swap meet and plan on replacing my 302 with it. I heard I can use my 302 heads if i drill out the holes. However, i would rather get some with better air flow. Im not sure if it would be better (or cheaper) to just take them to a machine shop and get them ported and stuff or just buy some fancy aftermarket ones. Any advice?...

  10. My main concern is that I've already quite a bit of work on the engine and i have been getting parts for a 69 302. But im pretty sure 289 and 302 parts are mostly the same.
  11. Now i just checked out a different engine code guide and it looks like the engine is a "Generic Full size ford". In case im missing something here is the code i got off the block: 0 c5ae 6015e
  12. A 289?! This day keeps getting better and better lol. Is there any way to tell if its a 302 or 289, other than measuring the bore and stroke?
  13. After doing some research on my 69 coupes engine, i found out my 302 is out of a 65 galaxie. Since its not the stock engine i have decided to modify it. I've considered boring and/or stroking the engine. I don't have any experience with either of these. This is a just for fun type car so im not concerned of fuel economy. Any advice or suggestions would be great. Thanks
  14. Well I took for a drive today, and the problem randomly went away! I guess that's good. Thanks for all the replys but so I couldn't find the actual problem.
  15. Checked the level when I got home before I turned off the engine.
  16. Called a tranny shop and they seem to think I messed up the pump and I should bring it in to get rebuilt ($1200 quote). But yea, it was driving fine. Gonna try changing my fluid and filter today
  17. Pretty sure I did. If I didn't, is there an easy way to fix it? Or would it be the kinda thing where I would have to pull the engine?
  18. Had an idea... I had pulled the engine and did a rebuild. I also took off the torque converter just to check it out and had a lot of tranny fluid come out. I tried to refill it the best I could before I reinstalled it. Should I have done anything else after it was all back together? Like I said before, I have added more tranny fluid to it since then and level is back to where it should be.
  19. Im not to savvy with workin on trannys. How big of a project is that? I'm in the navy and I'm getting deployed for 6 months next week, so I don't have time to be pulling out the tranny and doing anything too major. It kinda acts like it's stuck in a high gear but it acts the same when I go in reverse. Where I have to give it a lot of gas to get it to move.
  20. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that modulator has more to do with shifting from like 1st to 2nd right? This is more like it won't go into drive or reverse or anything at all. I'll check it out though.
  21. I was out driving today and my car started running weird. It seems like the c4 automatic tranny isn't wanting to stay in gear. Normally I can feel the car go into when I shift from park to drive or reverse etc. Now there's no change. However, if I give it some gas it will jump into gear, which caused quite a few burn outs. Checked my levels and everything is fine. Linkages are moving appropriately. Any ideas?
  22. Recently had a problem with my CVR. I replaced it with a modern fancy one and I have it set to put out 5v. Now the gas/temp/oil gauges don't read at all. I have checked then double checked and triple checked to make sure the gauge posts weren't grounded to the housing. I have used a volt meter from the posts to the housing. It reads like it's grounded when the new CVR is connected. Not sure if that's normal. No grounds when it's disconnected. Any ideas?
  23. Yea that's what I have been doing. Just want to ask all you experts and make sure it's not something serious
  24. The title says it all. When I turn the wheels all the way, the engine bogs down and sounds like it's gonna die. Levels are good. Any ideas?
  25. It's an aftermarket wiring harness. The purple wire is no longer installed. The wire plugs into the circuit and goes straight to the voltage regulator
