  1. To my eyes the top of your extension looks like it runs uphill, as drawn on the paper. Mine aren’t like that. I think they should be like the bottom one. Which one fits level with the trunk lid?
  2. The weights under the plate also get changed. IIRC the weights have a stamp on them, meaning degrees of advance. They are interchangeable and the distributor should have two different sizes already installed. Maybe that helps you get a good search idk.
  3. I’ve been at this one trim piece, mainly to see if I need to start shopping for nice used pieces or nos pieces or see if the trim can be made to look nice again. I prefer to put as many ford pieces back on a car as I can. So the 600 grit by hand was so slow at removing the factory clear, I gave up. Had to be a better way so I remembered a headlight restoration kit I had left over from a couple years ago. I used it on this trim. It’s still not all done but after 1 interation. It removed 90% of the coating. The 3M kit starts with a rotary disc for the angle grinder with wet 500 then go to 800 wet then 3000 wet then finally to 3000 polishing pad with polishing compound. I think another round will make it look really nice but that’s TBD. If anybody has anymore specifics how they restored their trim, I’m all ears. Btw is all the grille trim a gloss finish originally? Even the wider pieces?
  4. Cruzzar, do happen to remember the grit you started with? I tried starting with 600 wet/dry. It took a lot of the chalky coating off, but the still shiny part of the coating seems pretty tough to get off with 600. Think I need to scrub more with 600?
  5. I’ve been cleaning trim pieces lately and buying nos pieces to replace my used up pieces. I’ve started on the grille area and I don’t have squat that looks nice. The pieces that are aluminum, the coating is long gone and the pieces are dull. Can these be restored? Maybe polish and painted clear or clear powder coated. Or do I need to buy these nos too. I believe they’re easy enough to find but expensive nos. I need it all. Anybody had luck with bringing these pieces back to shine?
  6. Thanks for the info larryc. Your car is gorgeous. Mine isn’t road worthy yet, looking for a usable door so I can paint it. Anyway, I may copy your wheel / tire / spring combo, you nailed sir :)
  7. Larryc94, with 235/60-15, is rubbing an issue front or back? Do you remember the the back space and the rim size, 15x7?
  8. Here's a cheap version that uses the factory style tanks and mounts. Sold by autocity1958 on eBay. I installed it in a 69 a year ago but my car is only yard driving so far so I can't how good it cools. Mounts with factory mounts and the factory shroud is supposed to bolt up too.
  9. I've had mixed results trying to repair horns. If you find a working hi side, I'd take them or pay you extra just for the hi side.
  10. This is the only plug I see in the area and assuming at least the clock plugs in there. There is multiple ways to plug things in and the polarity can get reversed real quick
  11. Im building my Mach 1 from a basket case so I don't have any reference photos, so I need help figuring out some plug ins if anybody has their car apart to photo for me. I recently traced a short to ground issue in my dash lights to some plug ins installed incorrectly in the center to right hand side. I need to know where the harnesses shown are plugged in. I'm assuming the small harness is the clock harness and the bigger one I think, 1 leg is for cigarette lighter. My car has the console but I don't yet have the harness. I can't even figure out where the ground is supposed to connect. Any photos of the installled harness would be great.
  12. Do the 69 horns work? I need the high side but would take a pair.
  13. Raven, here's the way I conquered those clips. I used s small string from the inside of a piece of paracord. Tie it to the tit end of the grommet and it'll pull thru without breaking the grommet.
  14. I'm interested in your fan, I'll pm you about it.
  15. Did the spool valve slide back n forth easily? I use 2000 grit wet / dry sand paper to polish its machined surfaces. There's a screen mesh in the power steering pump that gets clogged. It has to never disassembled to get cleaned. If the problem started with the rebuild I'd stay at the control valve. Also that spool can be installed backwards.
  16. Just curious if you made any progress on your seat. I have 2 1970 seats that I'd like to convert to 69's if possible, within reason.
  17. Received the hose bracket. Just what I needed. Thanks guys for responding.
  18. Question relates to the two center, smaller studs. Wanting to remove these nuts to put a wiring eyelets behind them and reinstall the 2 nuts.
  19. Im about to wire up a duraspark module located between the battery and radiator support. The solenoid is a perfect place to get both power wires fed and it's close by. My concern, on the small terminals, if I add an additional nut to secure a ring terminal, the push on connectors are only half on. Being close to the fan they might get blown off, maybe. So in my mind I'm thinking I could take the nuts off the small terminals and put a wire ring eyelet behind it, to save the rest of the stud for the push on connector. Doing so will preserve my good factory harness from cutting and soldering. So will taking these nuts off, mess up anything internally in the solenoid? Or adjustments? Normally with a question like this I'd just peck an old one apart and see but I couldn't find a junk one readily available. Should I try it on my new standard solenoid or look for another solution?
  20. Thanks fellas for the Intel, pm sent to ya mike. I'll take the bracket :)
  21. Mike that's in fine shape for me but isn't that the big block version? Anybody know for sure?
  22. I appreciate the response. Had several pm's. If the other guy on vmf doesn't come thru, I'll get yours for sure. I'll let you know first thing, thanks much
  23. Pic would be good if it ain't much trouble. I trust your opinion though mike. I got several replies needing this part, I appreciate the brotherhood that comes out to help. Just want to compare to another $20 plus shipping offer I have. Thanks Mike65.
  24. Is the metal pitted? The rubber, what kind of shape is it in, cracked or swelled? Thanks Mike65
