Haven't done anything yet to the rest of the underside, but I have tried coating the inside of the back wheel wells with melted rubber! LOL!

There are all kinds of places for original and reproduction Mustang parts.  CJ Pony Parts, Mustangs Unlimited, National Parts Depot, Mustang Depot, and Virginia Classic Mustangs I think are the most popular.  Make sure you read product reviews.  Some of the reproduction parts aren't of the best quality.

Be careful if you use an aftermarket letter kit.  I bought one, and one letter was crooked due to a pin not being in the correct location on the letter.  I believe it was ordered from CJ Pony Parts.

Well, it's not that original when you pop the hood.  My intention was to get it on the road and have fun with it while stocking up on original parts for a restoration in the future when I bought it in 2010.  Since 2010, I've picked up exhaust and intake manifolds, carburetor, distributor, and some smaller items.  Still looking for a stock air cleaner assembly, and fuel pump.
But right now, it has Hooker Super Comp headers, Mallory Unilite Distributor, 280H Oregon Cam, port matched Edelbrock Streetmaster intake manifold, 1 inch Super Sucker spacer, Edelbrock water pump, oval air cleaner with K&N air filter, Precision Oil Pumps roller rockers and spacers, and an improvised ram air system using an early 1969 hood with the "pie cut-outs" and some other easily reversed mods.  I've really noticed a difference since adding the ram air in hot weather.  Having the carn sealed off from the hot under-hood temperatures, and letting it breathe cooler outside air really helps with drivability on hot days, especially in heavy stop and go traffic.
In present form, it moves out very nicely when I let out the clutch and hit the happy pedal!  My boys love it when I roast the tires!

What has been done to the engine besides headers and carburetor change?  What rear end gear ratio does it have, and when doing 55 mph, what RPM does your tachometer  say?  What transmission does your car have?  What diameter pipe is your exhaust?

Brian, I'm with you. I did have my factory am/fm stereo unit overhauled because it didn't work at all but it still plays through a coaxial speaker in the dash.I prefer to hear the 428 Comp Cams Thumpr series bellow than listen to the radio.   Dave R.

I have a AM/FM/ w/dash speaker.  The only time I turn it on or can hear it is at a stop light.  So if you can hear a radio you've got more work to do on your engine.  Brian

Put an FE big block in it and don't look back.  If you can reach all 8 spark plugs with your hands, your engine isn't big enough lol!

If your fan is hitting the shroud at one location, you could trim the shroud where it hits.  The flex fan probably doesn't help either.  My car overheated in a parade last year, and I was using a new aluminum radiator, factory reproduction shroud, and a flex fan.  Thermostat was a  new Robert Shaw 195 degree.  I put a reproduction clutch fan on it, and ran it in my garage for about 20 minutes after it warmed up as a test, and it stayed in the 200 degree area.  That was idling with the front end of the car in the enclosed end of the garage getting no wind, so I'd say the new fan fixed my problem.  It did hit the shroud at the bottom, so I trimmed the shroud until it didn't rub anymore.  Does it rob power?  Probably.  But a overheated car with the hood up and steam rolling out makes zero power.

...and thanks to jholmes for the Schwab site and tires.  I called and spoke with a Matty 215-70-14 RWL is 160.00 installed tax's included.  So another option for a tire that fits a 14" wheel.  No RWL in 15" sizes.  Nearest store is 60 miles from my house.  Brian

I put mine in the same as MAC390, except still had the master cylinder and brake booster attached.  Looking back, it would have been easier with them out, and this may have contributed to my brake booster/master cylinder leak.  Not good to have a brake booster filled with brake fluid.  Mine was 428, toploader, and Hooker Super Comp Headers.  Put it in all at once with a total of three people myself included.
