  1. That's why I like this site!! Lots of support!! I could simply sand her down and give her a moderate to decent paint job and no one would know the difference, and with a few exterior improvements like trim and weatherstripping, she could still turn heads. Already runs and sounds good!! She won't see car shows for some time, but I'm ok with that. She's still mine and isn't going anywhere. I live in Nevada and she won't rust much more. Thanks to all, I'm keeping her!!
  2. After thoroughly looking over and under my 69 Fastback and seeing all the rust issues, firewall, passenger front fender housing, floor pans, inside rear fender wells, and trunk drop-offs. When you have to flip up the dimmer switch with your foot, and can see the front tire , there are alot of issues!! :shit: Car has no serious mechanical issues, and the 302 2v runs awsome and the drive train as well. I'm seriously considering letting this pony go. I can afford to fix her up, but my mechanical expertise is of little, except for sanding, and a little body work/painting on a bowtie several years ago. My work schedule sucks, and am too worn out when off to find any ambition to do much on her. Having recently purchased a 2011 Challenger RT, I seem to be devoted to that cruiser, and have moved the pony out of it's stall in favor of the Challenger. I have however found a 70 Mach 1 for sale, but his price is a bit high, at 30,000. Looks great, but not show quality for that price, other than her paint. Some of her lines look out of whack, which is nothing new for any Mustang back then. 351 , and all that goes with a 70's model. Anyone have an idea what I should offer him for it?

  4. VFVD, You should consider showing your ride in Nevada in August!! Fifties Fever in Winnemucca Aug 5-7, @ Hot August Nights in Reno Aug 9-14. Lots of nice rides, and a great time to be had as well!! Check out both web sites. You won't be dissappointed with either. Hope to see your ride at either, or both!!
  5. Spent my first station at Hurlburt Fld. as a Munitions System Specialist supporting the AC-130 Gunship, and the HH-53 Helicopter in the early 80's under Col. Robbi. Then off to Kunsan, :yinyang::nuke:Korea to support the LBFM & the 8th TFW F-16s Wolfpack for a year from 85-86. Next was Luke AFB, AZ for the F-16s for 3 1/2 years of intense heat, and lastly, to Bitburg, Germany for 2 1/2 years for the F-15s and Desert Storm/Shield where I had the responsibility of $50 Mil in munitions including Aim-9's, Aim 7's, and plenty of 20mm, Chaff and Flare to destroy and protect aircraft. We downed 16 of their aircraft, and had many come back with their share of bullet holes, but didn't lose any, but Langley, VA got 18 I believe. I opted to get out in late 92. :gun_bandana:The base closed 2 years later. Sad deal!! I had my fun, did my time, but miss the friends, fun, suds, and serving my country most of all. It'll never be the same. :rockon:
  6. What about the Hood Scoop since it is fiberglass? We have a blasting cabinet at work, and use glass beads for blasting. Will this pit the fiberglass? Is this also a long distance blast to prevent pitting, or is sanding recommended?
  7. Well, I finally got brave and decided to tackle the hood scoop removal. I first removed the nuts that I could without the studs turning, and then tried what was recommended with no luck. I then used a wrench, and as I turned, I lightly lifted up on the hood scoop by hand and noticed that the each stud had a fixed washer which is intended to not allow the stud to leave the topside of the hood. I also noticed that on the underside of the hood just to the right and left of the blinker lights in the scoop that there were were two more nuts that needed to come off, and if not noticed or searched for, I might have totally ruined the scoop if too much muscle was applied while unscrewing the other studs. Luckily, I was able to remove the trouble studs, and the scoop. I used light vise grip pressure on the upper part of the studs, and was able to completely remove them from the hood, and was able to re-screw them into the scoop with a tight fit even with the semi-damaged threads. Because of the type of threads going into the scoop, it only helped gripping the top -vs- threads from the nut, which might have prevented me from ever removing the nut off the bottom. Installation will be a breeze after the hood and scoop are sanded or blasted and repainted with little effort after all is said and done. I was worried, but all is good. Hope this helps anyone!!!:clap:

  9. In the process of removing my hood scoop on my 69', three of the 6 studs want to turn along with the nut, and even then won't come out. I've put lubricant on the studs and still no luck. Anyone have a solution to this, as I'm afraid I will ruin the tight fit of the scoop if I get too rough trying to get them loose, and removed. :surrender:

  12. Just getting to order spoilers, and was wondering of any pros/cons of Fiberglass -vs- Plastic?? There is only about $20 difference from the Fiberglass front spoiler to the plastic one, but for the rear spoiler, there is a $270 difference. It appears that plastic was the original construction. Any opinions out there to which one is actually better?? Thanks:helpsmilie:
