  1. Different take on a 69. Not my style, but it is nice seeing a custom every now and then. Personal taste can limit the # of buyers though.
  2. nice sportsroof. 68 last year for a fastback.

    Noticed that too.
  4. Be careful with disposing of used rags. You don't want your car or garage to burn down.
  5. I'm in as well. My 69 coupe needs some bling.
  6. Has your car been in a wreck? Check measurements side to side, fore and aft. Refer to a manual if need be, sounds as if it was tweaked in a fender bender. Go to an alignment shop to verify the frame is straight. Check your tires for abnormal tire wear. A 40 year old car probably has had a few alignment issues. Verify.
  7. Shoot some WD40 on the cables. Cycle the controls, this isn't that hard.
  8. Summit Racing or Jegs. Come on you haven't looked very hard.
  9. Running an engine with .060 overbore will run hotter. My engine was rebuilt by a person who builds sprint car engines for a living. He miked my engine that had a 030 overbore, and said that he will try to go 040. If that wouldn't have worked, he would have found another block to bore out. He cited 060 would have "too much" for a thin walled block.
  10. Did you put in a new radiator after the rebuild? How about a radiator flush, and inspecting the heater core? These are contributing factors to high temps. Aluminum tubing also transfers heat easier than steel, and can cause heat soak.
  11. Since that pan is gone, put a phenolic spacer between the intake and the carb to reduce heat soak.
  12. Check out this web site for original 69 colors. http://svs.com/zim/mustang/69colors.html If nothing grabs you, you could go to any car dealer and ask to see color chips of new cars.
  13. You might have water in the gas tank, or old gas in the tank that causes problems. Put on new gas filter, and check the idle speed on the carb. You might need to install a carb rebuild kit, and clean out the carb to prevent this from reoccuring.

  15. Welcome to the forum. Now if you can convince the car magazines and parts suppliers that the 69 is the most common, followed by the 70. Most car rags think 65 to 68. Then miraculously the new generation. I had to get that off my chest. Thank you for providing us car junkies a place to update wiring. Don't want my ride to go up in smoke.
  16. Definitely a money pit. Walk away from it. There are better cars to be had, this vehicle is only a parts car.
  17. Never trust a seller, the reason why he sold it is very telling. Good luck, but be realistic about it all. A car is very similar to an iceberg, you can only see 10% of the surface. Been there many times.
  18. You might want to contact Dynacorn Industries, they make replacement bodies for 67-70 Mustang fastbacks. http://www.dynacornclassicbodies.com/ford_models2.html They ship these out as an unit.

  22. Two ideas come to mind. Do you the right PSI on the radiator cap? The second one is do you have an overflow bottle or container hooked up to the overflow tube?

  24. Here's a how to from Castrol: http://www.castrol.com/castrol/genericarticle.do?categoryId=9012820&contentId=6004801 While you are at this, it would be a good time to replace the thermostat and gasket. Also check the upper and lower radiator hoses, if they feel soft, replace. The heater hoses, if they have any dry rot (the outer cover) has cracks or is hard in spots, replace. You don't want to be 50 miles from nowhere, and lose your antifreeze. Replace antifreeze, with a 50/50 ratio of coolant to water. Or buy the premixed jugs.
