  1. $30 was a good deal for that unit. Most places around here want $75-$100 pulled for Contour/Mystique fan.
  2. Good pic, thanks. They are night and day different arent they? Got the rotors test fit yesterday with the 70 spindle in the vise. It does look like these will work on 70 spindles with 70 disc bearings. (yay) However, I need to chase down low profile castle nut.The ones included in the kit are for the 69 spindle and are a coarse thread and smaller dia. I could possibly use the original but would have to use smaller pin as it doesnt screw down far enough to clear the hole. Pics later
  3. Cool - hopefully wil test fit and start the install this weekend. The kit is advertised for a standard brake 65-69 cars and includes ther PN# 0405 SSBC master cylinder with a prop valve. On the parts list its described as "M/C 1"bore '67-72 Mustang Power" I read somewhere else that the 0405 M/C will not fit OEM power boosters. Is the OEM power disc brake M/C a 1" bore? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ssb-0405
  4. On mine I pulled on it so hard it pulled the clip out of the column. If you look at the pic posted earlier you can see the sleeve has locking tangs that help position it and keep it centered. Once you remove the lower cover, you would need to slide it down the column first, then pull down on the split to pull it out of the clip.
  5. Had a helluva time with mine as well. Just to add illustration, here are pics of the spring clips. Regular wheel on left, tilt wheel on right
  6. Thanks! The rotors are 13" x 1.125". My car has 17" TTII's all the way around. My spindles arrived today and look pretty good. I'll need to go buy new Timken bearings but as a test, the SSBC rotors should mount on the drum spindles using my existing OEM disc bearings right?
  7. I actually used the ink stamp method on mine using the Duplicolor Ford Argent Silver out of the can. I did come back and touch it up later as you just couldn't get the edge uniformity that way. It was kind've odd, it actually looked worse the further back you got away from it.
  8. There is a great detail illustration out there for the trunk and wouldnt be too hard to lay out by hand but I bought stencils for mine just to save the time. As anal as I am I would not attempt laying out stripes and numbers. I would still be out in the garage second guessing myself on the layout. What paint/finish are you going to use?
  9. No worries They are not in my pics library but may have been in my temp internet cache. Also note I tried to go in and remove them and get an error. If they are coming from temp internet (and I highly doubt it) this could be very embarrassing issue...
  10. ok, now THIS Is wierd......see those attached thumbnails in the thread above? I didnt add them...
  11. Or the bar at closing time when they turn on the lights...
  12. I got the SSBC kit this week. The box dimmed out at over 100lbs. The rotors are massive and probably account for 75% of the weight. They also have an unusally bright finish on them. The calipers are bare aluminum and are huge as well but being made of aluminum are pretty light. The kit comes with a M/C and prop valve but hoping I can just use the OEM factory power disc M/C that I have on the car now. I found a pair of 70 drum spindles and should know soon if this is all going to work for me. I have never thought my brakes were adequate. I will get a chance to fix all that whenthese go on.
  13. My brother bought a Cobra replica from Backdraft Racing. Had it delivered last year. It is one insanely scary ride...
  14. I guessed I missed that Pak. Seems like I remember us having this conversation previous. I knew it was in user CP but thought it was buried 3-4 clicks in as : Homepage>UserCP>List Subscriptions>sort unread or similar. Honestly though, whats a few clicks anyway as long as we have improved SPAM controls I think its a win-win. No more spam and a lot of improved functionality.
  15. I definitley welcome the new site, thanks for getting it done Ben. It seems like it has more of the soical networking feel like Facebook. I agree the contrasting with the default white background tends to wash out the page. The ability to plug in a skin (background and theme colors) of your choice will be a big plus. One of the things I thought vBulletin sites was missing was the ability to go to the forums and with one click get all threads I had posted to that had new responses. This feature is found in many other free PHP based forum products and I am glad to see its built-in to the Invision product. You can do this by clicking on your name at the top and then "my content". It also looks like you can do this within each forum by applying "Custom" filter and hit the drop down for "show topic type" and change to "Topics I started" or "Topics I replied to". I welcome the new functionality and look forward to transitioning to this new face lift. Also would be cool to possibly consider a new custom banner in the masthead at top of the page. The graphic below is from BoardsbyNick but something along these lines where various 69 model images are morphed into a letter-box style collage would be cool.
  16. There is some real crap out there that doesn't amount to much more than a dust cover. You get what you pay for. Wolf or Covercraft are the two big names in car covers. I think the top of the line material is Technalon or Technalon II Evolution developed Kimberly Clark. Very soft and breathable. I just bought one for my G37 convertible last month. They have universal fit type that fits a broad range of car lengths.
  17. Thanks for the info SA. I will give them a call. I did find a good passenger side 70 spindle local to me. I would prefer to buy in pairs though.
  18. Thanks. I paid for the set and am waiting for it to ship. I'm having no luck finding a pair of 70 style drum spindles. Chock only has drivers side. Maybe I need to cast a wider net. What all cars used the big spindle, D0AA BB type drum spindles? 70-73 Mustangs and Cougars all compatible?
  19. I have factory discs up front so I would still need to locate a pair of 70 drum spindles. I wont know for certain if this will work until I have the parts in hand. It would be great if this does work out but knowing that the rotors, races, and bearings are SSBC makes me wary that they may be unique design.
  20. Understood - thanks guys for that info. I am looking at the installation photos and the 69 spindles do look substantially smaller. I am negotiating purchase now. I figure if I cant make them work I can resell them to get my money back.
  21. OK, let me check to see if the kit is still available
  22. Thanks Bob! If I understand correctly then I could make the kit work if I got the 69 drum spindles and changed my 70 tie rod ends? The kit would come with inner and outer bearings for the kit rotor. Dave - this is an individual with an open box kit he is wanting to sell for a family memeber thats not online. If the deal doesnt make sense to me economically then I will pass along his info.
  23. I found an SSBC disc brake set advertised to be for 64-69 cars with drum brakes. Its a 13" rotor set with 4 piston alum calipers and discounted substantially. I want to make this work on my car but what would be the difference between a 69 drum spindle and a 70 drum spindle?
